75-90% off Duke Nukem 1+2, Duke Nukem 3D, Balls of Steel, Manhattan Project.

The Duke. Men want to be him, women want to be with him. The manliest of men, the ultimate male role model. He's been kicking ass on GOG.com for years, but on December 31 2015, Duke has to step out to get more bubble gum. On that day, all Duke Nukem games on GOG.com will be removed from our catalog, but we are in talks with the new rightsholders to bring them back as swiftly as possible. That's why we bid you a farewell for now, Duke: with every Duke Nukem game at 90% off as a bundle, or -75% individually.

The Duke's humble beginnings lie with Duke Nukem 1 + 2, two explosively cool run-n-gun platformers where Duke kicks his very first alien ass, travels in time, and authors "Why I'm SO Great" - a retrospective and autobiography. All in the year 1997, a dystopian near-future.

Years later, on January 29, 1996, our time: Duke makes history. Total meltdown follows the release of Duke Nukem 3D in which we finally see the world through the man's eyes. It's a world of pornography, violence, and candid obscenity. Duke's world. And we are entranced. By the campy risque, and by the unadulterated joy of Duke's violent adventures and one-liners.

Then, for years Duke rides the hype-train: in 1997, we behold his Balls of Steel - a pinball game warmly welcomed for its smooth, realistic physics and plenty of Duke on the side. In the year 2002, Duke goes back to basics in Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project, a modern 3D sidescrolling platformer that's nothing if not a fun and mindless pleasure.

This is not where the Duke Nukem legacy ends, but it is where we part ways - for now. So Farewell, Duke! The sale will last until December 31, 10:59 AM GMT. The games will be removed from sale soon thereafter, but they will not disappear from your shelf if you're an owner.
Come get some.

Last chance to get Dragonsphere for free.
With the start of the new year, Dragonshpere will no longer be a free game on GOG.com due to new publisher agreements. If you haven't claimed a copy for yourself, make sure to do so by December 31, 22:59 PM GMT - afterwards the game will be regularly priced at $5.99.

If you haven't yet, you can also check out our catalog of gaming freebies, where you'll find classics like Beneath a Steel Sky, Biomenace, Ultima IV and ten more!
One question. Is the Duke Nukem 3D version on gog missing the expansion packs ?
I googled this and someone on a forum said yes, just want to confirm if this is true.

NuffCatnip: Okay, but even if they are the publisher and not the developer, they still had a say in the games development, but they didnt care enough to deliver a good or at least mediocre game.

...all I wanted was a playable Alien game. :/
SEGA is the publisher, Gearbox was supposed to be developer. Of course they had a say in games development, they didn't care much cause Borderlands 2 was far more important and that's where most of money SEGA gave them went in.

It's the Atomic Edition, meaning it "only" contains the expansion made by the original developers, the Plutonium Pak.

I think the third-party expansions by Sunstorm Interactive, "Duke it out in D.C." and "Duke Caribbean: Life's a Beach", are only available in the "Megaton Edition" remaster on Steam.

deonast: Wow who woke up on the wrong side of bed this morning. Since your not sitting in on the negotiations and the politics between the new / old rights owners and gog I'd put it that you aren't really in a position to judge. Neither am I. Grab it on sale or don't grab it on sale that is what GOG have got out of the previous rights holders.
That is a poor excuse. GOG/CDP are a multi-million dollar company and the second biggest digital platform (second to Steam). The fact that they were unable to secure the rights to decades old games means that they have failed and obviously have inadequate business and negotiation skills. It's not Gearbox's fault, it is GOG's JOB to fix situations like this, and they have failed to do so.

If anything, GOG continue constantly to remind their customers that despite them being a huge company, they still operate like 12-year old children running a lemonade stand.

Also, accusing someone of being in a "bad mood" just because I'm pointing out the obvious just shows your immaturity.

HunchBluntley: No, that's not-- You don't light-- [sighs] You're doing it all wrong!
But how else could you set someone on fire while simultaneously stabbing them?
It can't hurt to vote, even though this happening would be unlikely:

Hopefully WHEN (let's stay optimistic here) Duke comes back he can bring the megaton edition with him and still keep the "goodies" that come with the game. I hope the publisher doesn't take the Bethesda/Fallout route and bring back a stripped down, bare bones version without anything but the actual game.

PimPamPet: First Descent, now Duke? Hopefully this trend doesn't continue going forward...
Why is this the first time I'm hearing about Descent being removed? Why was there no news post about it?
EDIT: whoops, read the posts wrong.

Starmaker: This. Watching recent attitudes toward pricing, I can't even say with any certainty that the 0.00 price tag helped to popularize the game in any measurable manner: if anything, free as in beer games are perceived to be worse than they really are (e.g. Heroine's Quest).

Pica-Ludica: [rant]
Are people really dismissing Heroine Quest on the assumption that it must be terrible because it's free? REALLY? What the bloody hell. The game is as close as we could get to a new Quest for Glory game, it's an amazing tribute to the series. People pre-order AAA games and get burned every single time, yet are unwilling to give a brilliant free game a chance? That's beyond ludicrous. I officially don't understand humankind in its current state.

... I may need to rant more. *grumpf*
it is indie. indie is - for some people - just outright a swear word, alas.

shmerl: Is it owned by Gearbox?

Grargar: Yes.
From Mike Nielsen's statement on behalf of 3D Realms:
[...] And as big Duke fans, we’re excited to see what Gearbox has in store for the ‘King.’ [...]
From Frederik Schreiber's statement:
[...] as a long-time fan of Duke — I’m excited to see what Gearbox has in store for the ‘King’!
This sounds oddly like those statements that foreigners who've been imprisoned in North Korea are forced to read on camera for propaganda purposes. =P

I always wondered why gog kept telling me I don't own any of the Fallout series. It wasn't until today I learned the difference between the removed 'classic' series and the reintroduced whatever series.
I am so glad I got the classic games.

avatar
ValamirCleaver: You have me at a loss, what is the specific point about Beamdog?

we haven't had the final cut of vh
avatar
ValamirCleaver: Thank you for the reminder, wasn't the Final Cut supposed to be released back September?

avatar
ValamirCleaver: That a rather apropos clip, but for some reason I though it was going to be this song instead...
Beamdog are the delightful people who brought us bg with a widescreen at £many, then made a dlc which was only for thier version, I.e. Money grab.
