It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

For quite some time now, the review system on our platform hasn’t been ideal. And we know just how important reviews are, both for discovering new games and for sharing your own experiences with them.

That’s why we’re excited to announce that we’ve rebuilt the review system to make it clearer, easier to use, and more helpful for everyone.

So, what’s new?

Edit or delete your reviews anytime (with timestamps to keep changes transparent).

Better summaries with rating breakdowns at a glance.

Your own review is always pinned on top, so you can find it right away.

A dedicated “Reviews” tab on your profile (with the option to make it visible or hidden).

Up to 8,000 characters per review, plus better formatting, smoother scrolling, and dark mode support.

Improved reporting flow to help keep reviews fair and constructive.

We hope you’ll enjoy these changes and that they’ll inspire you to write more reviews, or even post your very first one!

Check out your new “Reviews” tab HERE.

eiii: I would like to have that ability too, as I've already pressed the wrong button a few times and could not fix that mistake. But when I try to change a vote for a review I only get a "You already voted" message and the vote stays as it is. Is there any trick to change it?
Try clicking the incorrect button again to see if it unpops.

Ha! Thanks a lot. :)

Yeah, it isn't exactly smart design, but then again, I'm the sort who would say, "We'll redesign it so that you slide it to the one you want and a little checkbox confirms after it locks into place", which might be someone else's nightmare.

klappis: A good thing! But are GOG aware that the link in their post doesn't work?
avatar
Cavalary: It works if your profile is enabled. That's currently the only way to see all your reviews.
Of course this page should work for everyone, not only for those with a public profile.

Aye. The profile is useless to me, someone who doesn't use Galaxy, but a review index would be the cat's meow. I have only 70 or so reviews on file, but imagine the serious reviewer with over 100. That'd be a lot of tracking.

gogtrial34987: So, that upgrades this from a minor to a large-ish annoyance. I guess I'll write some user CSS to hide that box permanently, since I doubt I'll ever care to write a review.
Or when you use uBlock add a filter:
www.gog.com##.ng-scope > .reviews__main-col

At least it also allows you to remove a vote, not only to change it between yes and no, which is not too bad. :)

After some consideration, I can't say I like the "verified owner" tag as it is now. I feel it was more noticeable where it was before (or somewhere in that vicinity at least -- around the rating and post date). I also think it should be made to stand out a little more: different text color, font, circle around it -- something. Where it is now, and how it looks now, that line just blends in too much.

I agree.
avatar
dnovraD: Perhaps they owned it originally but haven't bought it yet on GOG, and wanted to refresh themselves of some of the details?
Definitely, but I meant people who haven't played the game at all. I was alluding to a previous discussion on this thread, where leaving a review after just having watched a video on it was being addressed as having the same validity as one written by someone who had played it.

BreOl72: ...
Yeah, those rose-colored glasses the passing of time puts over our eyes can sometimes be quite deceiving. When it comes to reviews, I agree with both maintaining a certain degree of skepticism and also trusting reputable sources. The ones written here can be pretty helpful as well, especially when it comes to pointing out specific issues like lack of updates, compatibility, etc. So yeah, hopefully this new system will incentivize helpful feedback.

Oh, that's another reason I disabled the profile: It pings you for absolutely inane bullshit. I don't care that Darfjlor is playing Arkhangelsk to Berlin: A Bike Race.

So once again, I'm asking for a profile agnostic reviews page.

How do you mean? I don't think I've ever gotten a notification about what somebody else is playing (other than maybe on the profile page itself, which I basically never visit).

Do you use any GOG add-on, e.g. Barefoot Essentials?

I do, yes. Is that part of it?

I believe that if you go to:
About -> Barefoot Essentials -> Navigation Bar -> Hide notification dot for -> Activity feed
and check that checkbox, the alerts will disappear.

Ah, that'll do it. Useless feature to get pinged when someone happens to open a game.

In fact, here's a wishlist entry!
