I've just noticed how appropriate this is by now:

I heard they're planning a 'main menu font' DLC. :P
I take a bigger issue with this being the only release today (so far anyway) instead of an actual game. While I do think this should be free, I also believe people can vote with their wallet. At best I could spend $1 on this in a sale because I do believe people should be compensated for their work, however more goodwill is achieved by not charging on the little things.

I'm not sure I agree with people giving it bad reviews though based on the price and not the actual content, especially if they did not buy it.

I'm not really opposed to paid DLC, but the value here seems way off. If you're going to offer DLC with zero new gameplay elements, then at least provide a more significant amount of graphics. In its current form, this seems like something other publishers/devs would give away for free. In fact, maybe that's what they should have done, to draw some attention towards their game and boost sales. Well, at least they did get attention...

Also, is it just me or are these portraits kind of boring? They're well painted, but they all look like pretty, feminine 20- or 30-somethings. Not enough variety in appearance and personality for me, and why are they all human? Doesn't the game have demons and other non-humans?

If nothing else, one should probably take this DLC as a warning for what's yet to come...

Vythonaut: Nearly every GOG game has avatars as an extra -- well, there's your portraits! Also, there is a shipload of high quality portraits for games like Baldur's Gate & Arcanum etc. out there. For free. It seems that gone are the days when one couldn't decide which portrait to use for their character, out of a multitude of options that every good game was shipped with back then...

Chandoraa: Yeah, I think the time has come to stop regarding GOG as being any better than any other store.

Vythonaut: As i see it, I don't think GOG has the choice to reject this or any other DLC -- they must have some kind of agreement with this publisher that includes a line or two about DLCs or anything else the publisher wants to sell. Not accepting this means they can't sell the whole game, which would be bad for GOG & it's customers.
yeah. Agreed, GOG cannot be held accountable for the stupid that devs get up to. If Paradox wan't to sully their name, so be it, but DO NOT talk shit about GOG being responsible. If you don't like this crap then don't buy it... It does sadden me tho, that such a promising concept gets such lackluster treatment.

well this game is now actually removed from my wishlist ^^.
I actually dont mind the dlc itself that much but given the fact that they missed a few of their kickstarter goals a dlc like this gets a special bad taste - i mean releasing something like this for free now would be a bit better to appease the backers than to do some money grab now

This would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad.

This is disgusting...
I would buy a Horse Armor Pack for twice the price instantly, but will pass on this one here.

You're mistaking "Tyranny" with "Torment: Tides of Numenera". Tyranny was not Kickstarted.

Reever: Paying for extra portraits?

Starmaker: How is it different from paying for a copy of the game?

You know, CD Projekt Red actually included naked pictures for free with Witcher 2.

Just sayin, that's a pretty high bar they set.

This is getting ridiculous.

Let me look into my crystal ball, 5 years in the future:

In a mighty fight you face the end of one of your adventures, given to you by a king whose land is fallen prey to a mighty demon, you now stand face to face to this evil spawn.

A tough 30 minute fight later, you open a chest you did find in a hidden chamber of the demon's cave: "You have found the "Plate Armor of the Deep" and the "Bulwark of the Great Dragon". To equip this armor (5.99 $) and the shield(4.99 $) please press the "BUY" button in the right lower corner of this window. If you want ignore the loot press close."

But who? Depending of the character, that could be a bad extra.
