Doc0075: Awful England scrape through. Even when they took the lead and Slovakia were on the ropes, England reverted to their boring defensive Southgate Ball.
If they win the Euros nobody will care how they did it.
tbh England was saved by those 6 min of extra time
Spain really seems to be the best team. I don't know what could happen that would make them not to win the tournament. They are playing sending out the feeling that they can score anytime they want.
Well bugger me that bunch of ducks aimlessly drifting round their pond proved me wrong. By sheer luck I reckon. Slovakia were miles the better team.

They won't, once they meet Germany or Spain they will thrash England. It'll be another Scotland! At least that'll cheer the Scots up! :D

TBH I hope this year someone new wins it, ie, NOT Germany. Again. France. Again.

So France is in the QFs with all of three goals in their name and none of them, uh, proper goals, being two own goals and a penalty.
And Portugal sure had to fight for it, and CR7 missed in every way during the match. Actually, it doesn't actually count as him scoring in the tournament yet if it was only on penalties, does it?
This is by far the weakest, dullest tournament in my memory including Euros and World Cups.

It doesn't.

btw, best of luck for today.

Portugal-France should be good. I hope the pitch is big enough to house that much ineptitude.
there's going to be at least 42 shots off-target between Portugal and France

At least England wont take that particular record from them. They can't even get any shots at goal, off target or on!
And with Romania out, no uderdog made it through. Really shame considering abysmal performance of so many teams. Well, maybe Switzerland sort of, but at this point they have solid NT for many years. And whoever will win the last match today.
Next please
Turkey really lucked out that one huh, the rain was also hitting pretty hard in the second half which made some shots hard to pull off for Austria

About Switzerland, they were the obvious favorites against Italy considering how Italy played in the group stage. And Austria-Turkey (or however they want it spelled now) was the match with no clear favorite, but Austria did seem the better team, so maybe you can call it at least half a surprise to end the round.

Austria definitely did seem better, but they didn't have that England's luck. If they scored in the last minutes, they would most likely won. I'd like to cheer for Turkey to conquer Europe, but I have little faith in them to defeat another opponent. So I guess at this point I just hope England will win to piss everyone off :D
I was saying before the competition that France-Portugal was the probable final. Ended up being in the QFs because of France not winning the group, and I guess it was final-like in the sense that it was tight, but in terms of it actually being a good match, nice to watch, it sure wasn't.
And Cristiano is sure going to rue that pass when he could have taken the shot now that he was left without a goal (actual one, not on penalties) at this edition. Then again, considering how much he missed otherwise, might have missed that one too.
And France is now in the semis and still without any proper goal, just two own goals and a scored penalty...

As for Germany - Spain, according to the teams' form during the competition, that looked like the proper final. And while Spain quite clearly deserved the win... How exactly was that NOT a penalty for Germany in extra time?
