Once the cannibals begin to don their monkey masks before the Crew enters grotto proper, Aylar will make sure everyone has their coverings, and will give each a proper couple squirts from the fungicide bottle. After arriving near the village and quickly conferring with his plotting companions, Aylar agrees with the second option; while he be hoping that the fungicide will give everyone a bit more breathing room, time is still of an importance and if the Crew are to encircle the Grung from both directions, their chances will be better.

He'll start off by teleporting south of the meal area and making sure that Kyp will be able to teleport, either taking the flask out of his coat pocket and using himself and his bright red hair as a visual reference, or quickly placing it within the closest sinkhole that's admitting sunlight if he decides that it won't be quickly and well seen enough at his position. He'll also be ready to defend for any incoming grung while he awaits the support of his team, and be wary in case if any of the huts nearby be occupied.

If the worst comes to pass and the smoke be set off before anyone else of his planned group has a chance to teleport in and do battle, he will move out of it to be visible to the Crew, selecting some other position for the group to give them at least a chance at a good shot despite the unforeseen complications.

Once the rest of his group successfully teleports in, he trusts that they will have situation at at least some level of control and will rush to the left, bounding over the woody walkway to the little pier where one of the spearfrogs is stationed, while constantly being mindful of his blowpipe matey nearby. While he has taken some precautions against the darts, wearing his sturdy longcoat, protecting his neck with the ascot and even adding some makeshift cloth wrappings over his hands, he will be alert and ready to dodge the potentially incoming dart. If he defeats the spearfrog quickly and soundly, he will rush the blowpipe grung, while at the same time trying to avoid running or lingering right in front of the hut opening where the sorceress would be able to easily spot him.

In addition, he will be following his secondary objective, now being closer to the sorceress' hut and trying to figure out her upcoming course of action - if he spots her exiting the hut, he will be ready to attack, if he hears her chanting right away, he'll be ready to vault through the side opening in her hut.

(And sure, while he will be surprised and a fair bit annoyed by Origi's smoke screen, once/if his sight becomes compromised by smoke, he be using his memory of the nearby area and his hearing to attempt to figure out where sorceress and any other enemies be either way.)

bjgamer: The ledge is to the NE - upper right corner - of the map above the trees/small pool, giving you the favorable line of sight. The path curves around and down to the upper land entry. I will roll if anyone wants to try jumping and shimmying down a tree and tearing down the palisade walls (sharpened log walls on map)
Okay, I thought we start right above entrance. So we can actually hit them from 3 points simultaneously (entrance, palisade and group teleported in the middle). I'll stick to my plan in previous post of sneaking to the main entrance and attacking from there.

Got it, and thank you for the clarity. (Still loving the picture of him dancing down the walkway ... I'll have to roll for the sheer audacity confusing the enemy. LOL!)

For the 'observations platform' the ledge was in that upper corner. The entry is to the N or up. Your post of going over the edge made me roll if trees are close enough or rope could reach without putting you in the swamp water. Yes, 2 trees are and if placed properly a rope can be lowered and climbed down, but there is still the palisade walls to consider = strength needed ...

Bellandra quickly whispers back, outlining her plan of action:

"There are by me count 24 grung around the village, and more including that sorceress perhaps in their huts or underneath the water - our party must be able to slay over 6 each time it be our turn to act, to keep apace 'ere we fall to the spores. Area of effect weapons be critical, otherwise we will not kill enough. I be agreeing we must take out the sorceress soon though 'ere her spell. Me sextant can try to freeze her as well to buy a little time if needed but it will not stop the damnable spores."

"I see Origi's rushed ahead, me sense suspects she might be about to use her smoke bomb. Mayhap, if we be quick with the teleporting, we teleporter crew can still get in and then Grog'tial and I may shoot 'ere Origi's bomb will detonate."

"If Kyp agrees and we succeed in teleporting where Aylar planned, me and Grog'tial be in bolt range of the sorceress hut (at least 5 grung loosely around it plus mayhap the sorceress herself), and of the meal area (8 grung there), though some may be obstructed by that structure in the meal area. Me primary target then be to fire a stun bolt at the meal area, to stun those. If I be prevented from doing that, and if the sorceress be in sight, methinks I would fire a stun bolt towards the alter area to stun her and others nearby. If those fail, then I would fire a regular bolt at a target. If any grung come too close or, mayhap, try to surprise us by springing up from underneath the waters, me cutlass be taking care of those."

"Pugwash, if we be taking care of the meal area, perhaps ye had best first fire at the chief's area instead, and only secondarily at the meal area. Also, remember we must kill, not only stun. And Grog'tial, it I handle the meal area, will ye stun the ones near the sorceress?"

"If we succeed in stunning any group of the grung, 'tis essential to kill them as quickly, otherwise time will run out. If all goes well, we can stun all three groups. Gilius, if you get close, try to use your vines to strangle three stunned at once - perhaps the ones near the alter? Baldbeard, use your spectral sharks to kill as many stunned as ye can - perhaps the ones near the chief's hut? Argy, ye can also toss your cupcakes at the stunned grung - perhaps the ones in the meal area? Durik, Dakka will also be essential to kill the stunned, or otherwise those close together."

"If Kyp's teleport fails, we be stuck on the ledge for awhile - then me hand crossbow can reach the chief's area here from the ledge, but not the other areas. Then I will target the chief's area to stun the grung there - Pugwash and Grog'tial, then ye target the sorceress hut and the meal area from here, and try to stun those grung. As before, if the grung be stunned, then Gilius, Baldbeard, and Argy are essential to kill them quickly.."

"If the worst happens and If I see the sorceress be casting a spell faster than expected, and she be in range of me sextant, or if I see the chief activate any magic device or if any dread foe appears, I be using me sextant to freeze that foe. However, I not be using it lightly, only if the danger is great - as I may need to spare it to buy time near the end of the sorceress's spell."

So, you mean by "The path curves around and down to the upper land entry. " it goes off screen on the map, north from swamp? (yellow arrow on my picture). In that case I will update my actions to just use path instead of jumping down.

I counted 26 enemies + the chief and the sorceress. We have 4 turns to end this, so that makes about 7 enemies to kill each turn. Since we are about a dozen, if each of us makes about 1 kill per turn, we're good.

-----

Gilius stands near the main entrance, not far from Count Karstein. Unless a stun bolt has been fired on the 3 guards before he acts, he uses his Staff to command vines nearby to entangle them all 3, in order to make it easier to him and any crewmate nearby to eliminate them easily. Then, he will charge them with the magical lantern in one hand and his cudgel in the other.

If the guards have been stunned before or if he can't entangle all 3 because they are too spaced, he won't waste his staff to call for the vines and will simply charge them.

Then if all goes well, he will follow the Count and support him if needed.

gogtrial34987: ooc assumptions:

1) the walkways are about 1m wide
2) the 3m area for stun bolts are radius, not diameter.
3) @GM: The way I read Origi's intended actions are that she is moving to a position from which she can see both chief and blowpipers, then throws the smoke marble toward one or two of the blow pipers (not the chief), and shoots the force missiles at the chief plus attendants.
4) I'm assuming that Argy can't throw a cupcake far enough to hit the meal area. If he can, I don't go there.
1) Incorrect. The walkways are over 1m wide.
2) When the GM means radius, the GM will usually say radius. ;) Your stun bolts cover a 3m diameter area total.
3) Origi's actions have been rolled as she amended and proposed to the GM. As she said nothing to anyone, Grog'tial and the others would not know her targets beforehand and should not metagame that. :P
4) Argy has also posted her actions and they have been rolled for her target as Argy stated - the Chief for his "birthday" LOL.

If Grog'tial conferred with Aylar then he would know Aylar's plan was to immediately head to take out the spear and blowpipe to the south of the sorceress' hut ... so please clarify to the GM - Grog'tial is intending to stun Aylar?

:) Nice use of the mirror, except ... to look at things in the Handmirror the mirror requires you to turn your back to item, looking at it over your shoulder. So again, to clarify for the GM - Grog'tial intends to walk backwards to the Grung to observe their poison and try to stab them behind his own back?

The initiatives are now rolled at the start each turn so I can keep up. As it has started taking 6-8 hours for me to roll these up, consult tables, research possibilities posed (yes I actually look up the requirements for an albatross, certain chemical reactions, physics, do mathematics, herbals etc. It helps to make the fantasy a touch more 'real'.), and to write a post tying in a story mode with character backgrounds also taken into consideration so that everyone can role play. I now actually start the night before with those posts already done slotted into their proper initiatives. The morning (my time) of the turn end I roll the new posts, slot them in and see if they change things for those characters behind them in initiative. In with this I am trying to take care of my RL stuff without a partner anymore to assist. Several last minute posts already put enough stress on your GM. So Grog'tial, Chill! I am already juggling as it is. Please stop trying to metagame other character's actions or batter your GM in an attempt to control and know every detail, and to redo everything in the last couple hours. Try to trust the system.

Mighty

Mighty was a bit overwhelmed. He has never seen a god, more so gods offspring but he agreed to plan of monkeys, to distract frogs/Grung with coconuts.

Looking at the two cannibals Mighty said to them:
“Good you will listen to Mighty now. I will call you “Bone” as you have bone in your nose” said Mighty pointed at one of them. “I will call you “Shorty” as you are shorter than Bone” added pointing at smaller of two. “You do as Mighty says.”
“We go with Captain Baldbeard, He has a music box that will protect us.”

Mighty applies the fire oil on his cudgel,
He instructs “Bone” to attack “s” (spear wielder) and “Shorty” to attack the “m” that is not attacked by Captain Baldbeard. Mighty will join the fight with the enemy that is not taken care by allies attacks. (those are enemies near the entrance)

Monkeys are asked to attack and distract “M&M’s” in the pond (machete welders), so that they are not facing camp entrance and return for further orders.

If enemies are dealt with before turn ends:

As they will move hastily south (hopefully not seeing them due to monkeys distraction Bone is asked to try to hit “m” the on left. Shorty the one on the right. (hopefully both are distracted).
If enemy comes to male range Mighty will try to shield himself and allies with Claw and attack with cudgel. He and canibals are using Aylar coverings.

Son of Monkey God is kept out of harm's way.

Mighty was proud of himself, it looks like borrowing “Book of Plots, Intrigue, and Politics” (whatever those things were) was paying itself off.

Grog'tial confers hastily with his fellow crew-mates, then gets ready to be teleported by Kyp. He takes slow and steady breaths through he face-covering, grateful for the added protection and his practice on the ship.

As soon as possible upon arriving south of the meal area, he fires a stun bolt at the altar platform in such a way as to stun the largest number of living/unstunned enemies there, without putting at risk any crew mates which he has seen moving into that area.

If before firing, he sees a smoke cloud covering the area, but two or more grung outside the smoke, he adjusts aim to make certain both those grung are stunned, while still taking into account the positioning of the other grung as he remembers it.

If it looks like he'd be able to stun no more than a single grung outside such a smoke cloud, he first checks the meal area. If two or more grung there are left unstunned, that's who he fires at (except if Bellandra has yet to fire, and is taking aim at the meal area, as then he'll trust in Bellandra's shooting).

Otherwise, he fires a stun bolt at the altar platform as originally intended.

Next, Grog'tial rushes toward a group of stunned enemies to kill them swiftly and efficiently with his dirk, urging Kyp to do the same. He'll be careful when killing the first, to minimize danger from their poison, but once he's learned how to kill stunned Grung without risk to himself, he'll take care of the others as swiftly as possible. Priority for Grog'tial is the altar area (leaving the meal area for Kyp), though he'll observe the movement of everyone else, and might focus on the meal area if no one at all is going there and all grung there are stunned.

If there are unstunned enemies targetting Grog'tial, they take priority, but if they're engaged with someone else, he'll ignore them.

If there's a smoke cloud obscuring the area in which any enemies are still alive, just before entering the smoke, he'll swiftly turn backward, try looking shortly in his handmirror to penetrate the smoke and find those enemies (grateful for the extensive practice he's had with the mirror), and will then turn forward again, attempting to kill those enemies based on what he observed. (When looking, he'll note the way, if any, in which their poison shows up in the mirror.)

If he ends up near the altar / sorceress, and (once) he's not actively engaging any enemies, he'll take a look at the altar / the sorceress' hut in his handmirror, specifically looking for traps, but not ignoring anything else special which shows up. If he's near the altar, and doesn't spot any traps, he'll grab the idol from the altar, as well as anything else he thinks might be useful.

If at any point during the mission he judges himself in immediate danger of any enemy within 6m of himself (e.g. darts being blown / spears being thrown at him), he'll blow his shell, and then treat all mesmerized enemies as highest priority stunned targets.

For all actions engaging enemies, where all other considerations are equal, Grog'tial's priority is blowpipe-wielder first, then spear-wielder, with machete-wielder last.
Small update (only first part changed):

Count Karnstein follows path and sneaks in shadows, using trees on the left side of entrance (as seen on the map) for cover. He'll wait hidden for stun bolt to hit guards at the entrance and will take down the grung closer to him, then another if needed.
If no crossbow user (Pugwash?) will go that way, he'll try to surprise guards with Gillius and whoever else will accompany them.

Right after entrance is secured, he will immediately run down the walkway, presumably drawing attention of machete wielding grungs around. He's inspired by book he has read prior and not merely moving but dancing around awestruck frogmen, who surely never saw anything like it, while dealing wide and deadly slashes aimed at limbs and torsos.

If he'll make it to the intersection leading to the chieftain's hut, Count will stop for a moment to scope things out before deciding in which direction he should go next.

gogtrial34987: urging Kyp to do the same.
"I like this plan a lot, lets hope luck is also on our side."

Kyp teleports people as planed and kills the stunned enemies Grog'tial shoots a stun bolt

If Kyp has time within the one turn Kyp starts fighting the enemies in the meal area as Grog'tial goes to the alter.
Donning his face covering, Pugwash remains on the ledge overlooking the Grotto.

When the assault starts, Pugwash will shoot a stun bolt bomb into the middle of the Chief's group. Pugwash will be aiming at the ground/grotto deck, not an individual person, so Pugwash expects the stun bolb shot to still be effective should the target be obscured for whatever reason.

If Pugwash sees that Bellandra's party has not teleported in, Pugwash will rapidly reload the crossbow with a second stun bolt bomb and shoot it at the meal group by the red tent, again targeting the ground rather than an individual grung.

If Bellanda's party still hasn't teleported in, Pugwash will rapidly reload his crossbow with a final stun bolt bomb towards the sorceress hut, aiming at the decking east of the doorway

Once all three groupings are stunned (either by him or by Bellandra or Grog'tial ), Pugwash will rapidly reload with ordinary bolts, Pugwash doesn't believe the grung are wearing armour, so thinks hardened bolts are unnecessary.

Pugwash believes his next most important aim is to support the Bellandra and Aylar party to the south.

He will do this by shooting to kill the blowpipe wielders, unless they have been already eliminated. The first one to shoot at will be the one to the far west, the second one will be the one north of the altar (which is hopefully already stunned).

If those targets is no longer visible (or alive), Pugwash will shoot at the spear wielders near the meal tent (kill shots).

If the spear wielders are no longer a threat, Pugwash will shoot to kill the machete wielders near the meal tent.

In the event that the grungs near the red tent are obscured, and the Chief's group is not, Pugwash will shoot them instead. Prioritising the chief before the others.

Mission 3, Grung Village Turn 2
*Current Turn ends 3AM UTC, 31 October*

Monkey Island Theme Music

GM Note - Several player actions this turn are conditional on another player's initiative, so several had their actions delayed until they could happen. Thankfully many of you posted actions in case your primary targets were not available, which helped greatly!
-----

Mighty was a bit overwhelmed. He has never seen a god, more so a god's offspring, but he agrees to the monkeys' plan to distract the Grung with coconuts. Looking at the two cannibals Mighty says. “Good you will listen to Mighty now. I will call you “Bone” as you have bone in your nose.” Mighty points at one of them. “I will call you “Shorty” as you are shorter than Bone” he adds pointing at smaller of the two.

Once the cannibals don their monkey masks, Aylar makes sure everyone has their face coverings, and gives each a proper couple squirts from the fungicide bottle, except for Bellandra's who has her own ointment. (roll dice) Captain Baldbeard takes out the small music box and opens it to play its quietly haunting tune, staying close to as many of his crew mates as possible, while also staying away from Gilius' magical Lantern, (roll dice) which Polly had Gilius turn down until needed, both to make things easier on Captain Baldbeard and to not draw attention too soon. Following the cannibals quietly to the ledge, the Crew looks over the village.

Bellandra looks over the ledge, counts the enemies and calculates the distances. "There are by me count 24 grung around the village, and more including that sorceress perhaps in their huts or underneath the water - our party must be able to slay them quickly 'ere we fall to the spores. Area of effect weapons be critical, otherwise we will not kill enough. I be agreeing we must take out the sorceress soon though 'ere her spell. Me sextant can try to freeze her as well to buy a little time if needed but it will not stop the damnable spores." She quickly outlines her plan of action. "If we succeed in teleporting to the south, me and Grog'tial be in bolt range of the sorceress hut, and of the meal area. Me primary target then be to fire a stun bolt at the meal area, to stun those. If any grung come too close or, mayhap, try to surprise us by springing up from underneath the waters, me cutlass be taking care of those." She then asks Pugwash to take care of stunning the Chief's area and for Grog'tial to do the same to the sorceress' area.

Mighty takes a firm grip on his cudgel and turns to "Bone" and "Shorty". “We go with Captain Baldbeard, He has a music box that will protect us,” he tells the cannibals. Looking over the village layout he instructs “Bone” to attack the spear wielder and “Shorty” to attack one of the machete guards. (roll dice) The monkeys return with coconuts, giving some to Bone and Shorty then listen to Mighty outline his plan as he asks them to attack and distract the 'frogs' in the pond so that they are not facing the entrance and return for further orders. (roll dice) The monkeys nod happily and take off again into the trees nearby, this time jumping from tree to tree quietly, intent on their goal as Mighty and the cannibals wait for Captain Baldbeard. Mighty is proud of himself, it looks like borrowing “Book of Plots, Intrigue, and Politics” (whatever those things were) is paying off.

Queen Origi is within Force Missile distance of the Chief, but to smoke marble the blowdarter near the altar that is the target she's set upon, she'll have to get within throwing distance. Its a time for action, not planning, she thinks. (roll dice) Origi swiftly sneaks down to the village. (roll dice) Her prince watches closely from the edge of the ledge, where he stays as having him running in behind her would attract the attention of the Grung to her. (roll dice) Taking advantage of trees, rocks, plants and her small stature, Origi manages to come close to the village. Using the bushes along the west (left) side of the land bridge, Origi wades stealthily into the edge of the swamp and creeps carefully to the hut at the very NW edge. (roll dice) Capitalizing on her small size, Origi scoots under the hut, then crawls under the walkway. (roll dice) She feels a touch of euphoria. The mushrooms greet her, their rich scent reminding her nostalgically of home. She crawls low and sneaky through them, (roll dice) not noticing the spores now clinging to her mask, totally intent on the turn following the main walkway south to where she can make the throw. (roll dice) What about the number 13? Oh yes, the marble will bestow her gift for 13', that was it, but she also has to read her proclamation to the Chief. It's very important that she do that.

(roll dice) Origi turns east under the narrow walkway to better be between her targets. She's positive she can crawl through these wonderful smelling flowers and bestow her beatific marble and then she shall read her royal proclamation. The Chief will immediately recognize her superior majesty and the truth of her Prince's love. (roll dice) Queen Origi rises triumphantly out from under the narrow east-west walkway to the south of a single small hut and graciously throws her magnanimous gift then turns and sighting the Chief, begins to read her royal proclamation to him.

Argy trusts her companions will follow the plan. The Chief is in sight, and Argy has a height advantage, but not the range to throw her cupcake. (roll dice) She hefts the cupcake in her hand, while trying to see how she can possibly get close enough (without swimming!) when "Shorty" taps her shoulder. He grins, pointing at the cupcake and then his cricket bat then swings the bat pointing at the Chief. (roll dice) Argy quickly realizes he must think the cupcake is like their cricket game with coconuts and shakes her head. Not wanting to take the chance the cupcake could explode on contact with the bat, she quickly mimes a 'BOOM'. (roll dice) The cannibal's eyes widen, then narrows in thought. Smiling, he pulls out a teak slingshot and passes it to Argy then turns and prepares to follow Mighty to the village. (roll dice) Argy calculates the distance, remembering the height advantage she currently has. It could work! Screaming "Happy B'day, chief!" in her mind so as not to give away everyone's position too early, Argy shoots the cupcake.

(roll dice) Count Karnstein quietly sneaks in shadows behind Queen Origi, (roll dice) losing sight of her as he nears the village. (roll dice) He uses the trees on the left side of entrance for cover, waiting for the guards at the entrance to be stunned or distracted, (roll dice) noticing that Gilius is quietly following using his own druidic ways of blending in.

(roll dice) Suddenly everything erupts into chaos. The monkeys in the trees above begin their noisy attack on the Grung soaking in the pond. (roll dice) As Queen Origi turns to read the scroll, smoke engulfs the blowpipe Grung, the altar and barely the closest spear guard by the sorceress' hut (1d4 = 3 turns), attracting the attention of the Chief and Grung nearby. (roll dice) The Chief makes a prodigious leap over his guards, his tongue shooting out to jerk Origi to him just as the force missile flies from her fingers to unerringly strike her target. It explodes in a bright burst of force, also dealing damage to any creatures adjacent to its primary target. (roll dice) The second smoke marble detonates from the force, covering the Chief's entire platform with smoke (1d4 =2 turns). Queen Origi had asked her prince to attack, but only if she was in mortal danger. (roll dice) Now the albatross launches from the ledge, barely missing the trees as he glides in to her rescue. He vanishes into the smoke just as Argy's cupcake arrives, blowing the platform apart.
