InfraSuperman: Mostly because 70% of these overlong shitfests is god-awful comedy with unlikeable characters and only 30% is actually about Transformers. Admittedly, those last 30% also suck, since the action scenes are terrible.

The problem isn't that they do the same thing as the old versions, but that they do it very, very poorly.

tinyE: The death blow for me came when he announced he was tired of being famous and tired of the spotlight, and then showed up at a red carpet event in a tux with a paper bag on his head that said 'Don't take my picture'. Way to remove yourself from the spotlight. :P
avatar
InfraSuperman: Didn't the paper bag say "I'm not famous anymore", or did he pull that shit twice?
If its any consolation I liked Shia in the movie Fury.

Elmofongo: If its any consolation I liked Shia in the movie Fury.
Oddly, I thought he did alright in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

And I still don' think it is the worst movie ever. Rather harmless on the level of Jurassic Park 3. And I did watch Raiders of the Lost Ark.

snowkatt: because its called transformers
its a movie that should have a focus on the transformers not the humans

instead half of the movie focusses on boring unlikable humans with so called "humor"

if i watch transformers i expect transformers not 150 minutes of annoying humans co starring some transformers

beast machines was also totally human free

id rather read the comics anyway
more then meets the eye has been the best tf comic for 3 years now

most not all tf series that have PUNY FLESHLINGS !!! are from japan because for some vauge reason the audiance needs a hume identifying character

this was brought to obnoxious heights in masterforce where the whole damn cast were humans with transformer body ( it was basically a mech show with the transformers name )

and victory an awfull awfull series with unfunny humor ineffectual enemies and an annoying adopted human brat running around with the autobots

beast wars and beast machines are the sole entries with out any human protagonists ( which is why i like them so much )

armada energon and cybertron have a focus on humans again
( and energon is one of the worst series ever produced even worse then the bayformer movies those will actually end energon goes on and on and on and on for 52 episodes )

tf animated does it as well
but sari isnt quite what she seems
and there is a focus on human antagonists in animated because 1 decepticon usually is already more then the 5 autobots can handle ( yes 5 personally i want to see a huge cast again but thats a rant for another day )

prime has too many damn humans

no comment on rid other then : for gods sake not bumbelbee again !!!
avatar
sariaen: Because, if I recall correctly, the animated movie was about transforming robots from start to finish. It was about their planet, their political troubles etc. The movies were kind of nice but they switched the focus completely.
avatar
snowkatt: well there were still puny humes

daniel son of psiek tagged along
and we never really got rid of him in season 3 and in headmasters he was even one of the main characters

but usually its just 1 token human not half the bloody cast

except for masterforce where the cast are humans in tf bodies

pokeformers armada has an obnoxious focus on obnoxious kids as well

and prime has too many damn humans as well ( though not as obnoxious as the obnoxious kids from armada )
But I liked Armada, Energon. It was my proper introduction to the original "Vehicle" Transformers.

Also Misha from Transformers Energon is soooo CUTE:

I agree there, and I must say that I really, really like Jurassic Park 3.

That movie is TEN times better than The Lost World.

And people confuse me when they say they hated that "Raptor Dream" sequence.

...yeah about that series
it has a few ...problems http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Transformers:_Energon_%28cartoon%29#Conceptual_and_storytelling_flaws

>> Plotting

The primary flaw of Energon is that it simply does not have enough plot to fill 52 episodes. The first half of the series moves at a respectable pace, and around episode #20, the villains achieve their objective — the restoration of Unicron. However, because there are another 30 episodes to fill, an attack by the Autobots and their allies deactivates Unicron. The storyline is then essentially repeated for twenty more episodes, until Unicron is reactivated again and destroyed again. But even then, there are still thirteen more episodes to go, and with the driving aspect of the plot destroyed, viewers are served up a virtually pointless storyline full of repaints and combiners, which added nothing to what had already taken place.

Individual episodes are likewise padded out with time-killing scenes such as stock footage sequences, generally a minimum of three per episode. An incredible amount of time is consumed in communication and report scenes, in which the characters stand around in front of video screens and tell one another things that the viewers already know. <<

in other words its 20 episode of plot spread over 52 and instead of inventing moar new plot
it just repeat the same damn plot again !!
its awfull and thats the least of its worries to begin with

the whole of energon is one huge awfull undignified mess most transformers fans would prefer to pretend doesnt exist
and as a celebration of 20 years of transformers

wel it was a brick http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Brick_%28term%29 to the face
the bayformers movies are god awfull but even they are not as awfull as that miserable series

energon truely is the pits surpassing even bayformers and rid

Only thing I admire about Energon is how brutal and ruthless and efficient the Decepticons were. Megatron was at his ruthless in the show.

no no he wasnt
animated megatron he was ruthless and probably the most scary megatron ever

prime megatron anf the memagtron from the cybertron games both ruthless determined and insane

bw megatron he was insane and a schemer efficient and intelligent always ready with yet another scheme as his troops tried to backstab him and then finding out he already anticipated this

bm megatron he was ruthless tyrannical and a monster he killed his whole planet just to achieve his goal
and he nearly achieved his goal

compared to those monsters energon megatron is an amateur

bashing a grunts face in doesnt really compare to killing a whole planet and enslaving their souls while cannibalizing their bodies to create a drone army ;p

which is what bm megatron did

I find it interesting how people tend to latch on to minor elements like that and keep harping on about them.

After all, it's just a silly little gag and merely a few seconds long.

Since when those crap Tranformers movies' main problem is just "having human characters"?

Just addressing that one criticism other than the janky action cinematography and overuse of explosions/destruction.

Also have you watched the old Transformers cartoons?
