BoxOfSnoo: Fine, I didn't know that but almost irrelevant. Not what I'm saying.

It's the ROMs. That's what I've been talking about this whole time.

You can get a perfectly legal clone and plug in a physical cartridge and you're fine. As soon as you start dumping or downloading the ROMs you a) run afoul of Nintendo's license b) start getting way too complicated and technical for most people.

Buy box. Plug in. Play game. Doesn't that sound easy?

pimpmonkey2382.313: if you make roms of your own carts, it's completely legal.
No. It's not. Read. Their. License.

Would I do it myself? Yeah probably, but don't fool yourself that it's all hunky dory.

Nope... that was written by tech guys... it seems legal.

https://www.nintendo.com/corp/legal.jsp#copy_illegal

This was written by lawyers. Who kinda know the law.

Should I quote it again?

feel free to quote it again
cause if it wasnt legal why after 3 years is it still for sale ?
The question is would you rather Mini Nes or Mini Ness?

tinyE: The question is would you rather Mini Nes or Mini Ness?
mini nes off course
I see TinyE is calming the situation again. :)
Do we really need a mini Nes? Wasn't the full sized Nes causing enough trouble around here? http://www.slightlywarped.com/movies/A/images/drevil.jpg

There are loads of illegal things on the Internet for sale.

You know what, go ahead and torrent them for all I care. Grab some GOG games off those torrent sites too because you guys clearly don't care about TOS or licenses, or give any value to being on solid legal ground. Or even care about or notice Retrode's own opinion (translation: they were never really sure it is legal).

That's quite possibly, the dumbest thing I've ever read.

Obviously you didn't read my "Mini Ness" post.

Most of Snoo's posts have been dumber than that.
All in all, the idea of a tiny version of the NES is a great idea but the fact that there are and will be "only" 30 games makes is uninteresting again. It would be the easy and totally legal version of a Raspberry Pi that could do the same and wouldn't be limited to 30 set games.
I think Nintendo would be much better with the possibility to add more games to that little console somehow.

Nevertheless I'd like to see that project as a SNES or even N64 version. :=)
