Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Kennethor: I found Torchlight fun even thou I usually favor something deeper, but its a very good timekiller.

itchy01ca01: How is it compared to Torchlight 2?
In my opinion theres no reason to play the original Torchlight because 2 does everything bigger and better.

itchy01ca01: How is it compared to Torchlight 2?
Have'nt played it but as Always some people prefer the first while some like the second more. This is a good deal anyway. Sorry I can't help you more :)

itchy01ca01: How is it compared to Torchlight 2?
Roughly the same, with a few less options. I actually like it more, but I tend to prefer originals to sequels most of the time.
avatar
GabiMoro: and Heroes of Might and Magic 3 I would say.
avatar
shadowbaneaxe: HoMM 3 went remarkably slow last time I saw it. Everyone who knows about it and likes TBS games has it already, I think.
Yeah? I missed Heroes 3 second sale.
Does anyone know if there are limits on paypal transactions? I've been buying 1.. or 2.. or 7 games I didn't plan on buying, and now I'm worried that paypal will get suspicious about my purchases in the past 2 days. If it doesn't work when Don't Starve comes up I'm going to cry!

SovietSharkey: Its the free a few months ago Torchlight
Watching TV for a while should be safe then

CorranHorn: I wouldn´t bet on it;).
Yeah it has been free for a day few months ago...got my gog copy this way
avatar
Buenro-games: Torchlight is a good game. I think some people are trashing it just because it was part of a free giveaway promotion. It's well regarded as far as I know. Watch it sell pretty well.
I bought it on Steam quite a while ago (and later got it for free on GOG), and played through it. Overall, it's somewhere between Diablo 1 and 2 - mainly due to the weak story and single town.

It's definitely value for money at $3 if you like the genre.

ZapMcRaygunn: Torchlight may be a Keaner because it has already been given away as a freebie during a promo and it's an indie (although technically made by veterans of AAA games.)
avatar
fraien08: I'd say it's passing decently quickly, for the time being.
Good. Torchlight is actually a very good game, and I'm happy to see it succeed..and maybe we will even get Torchlight 2 here.

It's less open than Torchlight 2 and more obviously linear, but I really enjoyed it.

If they get you, they'll get a lot of us. I'm up to 10 transactions, and there are probably people with more.

Minmataro: The game is still great even though its aged... its like Doom or planescape just brilliant games.

ahab: It is good but it's not the be all and end all and it had some problems
Every single game ever done has problems. There's no such thing as a perfect game.
I love, for example (not referring to your specific comment) how people nowadays mark Deus Ex as faulty because of enemy AI and then praise games like The Last of Us with an AI that's way worse. You say it's seen through nostalgia glasses, i say you are looking it through a big pair of snobish hipster glasses. Everyone is entitled to his opinion, i guess.

P.S. And, BTW, it's hardly nostalgia in my own case since i played it for the first time a couple years ago. Still a masterpiece.

itchy01ca01: How is it compared to Torchlight 2?
1st torchlight is closer to Diablo 2, as in there arn't any charge systems. Also, only 3 classes, but a decent amount of customization. The underlying gameplay is solid enough to make the game great, despite a story that's easy to ignore. Ability to send pet to town to sell any and all loot you don't want is awesome.
" did i miss NWN 2? "

"yes you did "

" ok, then i can kill myself ^^ "
