IronArcturus: I still wish there was some way to get C&C on GOG. Generals and Red Alert 2 were a lot of fun!
I have to say you have a good taste, those two are my favourite and i never like the tiberium ones, Generals was the only rts that i've played online (well, and that Starcraft 2 demo but i sucked at it and quitted after 2 games) and i have great memories of it.

Bigs: If you're THAT against Origin - why not hunt for C&C The First Decade - was a twin DVD pack with all games up to RA2 and its addons
Up to Generals: Zero Hour, actually.

When it comes to Generals there seem to be only two opinions: those that love it and those that hate it. I'm of the former because Generals was a nice change of pace. With all the other games, everything was either GDI/Nod or Allied/Soviet. The catchphrases from Generals were hilarious! "Behold: the bringer of Light!" "We will be generous!"

Red Alert 2 was great as well. It was a major improvement over the unbearably slow Tiberian Sun engine. I still remember how Tiberian Sun ran like utter crap on my old computer, but installing RA2 on the same computer ran so much better!
My favorite has always been Yuri's Revenge. Burnt countless hours online and offline, on that one. Even used to beat entire maps full of brutal enemies, with only one ally. My best strategy i have ever played.

Generals? I felt lukewarm about it. Not hate, but not like, i think.

Tiberium never got me interested enough to finish even a single campaign.

All in all, i am a red alert guy.
The only command and conquer I really played was 3 and I loved it!!! I had it for xbox 360 but it gave up on me lol.

Yuri's Revenge was great! It added a lot of cool, new vehicles. But it's too bad they didn't make any more expansions for Red Alert 2.

Shortly after Yuri's Revenge, if memory serves right, Westwood ceased existing.

Grargar: Because EA wants it exlusively on Origin. Yes, even the older games.
avatar
Barry_Woodward: Do you have a link to back that up or is it just speculation?
Evidently speculation, but seems likely.
I seem to recall there was someone at EA who was helping to get expansions added to the base games here. Who was that again? Maybe we can ask him about the chances of Command & Conquer coming to GOG on Twitter.

Vote for the series on the wishlist:

Eh, i'll give you that since it had a more "serious" tone compared with the rest of the series and it also removed the cutscenes with real actors (characteristic of the series).

"Ow! Ok, ok, i will work", "Shall i push the button", the GLA ones were great, such great memories! :)
Then a light of hope appeared, C&C Generals 2 was announced... then we've learned it was f2p... -.-"
I'll be honest, i'm not one of those guys diehard fans of franchises, i'll never buy a console for 1 franchise or be over excited for a new release but man, C&C and Warhammer 40k is the only two franchises that can mess with my feelings. So sad that i'll probably never play a good C&C again... that Twilight... urgggggghhhhhhh...
Voted Voted! Since almost the very moment those whishes had been added first at GoG!

Who would buy anything off from EA?

Well, with a name like that, what did you expect?

"Serious"? Generals was like one big 9/11 joke.

I don't know about 9/11, but the German version was unintentionally hilarious.

Ugh, any "Free 2 Play" game always turns out horrible. It's an obvious cash-grab from a company and there's always some micro-payment nonsense! EA basically destroyed the C&C series and it's really a shame. They also bought up so many really good companies, like Westwood and Bullfrog, only to disband them. :(
