Thief and Thief and Thief yet again.
I don't think i could pick a best game of all time.
Seeing how i have yet to play all games know to man, monkey, undead, vampire and evil undead liches.
One of the best games rpgs i have played would be dragon ago origins.
combat harder and more fun then that other game .beats that other game in story.
no i will not say what that other game is. yes i am evil like that.

If a game were to call out to me in my sleep and haunt me, play.... me... play me! PLAYME!!!
It would be Planescape Torment.
Stories like that just aren't told anymore.
Populous.
No other game had that much innovation and impact on release.

KavazovAngel: Definitely... Real Life!

I always hated the fact, that I can't reload when I screw up - so no.

The single best game I came across is Terranigma.
And I am sure 50% of you don't know of it's existence since it wasn't released on the USA due religious motives.
I preferred Soulblazer over Terranigma. But I enjoyed playing Terranigma a lot.

Soul Blazer was also great, but Terranigma has something more to offer for elaboration.
SB is just like a sprite version of Dark Cloud, minus all the RPG-features. You go around, beat the shit out the monsters, resurrect live and buildings until being stopped at one point, go back, talk with animals/humans, enter their dreams, get items, and continue.
Really repetitive, but still a wonderful game for everything else, from enemies til characters. BTW, Illusion of Gaia took over most of the enemy sheets, lol.
Terranigma on the other hand... it's just mindblowing epic. And you know what I mean by that.
Daggerfall and nothing else!

Dark Cloud (2000) is just a 3D version of Soulblazer (1992). ;)
I liked the concept of these games. Too bad the real ending of Dark Cloud was extremely boring to unlock. That's something I dislike with some of the "Level 5 inc" games.

Dark Cloud was even to long for my taste. Honestly, all those levels could've been minimized, and the damn quicktime events can go to hell.
Soul Blazor is awesome and classic, but unfortunately, I haven't been grown up with the game unlike IoG and Terranigma(It wasn't released in Germany), so I can't praise it much as Terra.
my favorites are freespace 2, star control 2, system shock 2... lots of 2s. Out of those, the ones I've gotten the most play out of was probably star con 2, I played it over and over and over again. Although Civ 2 is good too.
Planescape Torment and Morrowind are my favourites. Europa Universalis 3 and Alpha Centauri are very close, but a little bit behind.
I may get a lot of hate for this, but I believe the best game ever made is... Tetris. Yes, Tetris. The balance is perfect. It's something you can pick up and play any time, and it never gets old. It's on almost every electronic device. People who don't buy mobile games on their phones buy Tetris. The music is legend and is instantly recognizable. It starts out easy, then offers a real challenge later on. Yes, Tetris may be the best game ever created.
Baldurs gate 2 - Shadows of Amn
A lot of great games out there, but nothing has given me more fun than this one, an example to rpg's everywhere.

I think you're onto something here.
