Today we welcome two unique and award-winning adventure games from Square Enix in our store. Life is Strange tells a story of Max Caulfield, a photography senior who discovers she can rewind time while saving her best friend Chloe Price. After that, Max and Chloe uncover the dark secrets of Arcadia Bay city and the consequences of meddling with time.

The story of Life Is Strange: Before the Storm is set three years before the events of the first game. We follow sixteen-year-old Chloe Price who forms an unlikely friendship with Rachel Amber, a beautiful and popular girl whose family holds a dark secret. Like in the previous title, every player’s choice will have a tremendous impact on the game’s story.

Both Life is Strange and Life Is Strange: Before the Storm games are now available DRM-free on GOG.COM with an 80% discount until 15th June, 1 PM UTC.
I would love for life is strange 2 to be sold on GOG, I think for the time being I will buy Before the Storm - Deluxe Edition. Thanks GOG

wolfsite: Has a reason been given for not releasing Linux ports on GOG? I've taken a look and only found speculation aside from the generic "No interest at this time" comment

Loger13: They repeatedly and consistently stated something like the fact that GOG and they have "different views". Also in some private e-mail they made statements like (Not literally, but within the meaning) "We believe that our intellectual property needs protection, so GOG is not suitable for us".

and the fact that all of their games in Steam have protection (at least Steam-stub, and often their self-made protection), most likely it’s that they don’t want to release their ports DRM-free.

Simply put, they have a consistent pro-DRM position.
Thanks for the info..... I have read in some areas that people have been getting better performance running the Windows version in WINE rather than using Feral's Linux ports so if that is true not that huge of a loss.
I've never tried or even heard of these game but they look fun from the trailers and all the comments.

Thanks for releasing them to GOG, DONTNOD Entertainment / Square Enix and ofc thank you GOG as always for your efforts. :)

Looking forward to more, keep em coming!

I knew, when (not IF, I was very optimistic especially after Vampyr) Life is Strange made it to GOG I'd buy it again. And I was right, and not paying the full price again made it so much sweeter. Now, if only I could forgot just anything and play it again...

All that's left is Remember Me. You can do it, I believe in you.
At last Life is DRM-freed!

Instabuy.
Having a backlog of about 700 games, I do this rarely, but... instabought. LIS coming to GOG is a real jawdropper to me.
also I wanna say thanks to GOG for bringing these older "AAA" games even though they (basically) have to deeply discount them because they were already discounted on Steam for years. hopefully it's semi-profitable at least!

MarkoH01: I already own those games on Steam but I have to support these games being DRM-free and will buy again. Thank you GOG, great additions.
Same here. Instabought! Thanks GOG.

Square Enix big games DRMFREE??!!

Shocked!
Instabuy!

Now, give me the Tomb Raider Trilogy and Remember me.
Remember Me is published by Capcom, not Square Enix.

wolfsite: I just heard a lot of profanity come from the drawer I keep my wallet in.
And this is only the second wave of recent releases by Square Enix, so our wallets will probably be in a world of hurt for some time, and they can swear all they want but they will just have to suck it up.

shmerl: As usual, Feral messed up the Linux release.

Feral dodged the question on multiple occasions. So I don't really think reasons are good.

One problem could be on the GOG's side though. Despite GOG collecting download stats (through user agent), they don't share that info with publishers and developers as is known. So that presents a problem for someone like Feral, who are supposed to get their cut only from Linux users, and profits from Windows users should go to the main publisher.

I asked GOG to address this, but they just rebuffed the issue.
