Elmofongo: Just addressing that one criticism other than the janky action cinematography and overuse of explosions/destruction.

Also have you watched the old Transformers cartoons?
avatar
snowkatt: yes
all of them

including headmasters
masterforce ( urgh )
victory ( god help me )
zone ( ...jaysis )
bw II ( ....mein eyes !! )
bw neo ( ...i want to drink bleach now )
rid ( aaaaargh ! )
armada ( ...guh)
energon ( torture is more humane then this ! )
and cybertron
avatar
phaolo: Since when those crap Tranformers movies' main problem is just "having human characters"?
avatar
snowkatt: the only good thing about them is the special effects and the voice actors

there
thats easier then talking about all the bad things
What was wrong with Armada, excluding the Human kids? I grew up with the show.

I like the more modernized designs of the Transformers. I feel Armada is reletively faithful to the original 80s cartoon.

the fucking human kids
the human kids
the human kids

the pokemon mindset
the fact that the mini cons cant talk and are no real characters of their own

and why should armada be faithfull to the 80's cartoon ?

each transformers iteration is its own thing
armada is standalone
and so is G1

and the G1 cartoon isnt exactly top quality either

Yes, the kids. If it wasn't for the who vehicle of shows people (kids) love to watch in order to convey commercials to them (and now more than ever on an internet that *used* to be ad-free), there might not be some really cool shows shown to the masses.

Why do you think they have channels called "Children's Programming Network"?

At least the designs of the Transformers were cool.

Megatron as tank is much more fitting than Luger Megatron :P

You know from what I realized based on Snowkatts opinion.

The whole Transformers franchise has always been shit :P

With the sole exception to Beast Wars :)

hedwards: Because it's called "transformers" not "Puny Humans."

I refused to watch any of the movies after the first one turned out to be a BS movie about humans that just happened to have some transformers. Apart from the last 30 minutes that were just transformers, the rest of the movie was terrible.
avatar
Elmofongo: Did you watch the old cartoons I mentioned?
I rented a movie called Transformers and the plot could scarcely have had less to do with transformers. I've watched transformers cartoons, and they were generally about transformers.

Yeah, Thundercats were awesome... you couldn't get any less beast than that.

However, when it comes to vehicular transformation robot things, I think Voltron had them all beat. Not only was it several vehicles (the lions were my favorite) controlled by 'humans', but they turned into one giant ass-kicking robot with five brains.
Power Rangers was always the series with best transformations. I think that's undisputable.

Yes, some, even if I've never been a super fan.
It probably was one of the best western animated series in the 80', but.. there weren't exactly masterpieces.
Anime was starting to kick ass :P

Everything ever done good in books and comics has never, ever been done justifiably in the eyes of moviegoers who have read/seen them. At least Peter Jackson (also of "Bad Taste" fame) managed to pull off a very palatable first run on "Lord of the Rings".

BTW, if you can wash the afflecktion out of your mouth, the series of Daredevil they have on Netflix (without Ben Affleck) is an awesome watch.

I also saw a preview of a show called "Mr. Robot" which is going to be freaking awesome.

I pulled Disney's shorts down in High School. J/K. :)

Yeah, they showed animated films over here in the west (cartoons) while interspersing them with subliminal advertisement (subliminal to the parents) targeting breakfast cereal and children's toys to those watching the cartoons. We used to get those cereals and toys until the parents caught onto their ruse.

the series was produced and written in the usa but the actual animation is done by japanese ( toei toky movie shinsa ) a phillipino studio and south korea not taiwan ( akom)

.
the transformers cartoons movies and comics are usually stand alone
all they have in common are the fact that they are called transformers and have transformers in them

thats all
none of them are an adaption of each other
they are all stand alone continuities

..mostly anyway

explaining it more will make your head spin

Not really, the US has had the longest and most distinguished history of animation. The foreign stuff is mostly of lower quality.

Even the "low quality" stuff like Hana Barbera is better than most of the foreign stuff. And that's not even countng the really good stuff like what the Warner Brothers was releasing during the golden age.

As far as the studios go, those are more recent and usually it's not accurate to call them Japanese, Taiwanese or Philipino as they're being directed by foreigners.

and

toei and akom are repsonsible for the G1 cartoon animation

we can blame studio a-cat and actas inc for energons "animation"

oh and i didnt pull the phillipino studio out of my arse
http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Unknown_Filipino_animation_studio

we just dont know who they are or if they for that matter exist >.>
