For quite some time now, the review system on our platform hasn’t been ideal. And we know just how important reviews are, both for discovering new games and for sharing your own experiences with them.

That’s why we’re excited to announce that we’ve rebuilt the review system to make it clearer, easier to use, and more helpful for everyone.

So, what’s new?

Edit or delete your reviews anytime (with timestamps to keep changes transparent).

Better summaries with rating breakdowns at a glance.

Your own review is always pinned on top, so you can find it right away.

A dedicated “Reviews” tab on your profile (with the option to make it visible or hidden).

Up to 8,000 characters per review, plus better formatting, smoother scrolling, and dark mode support.

Improved reporting flow to help keep reviews fair and constructive.

We hope you’ll enjoy these changes and that they’ll inspire you to write more reviews, or even post your very first one!

Check out your new “Reviews” tab HERE.

Breja: Still, the one thing this disagreement illustrates well is that noone should decide for others what reviews they should have access to.
Yep. Everybody has their own will to find the reviews relevant to them. Limiting the inputs (besides things like spam reviews) helps nobody, supposing there are adequate filtering tools.

I'm really glad that GOG seem to be working on fixing some of the longstanding issues on their platform — like dark mode, dynamic pricing, etc. The inability to edit my reviews was driving me up a wall before because I'd often forget to include something or make an error which I can't correct later. I'm glad we no longer have to contact support to edit our reviews either. I also really love that I can easily find the reviews I've written before.

Great job, GOG team! Keep it up. :-)

Shalashaska188: > Improved reporting flow to help keep reviews fair and constructive.

What is that supposed to mean? Who decides if my opinion on a game is "fair and constructive"?
Its just me shouting in to the void about video games.
To this I have to say:
There are a lot of worthless chaff reviews on the site. People who wrote "gsahusahifgas" because GOG nagged them after exiting a game in Galaxy, or reviews from people who couldn't empty a boot. A plethora of outdated reviews (GOG's fruit butter programme aside.), and of course the occasional MRA/Anti-whatever reviewer who's going to complain about various irrelevant things.
Good job, GOG Team! The new Reviews system looks great at first glance.

Unfortunately, the "Verified owner" tag is still not applied properly. I hope you can fix that too in a timely manner.

SENSHOCK: My review is valid though.

Breja: I'm sorry "you just didn't like my answer" to your question. Maybe don't ask question you don't actually want answered.

avatar
SENSHOCK: As i said i don't need to to qualify to a standard that you don't set.
avatar
Breja: The standard is "actual first hand experience with the thing you're reviewing". I have no idea how that was not clear by now.

No, you don't have to qualify. Just as I don't need to consider your reviews valid. Simple, right?
Indeed, it's very simple, just like your mind.
Thank you GOG team!

Though please keep on fine tuning it of any quirks (that some have pointed out) when you get the chance. :)

Anyway, good to see these changes. Oh, and as some have already mentioned, it would be nice to view the @me\review page with the Profile disabled. I'd really like to avoid enabling my Profile every time I need to check.

No rush though, just whenever you folks get around to it, I hope you consider the option if it's possible. :)

Good to see this change. That will make things easier. Well done gog.
