After AoE2:Age of Kings, the base game there was The Conqurors Expansion expandalone and later after the release of AoE2 HD, The Forgotten DLC expansion. Now the modding team which worked on the 2nd expansion has formed their own studio and announced collaboration with M$ to develop a 3rd expansion; probably to tout Win10.

AoE 2 Is definitely one of the best classic RTS games out there. Had tons of fun with that one!

I agree! And I still have fun with it - it is always installed on my HDD. ;-)
And I hope that it will run with the retail version of AoEII. [EDIT] Now I see it's for the HD version on steam. And my interest just died...

HD version was totally half-assedat best. But the vanilla version which uses the superior UserPatch performance fix is a leaner towards the Voobly MP client, which is more annoying and invasive than Steam (installed some stuff onto C/ even though I installed the client on F/).
Although for the MP, you have little options between the lagfest that is Steam (netcode straight out of 1999 baby!) or the less laggy and more closer region likely but invasive Voobly. Ofc you can always try bashing the hardest AI out there. I hear Barbie is quite a strong one these days.........

I still wish GOG could get a deal with Microsoft. Age of Empires was a great series that needs to be here!

I agree, and this fact makes it all the more nonsensical for Microsoft to have shut down Ensemble Studios.

Still not on GOG though.

When Microsoft sells it for less than a dollar on Humble with all proceeds going to charity, or it comes out on GOG, then we'll talk.
