75-90% off Duke Nukem 1+2, Duke Nukem 3D, Balls of Steel, Manhattan Project.

The Duke. Men want to be him, women want to be with him. The manliest of men, the ultimate male role model. He's been kicking ass on GOG.com for years, but on December 31 2015, Duke has to step out to get more bubble gum. On that day, all Duke Nukem games on GOG.com will be removed from our catalog, but we are in talks with the new rightsholders to bring them back as swiftly as possible. That's why we bid you a farewell for now, Duke: with every Duke Nukem game at 90% off as a bundle, or -75% individually.

The Duke's humble beginnings lie with Duke Nukem 1 + 2, two explosively cool run-n-gun platformers where Duke kicks his very first alien ass, travels in time, and authors "Why I'm SO Great" - a retrospective and autobiography. All in the year 1997, a dystopian near-future.

Years later, on January 29, 1996, our time: Duke makes history. Total meltdown follows the release of Duke Nukem 3D in which we finally see the world through the man's eyes. It's a world of pornography, violence, and candid obscenity. Duke's world. And we are entranced. By the campy risque, and by the unadulterated joy of Duke's violent adventures and one-liners.

Then, for years Duke rides the hype-train: in 1997, we behold his Balls of Steel - a pinball game warmly welcomed for its smooth, realistic physics and plenty of Duke on the side. In the year 2002, Duke goes back to basics in Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project, a modern 3D sidescrolling platformer that's nothing if not a fun and mindless pleasure.

This is not where the Duke Nukem legacy ends, but it is where we part ways - for now. So Farewell, Duke! The sale will last until December 31, 10:59 AM GMT. The games will be removed from sale soon thereafter, but they will not disappear from your shelf if you're an owner.
Come get some.

Last chance to get Dragonsphere for free.
With the start of the new year, Dragonshpere will no longer be a free game on GOG.com due to new publisher agreements. If you haven't claimed a copy for yourself, make sure to do so by December 31, 22:59 PM GMT - afterwards the game will be regularly priced at $5.99.

If you haven't yet, you can also check out our catalog of gaming freebies, where you'll find classics like Beneath a Steel Sky, Biomenace, Ultima IV and ten more!

-cerberus-: Oh for fuck's sake. First Cryostasis, then The Dark Descent (which has returned) and now Duke?!
The list is much longer (sadly).
Grabbed 'em, but get 'em back quickly.
This is really sad news. Duke Nukem was a great series of the '90s.

Let's hope Duke will continue to kick ass and return in 2016!

Tpiom: Question: why is Duke Nukem's extras downloading the extras for Duke Nukem 2? Both the manual and the soundtrack are affected.
This happens with games that were originally bundled together in your library. Remember when GOG unbundled all games to be separate downloads some months ago? Instead of assigning specific extras to specific games, they just put all extras from the bundled download on every individual game's download page. There are a bunch of games where you'll have duplicate extras, don't worry about it.
Great news, because that means Gearbox should be soon on board. And that means at least Homeworld, and maybe some more.
So if the games does come back, does this mean we will get Duke Nukem Forever and the Duke Nukem 3D Megaton Edition as well?

It used to be a single Duke Nukem 1+2 pack with extras, then they split in two and duplicated the extras.
Woops, double post.

tfishell: Great games, I can definitely recommend Duke 3D and Manhattan Project.

I'm not too concerned, honestly. Remember Bethesda and everyone saying the same nasty things to them when Fallout was removed?
fallout did come back, but neutered.

if you had the original versions that interplay supplied, you got the games + a whole bunch of extras. once they came back under bethesda, those things were all gone. so i think people are right to be skeptical.

my suggestion? buy these, now. you don't know what state gearbox might release them in when they come back.

I think that's an overly optimistic view of the situation, to be honest. I wouldn't expect Gearbox to sign on with GOG.com anytime soon, if ever.

If I were to make an assumption here, I'd say that Duke 3D probably won't return at all for Germans.
I also wouldn't be to hard on Gearbox. I mean, sure, they are pretty terrible most of the time, and released a lot of bad, buggy games.
But in this case, it's not like they are grubbing their hands, laughing evilly while removing the games from the GOG.com catalogue because they hate gamers.
It's seems to me that they are simply getting the rights in 2016, and they haven't reached an agreement with GOG.com yet, so GOG simply can't sell the games - but since they are already in talks, I can't see really any fault with Gearbox in this case.

If they don't reach an agreement, and refuse to bring them back, than I'll be the first one to light the pitchforks. Until then, just calm down and let's see what happens.
im gonna grab these up for 60 cents each you cant beat that. You just know that it will be reintroduced at some ungodly price later, which seems to be the trend now that publishers are cluing in on the nostalgia factor being so big with us players. so thanks gog!

IwubCheeze: Ummmmmm, GOG already stated that they were currently negotiating with the new rights holders. Isn't it a little too early to be spewing venom, bile and hate at Gearbox at this time?
It's never too early to spew venom, bile and hate at one of the worst developer that sadly still exists today. Gearbox was and always will be horrendous and Randy Pitchford is one of the biggest assholes in the industry.
They continue to fuck up franchises like Homeworld now.
