75-90% off Duke Nukem 1+2, Duke Nukem 3D, Balls of Steel, Manhattan Project.

The Duke. Men want to be him, women want to be with him. The manliest of men, the ultimate male role model. He's been kicking ass on GOG.com for years, but on December 31 2015, Duke has to step out to get more bubble gum. On that day, all Duke Nukem games on GOG.com will be removed from our catalog, but we are in talks with the new rightsholders to bring them back as swiftly as possible. That's why we bid you a farewell for now, Duke: with every Duke Nukem game at 90% off as a bundle, or -75% individually.

The Duke's humble beginnings lie with Duke Nukem 1 + 2, two explosively cool run-n-gun platformers where Duke kicks his very first alien ass, travels in time, and authors "Why I'm SO Great" - a retrospective and autobiography. All in the year 1997, a dystopian near-future.

Years later, on January 29, 1996, our time: Duke makes history. Total meltdown follows the release of Duke Nukem 3D in which we finally see the world through the man's eyes. It's a world of pornography, violence, and candid obscenity. Duke's world. And we are entranced. By the campy risque, and by the unadulterated joy of Duke's violent adventures and one-liners.

Then, for years Duke rides the hype-train: in 1997, we behold his Balls of Steel - a pinball game warmly welcomed for its smooth, realistic physics and plenty of Duke on the side. In the year 2002, Duke goes back to basics in Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project, a modern 3D sidescrolling platformer that's nothing if not a fun and mindless pleasure.

This is not where the Duke Nukem legacy ends, but it is where we part ways - for now. So Farewell, Duke! The sale will last until December 31, 10:59 AM GMT. The games will be removed from sale soon thereafter, but they will not disappear from your shelf if you're an owner.
Come get some.

Last chance to get Dragonsphere for free.
With the start of the new year, Dragonshpere will no longer be a free game on GOG.com due to new publisher agreements. If you haven't claimed a copy for yourself, make sure to do so by December 31, 22:59 PM GMT - afterwards the game will be regularly priced at $5.99.

If you haven't yet, you can also check out our catalog of gaming freebies, where you'll find classics like Beneath a Steel Sky, Biomenace, Ultima IV and ten more!

Pheace: That's what I was asking. I don't think it's a strange question to ask when a game gets taken off the store. I do agree it makes the most sense that they should still work, but it's better to be sure than to just think they will.

Grargar: Well, gift codes from past removals (Descent, Fallout, Guilty Gear, Nordic catalog, XIII) have worked normally. The only cases that they didn't was a bug (which was fixed shortly thereafter) and the free Fallout codes that were given away during December 2013 (do note that the codes were invalidated before the games' removal).
There we go, that's what I was curious about, thanks
I guess this is kind of a mandatory post.

He finally got bent, off vent. Goodbye Duke, may your balls of steel shine on forever.

deonast: Nooo don't say that. I haven't got around to playing homeworld on steam yet (that I bought last special), I was living with the hope / delusion it might have been good.

zgrillo2004: believe me . its really fucking bad. no fuel, formations are broken as fuck and to top that off, integrated with steamworks so you are stuck with the horsefuckers and the freddyfags
ah the classic anti-steam circlerjerk still lives on its legacy

how adorable reading your uneducated moronic ramblings

This is sad news indeed. Duke Nukem 3D was the first FPS I had the pleasure of trying out. I had bought a copy off of Steam just before I discovered GOG. I got my Steam purchase refunded, even though it was the Megaton edition, because issues like DRM and personal information matter to me.

If GOG can get the Megaton edition sans DRM, I might be willing to fork over the money to have it. Fortunately I find myself in the rare position to take advantage of the marked down prices for the Duke Nukem games and I'm glad I have.
I recommend EDuke32: http://eduke32.com/

It is constantly being improved, as a matter of fact it is soon getting a new more modern renderer.

vicklemos: I wonder how many of us will actually download any Duke game (from GOG, of course) and play it till the end, manly tears included ;(

TodaysLoneWolf: I've been trying to complete DNMP, but with university and work I've been unable to. You do have a good point, however.

If I could complete at least one of the recently-purchased Duke games and thus help in bucking this trend I'll be happy. I'll probably chip at Manhattan Project day after day during winter break (programmed PS3 controller support via a third-party app) or play through and finish DN3D before the next semester starts.
Way to go, bud. Hoe you have fun!
Nordic Games has taked his games and gone. After a time, they came back.
Question, if we buy this now, where does the money go to?
Being as it may, I will not let peeps pressure me into buying Manhattan Project even though it's on my wish list.

It's a pretty good game, though.
This news has apparently gone viral, thanks to a PCGamer article.

Manhattan Project has some tough platforming but the humor is there and it's more than worth the regular price, let alone the sale price. I also have a Steam copy but for personal reasons I invest time on the GOG version.

IwubCheeze: Ummmmmm, GOG already stated that they were currently negotiating with the new rights holders. Isn't it a little too early to be spewing venom, bile and hate at Gearbox at this time?
Never. After what they did to Aliens Colonial Marines...NEVER.

I can heartily agree. They made so many improvements that it is difficult to play plain old Duke after trying out eDuke32.
