Erm:
https://www.gog.com/games?system=lin_mint,lin_ubuntu&sort=date&page=1
There's 14 pages of games which should work on Linux.

As for recommended, depends what you like, what you have played, how much you got to spend, how much time etc.

Since you still haven't told us your preferences, here's all the games on GOG supporting Linux with a 4.5 star rating or more: LINK.

kinda looking for FPS like turok i have both versions on my steam/windows pc. I can't find anything similar in the GOG store for linux distro unfortunately, i guess i'll just have to wait
If you have Duke Nukem 3d you can play it on Linux
Using eduke32

Or shadow warrior 2013

If you are up to platformer then Dex is a solid one
Well, it's not an FPS like your looking for, but Shadow Tactics - Blades of the Shogun is easily one of the best games I've played in awhile. And, it runs perfectly on Linux. There's even a demo

The link posted by nightcraw1er.488 doesn't seem to work anymore, (probably site redesign) so just use the search functionality of the site.

In case you are on any OS other than the one specified, you might need to edit the .sh file or more.

1. Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun Demo - The website only gives info related to Ubuntu, but:-
-- I tried it on Manjaro KDE. .sh installation script ran without requiring any modifications.
-- Ran on internal Graphics of Intel Core i7 6700HQ @1080p; Graphics setting options: Low, Low, Half, Off, Half, On, Off, Off respectively as in menu with VSync Unlocked.
--Main Menu still tries to render at full quality, making it slow, but as the game starts, the Graphics Settings take effect and the game runs smoothly.
---Tried for > 1 hour and had no crashes. I would consider it stable as of now.

<I will add more info after I try out some of them>
