As one of a small, unique, but growing group of Zuul, determined to leave their savage birthright and terrible reputation behind, Enoch isn't descending into The Pit out of curiosity, but out of obligation. Pretty much sums it up.

There's a fear that's sorta in the air that there will be another game crash (like what Nintendo saved us from), and honestly it feels like that would be a good thing. There's like 100 Billion dollars going to games every year or more. That money could go to so many different things, like paying off loans, rent, homes improvements, medical bills, etc. But more importantly the companies who are full of themselves (Let's not forget EA and Disney) downsize a bit until they realize how much they are screwing with the entire thing and back off.

The whole thing needs to crash for a period. Maybe 5-10 years (or maybe permanently) it would be a good time to go to college, learn a few trades like welding, electrical engineering, carpentry, learn to type on the Dvorak keyboard, write a book, etc.
New content for a great game for a very low price. I can't see any reason to complain.
I happen to like devs supporting a game with content and updates, too many devs drop support of great games.
I bought the dlc because the game is pretty good and it is a very good price for a new character and other extras.

someone mentioned never buying a game from gearbox because they continued supporting there game with dlc,i loved borderlands 1 and 2 and the continued support of borderlands 2 for a year and a half is just amazing. The way there Rereleased edition doesn't have all the data is annoying but i'm still happy they supported it that long.I plan on preordering borderlands 3 and most likely buying all the dlc just like borderlands 2.

And to the guy above me that wants the video game industrie to crash and people to do other things with there time and money all i have to say is get the hell of EVERY video game site you visit.

Unfortunately, there is a difference between support and continuing to demand money from customers. GOG provides support for the games they sell. Gearbox attempts to nickel-and-dime people at ridiculous length in exchange for snippets of content. And what I said is that I would wait at least one year before purchasing future products from them. There should come a point when the hand stops being put out, and I have no desire to further encourage their behavior. Another thing I have no wish to encourage is what you yourself said. They're doing a re-release version, but it's only a PARTIAL re-release version. What comes later, a re-re-release version? A re-re-re-re-release version that might POSSIBLY have all the content? Seems a bit absurd, doesn't it. And why will they go this route? Because they wish to support the game? No. They merely wish to take more of your money.
As for the person stating that maybe the industry should crash? They do have a valid point, if a bit on the optimistic side. Paragon of cynicism that I am, I'd say that people would simply find other ways to piss away their time. Noone will go from motivation-devoid slacker to novelist, engineer or anything else. Also, what the person said does have a certain probability of occurring. Things have a way of falling apart, to be replaced by new things, which also fall apart, and so on.

The same crappy complaints come up every time DLC is released (cant win). Seriously. I for one am buying this DLC.
Nice addition, but I'm going to wait until Sword of the Stars: Platinum with Strontium Edging Edition is released.
Speaking of Pilgrums.
I think alot people expect every new content for free since the bought the "Gold Edition". *facepalm*

I'm wondering if there will also be a Mac release of this game in future. :-/

If I like a game then I'm happy when they release DLC; If I don't particularly like a game but I own it then I hate when they release DLC because I feel compelled to buy it to be "complete".

Borderlands 2 DLC, the actual game DLC rather than the character skins is all excellent, even if some of it is rather short. You also seriously don't need any DLC at all to enjoy it. When you first play through it you can pick one of the normal characters. I mean you can only be one character at a time, so owning the extra characters is useless the first time you play. The other DLC is side missions that scale to your level so you can leave that until you have finished the main story, which is how we people who bought the game at launch had to do it anyway.

Bottom line, don't wait for a "complete" release to buy BL2, just buy it in the next good sale and play it. I'm so glad I pre-ordered the game.

On the subjecet of Sword of the Stars: The PIt: to the person who asked why the update is 1 gig, the graphics are not "minimalist". Minimalist in roguelike terms is ASCII or 16x16 static sprites; the sprites in SotS: The Pit are pretty large as you'll see if you zoom in, and they are animated. There may be new music too which takes up some space. The actual game logic and level/item etc. generators for even the most complex roguelike fit in a tiny space.
This kind of DLC with it's "Gold" edition bullshit is exactly the sort of stupid crap that I don't want. I bought this game a while ago and haven't got around to playing it yet. I probably will get around to playing it at some point, but I will not be buying any of the DLC or any more games from this developer.

The whole DLC mess with this game and Omerta has really put me off of buying any newly released games from GOG. I really liked it when we could get games in complete packages here. Now I am seriously considering not buying anything until it is at least 2 or 3 years old and I am sure it is finished.

Why do you say that? They released a Gold Edition package, then, due to popular demand, they released more for it, but they made it so cheap it is incredible. What's the big deal?
Holy crap, I cannot believe the bitching and moaning in this thread! They release a game that a lot of people seem to enjoy, they release a Gold edition, then they release some more content for DIRT-ass cheap, and everyone's pissing on about getting scammed and screaming "bullshit!"

With fans like these...

Also, would you, The Pit players, suggest starting the base game first, and progressively adding the DLC content, or just installing the "full" version for a first play ?
With roguelikes I prefer to play the full package including additional enemies, weapons, craft recipies, etc because there is even more variety and material to explore. It'd take you some time to play with all the character classes so getting "The Pilgrim" himself could probably wait but the 8 additional monsters, 13 new weapons, 5 new armors, etc could come immediately into play and enrich things.

Also +1 to not complaining about $2 IAP with new character classes (significant content for a petty amount).

I would go all the way and run with everything installed. That way you get all the fun stuff all at once :D
