"But if you tame me, then we shall need each other".

The developers promised to deliver a DRM-free version of the game and this is them honoring that promise!

RiME, the beautifully evocative puzzle adventure of a boy and a fox exploring a wondrous island, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 10% launch discount.

You are unsure of what lies ahead and how to approach it. Guided by your instincts and inherent curiosity, you follow this strange fox and start studying the environment for clues, secrets, and hidden interactions. The beauty of the island and its strange inhabitants will eventually reveal themselves to you but when that happens, will you still be that same impressionable boy?

The 10% discount lasts until June 23, 1PM UTC.

In the Press:

"In paring back its design and focusing on only a few key elements, the studio has created an uncommonly beautiful, open-hearted game." - 9/10 EDGE

"I haven't played anything like this since Journey. It is a stunning game to explore and exist in, and the story is going to move a lot of people." - 9/10 God is a Geek

Watch the lovely trailer.

Anyone else getting ridiculous levels of heat when playing this?

I have an i7-7700 and a GTX 1060, pretty sure I shouldn't need to drop the graphics quality to low and limit the framerate to 30 in order to keep my PC under 80C.
I commented on Steam forums when they removed Denuvo that it would be even better if they released the game DRM Free on GOG, really cool to see that actually happen so soon. On the wishlist it goes until its in my price range.
i wonder how much they spent on the Denuvo wich didnt work.
Kinda wasted money if you ask me.
I dont think such mesures are cheap especially since you need to keep paying for it since you need to patch in a new version each time somone cracks it.(sub pay/montlhy or yearly+set up cost)

It woud be interesting to see if they spent more on Denuvo than they earned in the intial sales.
But i guess such infomation is go.ing to be put a lid on.
Oh... My... GOG... this is the very bestestest (3 times more than the normal best) surprise I've had this year. There are no words, so thanks will have to do: THANKS!

d(^v^)b
Oh, man. Screw Tequila Works!

After all the BS they used to justify screwing over consumers, I don't intend to give these sc*mbags my money. Even now that the game is on GoG.

Nice that dev finally put Rime here !
They just promised that they would remove denuvo, not that the game will go on GoG so that's even a better news.
Will buy as soon as i have some funds. One of the game i was looking for this year and it doesn't seem to disappoint.
looks good, love the music, wishlisted
I'll pass on this deal. The devs and publisher are to blame for awful PR they did with legit consumers.
Will wait for a sweet deal to grab it.

mistermumbles: I believe that'd be Inside.
Oh, that's on my wishlist (thanks to the system requirements). Did they remove Denuvo voluntarily or also only after it had been cracked?

Only after it had been cracked. But they previously had announced exactly that: "if the game is cracked, we (developers) will remove Denuvo".

Hey strange game dev.
I bought Skylar and Plux on release here and both me and the games creator did not have to argue about Denuvo. Was a fun experience all the way through.
I wish more people were like that.
If you still believe the myth that DRM impact sales than look at DRM free worldwide launch of Witcher 3.
Rather, in my case, I'm not buying your game right now because it looks soulless and dull.

mechmouse: Yes the developers said "once cracked we won't patch a new version of Denuvo in", but they never directly said they'd remove the previous version of Denuvo

Grargar: Except they did say exactly that:

We are very committed to this, but also to the simple fact that nothing is infallible. That being said, if RIME is cracked we will release a Denuvo free version of RiME and update existing platforms.

Grargar:
In my original post on Steam, I did state that if RiME was cracked we would remove Denuvo from the game. The same day RiME was cracked, we updated our versions of RiME that did not include Denuvo.

Thanks for the info! Removed from wishlist. Sorry devs, that's the wrong attitude. Either you believe in DRM-free or you do not. Will only buy the game on high discount then to honor you brought the game here after all. Same for RiME of course.

Did Limbo also had strong copy protection before it came to GOG?
I'll buy the game, because it looks fantastic. But not now, because I already spent a lot of money on the summer sale. Bad timing. I would have bought it before the sale here DRM-free, but it wasn't available back then. Not my fault.

While it may not be intentional, this release feels Opportunistic.

Lets put aside the arguments for and against DRM.

Was a GoG release something that was always planned?

Given that Grey Goo never graced this store, I felt it was reasonable to assume nor would RiME. I'm happy its here, but as someone that would like to see competition to Steam's dominance, it feels Opportunistic.

If as a developer/publisher you repeat this course for your next game please could you at least mention the intention to release via GoG so people can make an informed purchasing decision. There are people that would have prefered to buy via GoG but would have got your game from Steam because like 70% of all games it looked like it would only ever be available via Steam.
