Grargar: That thread is dated. According to an earlier post in this very thread , Pillars of Eternity can run without the Steam client even on Windows.
good, still the list lack of mac info.
I tested it on osx and it is drm-free

No worries. I really appreciate all the work you do on this topic and the wiki. Mistakes happen. By the way: You forgot to add Slain! ;-)

Speaking of Slain!: I probably forgot to mention that you have to either rename the steam.exe or uninstall Steam altogether, otherwise it won't run. And it won't run either if you delete the steam_api.dll in the game's installation folder.

LiefLayer: Pillars of Eternity is Drm-free on mac (I tested it).
But there are some people that say is not drm-free on windows:

Why people keep saying games like Crusader Kings 2, Europa Universalis 4 or Pillars of Eternity can't be run without Steam is beyond me, because it has been proven by many different people on many occasions. Now running these games with DLC or multiplayer is a different story...

Ooh, a Mac game! It's rare that we get one of those, but I'll add it.

Also, yeah, a lot of the time, a game will use Steam if it detects it, and it won't if it doesn't. To be honest, I actually love when games do that, because it usually means it has a bunch of Steamworks features (achievements, leaderboards, Workshop support, etc.) while still being DRM-free if the customer wants it to be.

I prefer games which do use their own achievement system in game even though they are able to use the steam ones as well because that means that no steam would be needed at all.

Hotline Miami is already in the list (and unfortunately only the original English version is working). Hotlime Miami 2 however was missing. Thank you for the confirmation.

Solarix seems to be DRM free on Windows, have to run the UDK.exe in the SteamApps/common/Solarix/Binaries/win32 folder

win 7 64 bits 8gb ram (same pc but win7 recognises more ram)


i have some games aswell that run, i dont know if they are posted already (>20 pages to check)

90% of the games were bought on sale ofcourse :D

at 9 cents to 1.99 euro

some games were bought at listprice: 2.99 to 4.99 max.
so thats quite cheap, i wont spend more then 5 bucks on 1 game, usually its only at sales

Not anymore, I moved my FF-X Remaster onto my friends computer who doesn't own in and it runs.

Haha, I came here to namedrop both of these. I'm stunned that a game as massive as FFX is now completely portable. Square's been making a lot of good moves lately.
