I am Zuul. Are you the keymaster?

Sword of the Stars: The Pit - The Pilgrim DLC, bringing another playable character and more content into the game--DRM-free on GOG.com, for only $1.99.

In Sword of the Stars: The Pit - The Pilgrim DLC the word of the ancient Bloodweaver facility travels to the stars in hushed whispers and shadowy conversations, and thus Enoch The Shepherd, a holy warrior, must investigate. As one of a small, unique, but growing group of Zuul, determined to leave their savage birthright and terrible reputation behind, Enoch isn't descending into The Pit out of curiosity, but out of obligation. Whatever evil is still down there, it is on him to witness it, record it--and then purify it with fire.

Add another layer of cool content to your adventures in The Pit with Sword of the Stars: The Pit - The Pilgrim DLC for only $1.99 on GOG.com. Be advised: this DLC requires Sword of the Stars: The Pit - Gold Edition.

Telika: Also, would you, The Pit players, suggest starting the base game first, and progressively adding the DLC content, or just installing the "full" version for a first play ?

JudasIscariot: I would go all the way and run with everything installed. That way you get all the fun stuff all at once :D
Ok.

Was just a bit suspicious of the DLCs being some sort of "oh so you master the game to the point where it got super predictable and easy to you, well let us unleash the truly nasty stuff now". I wouldn't like this to be the first thing the game tells me after my "hello where am i ?".

The game was like that even before the first DLC came out :) Now they re refining the pain :D

Awesome. :-(

________

Also, I see that the pain starts even before installation. "The core game was not detected", says Gold Update. "Please install the GOG version" (yes, how many times ?) "or indicate the non-GOG version's folder in the Option screen" (what option screen ?). This game defeated me before launch.

Seriously, I'm not sure how to pass that. But it makes the Guardian of Games very angry.

________

Edit : Might be a mere versions issue. Re-downloading the previously downloaded stuff to try with updated files.

________

Reedit : Okay, solved. Had to install Mindgames between Pit and Gold update. :-/

God I hate DLCs logic.

Mindgames is probably the essential DLC, as it adds psionics to the game. Start there first, before adding all the new stuff from Gold and Pilgrim. Regardless of what version you play you'll usually die on level 15 looking for a f***ing cooker.

I endorse ooddaa. I´ve been playing one by one, following the rhythm that they were launched, since I got hooked by the first Pit. But for someone starting now, I´d say: base game + Mindagames first, then Gold + Pilgrim later. You will get used and will enjoy "full game" with this first part, and if looking for more content, Gold + Pilgrim will give you the flavor.

CharlesGrey: Why so negative, folks? Seriously, I can't wrap my head around why some people feel the need to complain about this release. If you enjoyed the game, then this release means you receive another 1GB or so worth of extra content, for about 2 dollars ( or ~1.49 Euro ). On the other hand, if you don't like the game for whatever reason... why would you even care about this release?

I've only played the main game so far, and have yet to try any of the expansions, but I have to say it's one of the best games of the genre, so I'll happily spend the few extra bucks to support the developer.
Do you really think the DLC weight 1.1 GB for so few content ? Mindgames + Base game is smaller...

I rather think the devs didn't provided a seperate installer , but reused the Gold Edition ..... Where i'm lost is why in this case the need to install 1.1 GB of content for so few new data ...

*lol* I ran out of ammo and food (found a cooker, but already ate all the ingredients because I had no recipes) simultaneously on level 16 on my first try (engineer, normal). Did a few "decypher runs" with the engineer after that. Now I'm trying with the scout. Level 12 so far and I still have my 5 SolForce rations from the beginning and 3 Food Pellets from scavenging the first floors. Had some luck with

*RECIPE-SPOILER*

Star-Bacon + Eggs (Bacon and Eggs) and Tarka Warbread (Sotswich, if put together with Cooked Meat, which is made from Raw Meat)

*RECIPE-SPOILER END*

And I've found four good weapons that use different ammo types (pistol rounds, flechette rounds, shotgun shells, energy cells). I'm slightly optimistic this time. The only downside: My inventory is full. No space for non-food ingredients or any aid devices...

RadonGOG: I´m neither a big fan of uncomplete Gold Editions nor a fan of DLCs.
And I´ve never played SOTS: The Pit. But I´m picking this one up anyways ;)
Maybe SOMEDAY I´ll start playing this top--reviewed game I´ve got in my shelf for a whole eternity...

Oh, but one thing is missing: An installer that installs EVERYTHING. Offering this as an alternative would be much smarter, wouldn´t it?
Oh yes, please!

GOG, if you decide to sell games here which have a lot of DLCs without doing something about making the whole experience hussle free?

Every owner of the DLCs should have some kind of a universal installer availible, in which he would simply tick the wanted components, and the rest of the installation was automatical.

This benefits everyone.
Apart from that, the separate installers would be still there, for people who for whichever reason preferred it that way.
