Ragnarblackmane: Congratulations! What sorts of flavors do you anticipate?

Is that 97 in Mannish years or...? ;)
LOL! *After floating in touchdown number 783... at age 83, "halftime" has officially be changed to "naptime" or in common game slang "pill time"*

(I have to go easy - though no longer a huge football fan, my hometown QB isn't too far off ;) )

And I was hoping for more coffee... oddly subdued after including quite the huge dose of coldbrew. But I can't complain - after over a MONTH (!) of being flat I'm just happy it finally has nice bubbles! Still not sure what happened.

(We should continue this in your brewing thread, but I have to call it a night for now unfortunately, so repost this to that thread so I see the notification tomorrow:))
Then I suppose my pre-order will be delayed a few months, too. ;)

Tormentfan: In any other genre you might be right, no-one plays MMO's or shooters for the world and story (although I personally feel that that certainly doesn't excuse them from having them) but RPG's are an entirely different beast, with entirely different expectations.

RPG's EXIST for those things, it's was the sloe reason for their birth in the first place.
avatar
Fenixp: Do they? Do people only play RPGs for story and character interactions? Does vast majority of RPG players primarily expect this? User score of 4,5/5 on GOG, 8.8 on Metacritic and 93% on Steam, along with raving review scores would seem to suggest otherwise, but I am open to other sources ;-) I think you'll just have to do the same as I did with Dark Souls and accept that it's probably a great game, you're just not able to see its greatness due to a different set of expectations and prejudices. And no, you won't drag me into "What is an RPG?" debate :D
Yes, they do. RPG's come from PnP, in those the system served the storytelling..

It doesn't really matter the offshoot of reasons why other's may play them today, but primarily they are story experience.

Or I suppose you can be bullheaded and try to pull me into a "What is an RPG?" debate even after I have explicitly stated I'm not getting into it :D Oh well, when you actively refuse to understand, there's no helping you, so carry on I guess.

Yeah I am happy to wait for a quality optimized game and all...but if they are delaying for a stupid console that is supposedly easier to code for as they do not have as many MOBO, CPU, GPU combinations, that would suck.

It's a fact.

That's where RPG's come from, it's why they exist in the first place. There is no arguing with that.

..and you can take the hump as much as you want, it doesn't change anything, and CERTAINLY doesn't make you look the better for it.

I will say this though, for someone who likes to throw around the definition of intelligence as much as you do (this thread isn't the first place), you don't live up to any definition of it I know.
I would rather they delay it than release an overly buggy game.

Oh yeah I still regret the bygone times when games like Ultima 1-3, Wizardry 1-4, the early Gold Box Games and Might and Magics told epic stories in walls of texts that rival The Wheel of Time in scope...

And of course I've never heard of any Pen and Paper RPG group that gave a shit about story and just enjoyed maxing out their characters to defeat the traps and monsters the DM would throw at them...

And it's of course a fact the RPG was born in theatre drama groups that stumbled across a set of dice while searching for the King Lear script and not by some tabletop wargame geeks that started too invent little stories for their generals and heroes to give their hourlong battles a little more background and meaning...

Did... We just get from me arguing that Divinity: Original Sin is quite objectively not a bad game towards you telling me I'm not intelligent?

Look, so far, you have not given me a reason to get the hump - I frequent the boards to discuss videogames and am under the presumption that other people do as well, and so that's what I try to do. You're right, I get sligtly annoyed when someone's only argument is repeating the same sentence over and over, which is what you've been doing here, and I do need to learn to ignore those. To that end, I'm sorry, I don't like debating definition of RPGs, it's a topic which feels pointless to me and I have debated it to death, to no end on both sides of the argument. You, on the other hand, seem to get annoyed at me enough to start throwing ad hominems around, which I don't understand, but okay, I can just start ignoring your posts if that is your wish.

And no, I am not a very intelligent person and any suggestions I have made of me being one were in jest, thus the emoticons, see ;-) I just try to use a lot of fancy words (often incorrectly), because that's just the sort of person I am.
Well, as a pre-orderer this is a bummer. However for my part I'm not too down about it.
I very rarely pre-order a game, and then I have to have specific reasons for doing so. Content was sometimes one thing (and yes, I know this perpetuated the problem; I only pre-ordered based on added content in very rare cases where I knew I would be buying the game anyway. I have stopped using this as a reason for myself now).

Supporting devs and game studios that I really like is another, and that was most of the reason I bought TW3 early.

Considering I bought TW1 on sale, won TW2 here on a forum giveaway, and then prepurchased TW3 for a discounted rate because I owned the other two, I don't think it was necessarily a bad spend. If spread over all of the games it adds up to about $18 per game overall.

And to be honest, this is still coming out quicker than most of the KS campaigns I've supported in the past.

I do hope they get everything sorted. I have very few preconceived ideas going in, because I have only seen very little of the release material and am now avoiding trailers and things, awaiting the release date.

Just my thoughts and my 2 cents. Obviously I was looking forward to the game coming out in February, but I'll hold off on throwing my toys. I am still happy to give CDPR my money atm, where, for example, I have long since ceased to buy anything at all from EA - and there are some games I really want to finish there.
I'm ok with the delay. I'd rather play something reasonably tested and polished than a heap of bugs which would only frustrate me. And I know how software development works, so I'm not really surprised.

Thanks for the info, I will see it very relaxed and do not want to rush them or myself with this game.

Also, I have like so many other games to play until then :D

I have a long list of games to play that I wanted to churn through before getting to Wild Hunt. This definitely relaxes the playing schedule!

Dude, you're not worth the arguement any more, when you throw a fit like you did at that last post you lose all credibility.

I won't be replying to any more of your tripe, because talking to you is akin to headbutting a wall.

INB4.. 'I win'.. wearing someone down to resignation isn't a point in your favour.
