Breja: I couldn't get over how they changed the battles most of all. And how boring the maps were. Though I did actually play through the whole thing. I will admit the graphics were really nice for the most part, that's really the only saving grace that game had.
I suppose the hex based system could have worked if they designed the combat better, but they didn't and I wound up finding all the battles incredibly grating. But yes, I would've definitely preferred if they stuck to the 3x2 squad grid system that made it unique.

I will likewise admit that the art direction was superb (like D2 it really manages to nail the grimdark feel), though I found the world maps of D2 way better, both in appearance and design.

Breja: Definitely Disciples, but only if it would play like the first two, not the piece of crap that was 3.

Radiance1979: the last installment of disciples actually had a decent rating, not sure if this a dlc or a stand alone package but that is the one that actually received some praise

It's 3, but not the "original" 3 which I played (which was called Renaissance) but some kind of "enhanced edition" or "director's cut" or whatever. Maybe it's actually a substantial improvement over the original version, I've no idea. Or maybe most people just disagree with me and like Disciples 3 :D

Exactly. Like I said, the maps were really boring. In fact, as is often the case, it was seeing it done so poorly here that really made me appreciate how important such well done maps in previous Disciples or games were. I kind of took them for granted untill I saw someone fail at it.

no, i don't think so, most will wholeheartedly agree with you....

if you look at the steam ratings then disciples III and renaisance belong to the worst games ever released
reincarnation is done by another team which has more ground with the original 2 games

Well, if it ever comes to GOG I might give it a shot. Would be fitting, I've actully been replaying the first two games for a while now. It turned out t be quite an undertaking, they are far lengthier than I remembered. I guess as I kid I must have spent way more hours per day on them. But now I've only got the elven expansion for 2 left, and that will be that.
Arcanum: Great blend of Fantasy and sci-fi with a well built world and lore would love another game in this series.

Dead Space: The series got messed up when EA decided to make the series for a more mainstream audience and add microtransactions. Would be great if someone got the chance to take the series back to it's roots.

Quest for Glory: Really enjoyed this adventure/RPG hybrid and it could be brought back quite easily with the player as the hero's child or maybe the hero starting his own correspondence school and training new heroes. (I am aware of Hero-U but that is more focused on one class where QFG had 3... well 4 if you count the Paladin).
Elder scrolls circa Daggerfall. I'd love to see that game get a real sequel.
Just give me another BLOOD game that is done in the build engine like Ion Fury and another Quake game in the style of the first one and I'll be a very happy boy.

Radiance1979: did you by any chance give Satellite Reign a chance? its more or less the successor to syndicate wars
No, I haven't played it, I saw some screens a few years ago and had mixed feelings about it. Would you recommend it to someone who only likes the first Syndicate game? I never played Syndicate Wars as the 3D graphics put me off.

Monkey Island. I didn't realize it's been over a decade since Tales. It's time for a new adventure. Who knows? Ron Gilbert recently blogged about trying to register Monkey Island-related somain names. Perhaps something's on the works.

A proper Gothic (4 or 5) made by Piranha Bytes.

that is a tricky question. I'm not so sure what parts of syndicate changed between wars and 1st game. If the answer is : " only the graphics part changed " you and satellite reign might get along just fine.

i've only did a explorers run of satellite reign i might add

what i found was a nice little squad game in a persistent world filled with all kinds of puzzles people can live there brains out on. As a introduction you are tasked with freeing the other members of your soon to be famous richmen's hitman squad. Certain aspects such as upgrading and/or kidnapping other people with the mind control gun soon felt pretty familiar with the older game. After a while i became bored and stepped out to the genres responsible for that boredom namely grand strategy or the most well received sci fi adventures. I feel i only dipped toes and have the slight feeling that i left a grand world of bankrobbery, identity theft, and full scale corporate warfare tipped with exciting cyborg upgrades behind me but... who knows, every now and then the titles crosses my mind and if so on the right moment i will be sure to install and boot up satellite reign again.

I belief the game did fairly well in the reviewcorner and current user reviews say about a 3,5 out of 5 on the gog department and on steam you can find a very postive overal review rating. with on both sides a lot of reviews naming it a must for foundation fans

the price of 30 dollars on gog and 24 dollars on steam does sound a bit steep though there seems enough ground available to say yes to your question : " would you recommend ? "

I already own that one since the "buy" button popped up here on GOG.. ;) It's the fps I'm looking forward to playing the most when it's fully released sometime next year.
