Painkiller and Shadow Man. Both games have fascinating worlds that should be explored and expanded more, but only by devs who understand the design philosophies behind them.
After progressing from Legend of Zelda to Grand Theft Auto to Mad Max to Death Race, the only reasonable inspiration for Jak 4 would be...Saw. All surviving characters are imprisoned in a death-trap in which the path to freedom is a harrowing series of deadly platforming puzzles where Jak and the friends he frees are tasked with making tough choices with gruesome consequences. At the end of it all, when everyone is either lucky to survive with crippling injuries or dead, revealing the villain will be a joke-twist and the challenge of defeating them depends on who has survived to assist Jak.

Cadaver747: In case you didn't know there is a sequel / spin-off in the same universe by Interplay (not E.Chani)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVaTB7EThbg
I know the game, but I've never played it. Since it didn't get a PC release and Chahi wasn't involved, I've never been interested in it. Is it good? Perhaps I should find a "let's play" on YouTube and see what I've missed.

EDIT: Now I feel silly since you've already provided a link with a full playthrough, lol. I had opened the link on a new tab and replied without checking it first. :)

FrodoBaggins: Dizzy was a hero in my gaming youth. Starting on the humble Spectrum, and continuing onto the PC.
We desperately need a new Dizzy game.

BreOl72: Exists already...kind of:

You can buy the NES-ROM here: (£ 4,99 / € 5,53 / $ 6,60)

Thanks for the links, BreOl72, I appreciate it. ( :
Sadly, Panic Dizzy is a remake of the old puzzle game, not one of the Dizzy adventures I loved.
Also, it's for NES, not PC. And I don't have a NES.
But thanks anyway. ( :

FrodoBaggins: A dormant series I wish could get revived?

I have to go with one of the best gaming series ever!

DIZZY! ( :

nightcraw1er.488: Wonderful memories of all those games from the first one! If you didn't know about it already, there is a website for fan games using a new engine:

So many wonderful games in that site! *delighted*
It's like a treasure trove of paradise for Dizzy fans. ( :

Manhunt

Time Splitters

Command & Conquer

Call of Juarez

Fable

Silent Hill

Saints Row (I'm aware that they are working on it, but it's still got time to be binned)

Those are a few of the one's I would like to see a new game in the series.
Bloodrayne with a third game using graphics from nowadays. Rayne is such a badass character and Laura Bailey voice is so sexy !

Breja: Exactly. Like I said, the maps were really boring. In fact, as is often the case, it was seeing it done so poorly here that really made me appreciate how important such well done maps in previous Disciples or games were. I kind of took them for granted untill I saw someone fail at it.
A more modern game in the genre that I felt did the maps an battles extremely well was HoMM6, at least from what I saw in the demo. Unfortunately, in a spectacularly stupid move, actual in-game single player mechanics were linked to the uplay client, so you only get the full single player experience if you're connected and Ubi's servers are in a good mood.
How about getting a proper turn based sequel to Fallout 2 without vampires and impossibly small mushroom clouds?
Let's see...
Definitely:
- Proper PB-made Gothic
- Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
- Krondor in the vein of Betrayal (with some updated controls and graphics, but that atmosphere and general gameplay I mean), not Return!
- Might and Magic mainly in the vein of 6 with some ease of use improvements
- The Spirit Engine
So and so:
- Quest for Glory in the vein of 2 and/or 3 (not 5 please! and wasn't keen on 4 either)
- Actual new Homeworld in the vein of the originals
- Drakensang
- Impressions' city builders (take your pick)
- Warcraft to follow 3
- The Incredible Machine because why not? :)
- Kohan
Sequels which would create a series, since there was a single game to begin with:
- Arcanum
- Transport Tycoon
- Anachronox (I mean, a sequel would be required to have the full game there)
- Evil Islands mainly just for the crafting system

Also, about the Disciples discussion, all I read does indeed indicate that Reincarnation really fixed 3 (haven't played to know though - and not adding it here because I'm counting it as not dormant based on that).

JAAHAS: How about getting a proper turn based sequel to Fallout 2 without vampires and impossibly small mushroom clouds?
Reminds me: I think it would be interesting to see an Elder Scrolls game in the style of the classic Fallout games. We've seen Fallout in TES style, how about TES in Fallout style?

(Of course, I would still like to see things like the spellmaker appear, and the game would be fantasy rather than post-apocalyptic science fiction, but it would have the graphical perspective and battle system of classic Fallout.)
