Bohemian rhapsody.

UPDATE: Attention, hedge knights! The game has just been updated to v1.4, which brings several fixes and cool bits and bobs like new beard and hair mechanics, an unarmed mercy kill, and the free HD Texture and Audio Pack, which significantly enhances the game's audiovisual fidelity. It's a good day for some not-so-noble errants, isn't it?

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.
Your sword is vengeance. Your sword is destiny. Your sword is all you have left.
The civil war that ravages medieval Bohemia took everything from you and now a life in the service of a local lord seems the only available path. But only momentarily, because this dynamic open world is packed with role-playing opportunities and challenges, opening up into a gut-wrenching narrative involving historical characters of the era.

Get the game together with its OST and digital Art Book for a 10% series discount.

DebbieL: To be fair, the devs have always said this would be a multi-part series. In the original Kickstarter they made it clear that the story they wanted to tell was too large for one game, and would be spread over 3 episodes (now reduced to 2 larger ones). However if it does end on a genuine cliffhanger (I haven't finished it yet), they should probably have been clearer about this in their marketing to non-backers.

takezodunmer2005: Thanks for this bit of info, I was not a backer; so I will wait for the second game to come out; I'll most definitely buy both games then! And yeah, they should have made this more widely known, as cliff-hanger endings (If true) is no way to sell your game to old-school gamers!
I agree. So I do the same, what I am doing with Deus Ex ... I wait, untill the story is complete. I haven't bought the last Deus Ex. And I doubt I ever will.

Same fate for this game. And btw, I never ever buy games with a day one patch. That only means this game is a buggy and usually an unplayable and unfinished mess. I give such games another year or so to get ready. Now I have to wait even for the last part to come out. Meanwhile I pretend this game does not even exist or is in early access, until both games, this and the future one, are released, the final patch is out ... and is on a sale. Because until they are finished, the game will be old.

Yeah, I made the mistake of pe-ordering deus ex HR over at steam, but was fortunate that the game crashed upon starting so I was able to refund it and get dark souls 3+the season pass with the refund money! It would be the last time I would ever pre-order a game! But yeah, I really didn't want to refund this game as the atmosphere is glorious, so it will reside in my wishlist for now...

Neat still playing and enjoying this one quite a bit! Actually gets better as it goes along (and as you get better LOL).

I don't have time to pull the update tonight - any idea what the HD Texture / Audio pack is? Anyone mess around with it? Does the game still run as smoothly as it has since the last update if "HD Textures" are used or is it a huge performance hit?

Off to play for a bit - will hopefully get a chance to install and try out 1.4 tomorrow.
I wait until a year before buying Witcher 3, and end up getting the most comprehensive edition. Will do the same for this game.

Ixamyakxim: So... impressions!

The latest update / patch went a long way toward pushing the game to downright special. I haven't tried it yet, but Save On Exit is huge, and the performance of the game is what it should have been on release. In other words, I installed the latest version and didn't have to do any tweaks, cheats, hacks etc. to get the game to play well. It just runs nicely out of the box. No stuttering, at least so far, and no annoying performance issues.

As for the game - I like it a lot. It doesn't have that steep a learning curve but again I'll reiterate that it feels like Gothic. You suck at first and the game is all too happy to remind you of that. But spend a bit of time doing basic stuff (in my case, picking locks and doing a bit of sword training) and all of a sudden you start to feel pretty competent. The game does a great job of rewarding character progression. Once you get "over the hump" you really start to get it and get into the game. You'll either hate this, love it, or find it incredibly frustrating getting there... but once you do the game really opens up.

I found it a bit funny that the game really seems to hammer this point home by not even running the opening credits until you've spent about 5+ hours in the game LOL. It's like it's taunting you that you haven't even really started yet, and you expected to do THAT???

Also, the swordplay seems awesome. Initially I thought it was cheap. To this point in my current playthrough I really haven't engaged in it too much. But the second tutorial on swordfighting (you don't even get it until a solid several hours into the game! Spoiler: In Rattay) really starts to show you just how far down the rabbit hole swordfighting can go. It's sort of an "ah ha" moment when you learn the deeper mechanics... and it really matters. The first fight or so after Iearning that stuff was so different from my initial clumsy and pointless attacks (damn did I have a terrible time fighting that first Cumen as I was supposed to be running from Sigismund's attack).

Long story short - the game is a bit tough, but gets easier as you put time into it, "grind" basic stats and learn the general rules of swordplay. If you liked Gothic, this is right up your alley. It really "feels" like living in a world (my time thieving, pickpocketing, running and wandering to locations to fence all sort of attest to how you move about the world in an organic fashion and not just chasing quest markers). It's frustrating at first, but once you hit your rhythm it's really a good game.

I went from "F-this, it's glitchy, frustrating and annoying" to "Okay, I get it, and now it runs like it should... Damn this is fun."
Many thanks that whas quirte usefull for me.
Seems i only need to wait for th next 1 o2 major patches until i can start playing without bug/glitch-fear :)

Well i instabought this one and W3 too support games/companies i like. (W3 on Xbox)
For Witcher 3 i waited several month until i played it and i think i should wait around 3 month before i play KCD..but i have to admit...i get so many different Infos&opinions about KCD that i am quite curios...one major patch, maybe two then i will take a look at least...knowing that is stupid :)

Getting curious about the game and watching the trailer now for the first time... Wow, looks tasty, and game graphics certainly have come a long way. And I am still impressed by Mirror's Edge's, Spec Ops, Far Cry 2's and even Portal's graphics today!

Interesting to think this is also considered as an indie game. I admit i still have this image of "indie" meaning lackluster graphics, experimental gameplay and shortness of the game. It is all over the place.

I saw the trailer(s) had moaning women too. I just... wish they'd leave sex out of gaming for the most part. If I am aroused, I don't play games, and vice versa. Gaming is about blood and gore and killing and taunting, not tits and ass and sucking. Or at least make the view pan to the fireplace, if a sex scene comes, for christ sake!

How are the system requirements compared to, say, The Witcher 3? So if I have a system that IMHO runs TW3 passably, could I expect the same from this game? Or is it more, or less, demanding? Or depends?

KCD is more demanding, and it also still needs more optimization. I wll say that will depend on what you mean by "passably" ;)

I am playing with a GTX 980 and i-7 @4770 chip, and had to tweak graphics a bit to be comfortable with the game. You will need to use also the graphics card panel control to change some options in order to "help" the game run better, because the in-game options are not enough. For instance, you will need to force the Vertical Sync* and the Single Screen in Multiple Display Perfomance Mode.

Other than that, it runs well in most of the situations.

Note: game on Steam, not here (i could not get a gog key instead of a steam one...sigh)

*=The game lacks in options, but you can also force some with the console system or manually editing a user.cfg file. Some people are saying that using console or the user.cfg gives better results improving fps than using the graphics card panel control (mostly because some exclusive Nvidia stuff seem to impact negatively on the game's fps so you can also turn off everything in nvidia's panel for the game and then activate what you want from user.cfg)

ncameron: If you have this attitude to a company which has a dev who happens to have an opinion you find offensive, then I have to say, I'm surprised if you own any games at all - I dare say that every dev in existence will likely have some opinion about something which you aren't happy with. It's just that you haven't heard them speak about it.

Oh, and buying a game is supporting the company, or somehow endorsing his opinion? Get serious. It's a business transaction. Nothing more, nothing less.
I disagree here. The difference is, precisely, when a dev talks about his opinion and you strongly dislike it. I mean, if the dev talks just about his game and controls his own personal opinions or ideology, that's one thing and you don't have a reson to not buy his product. But making apology of something is a valid excuse for you to ignore his products. Just as with any other company, being a gaming company (dev or publisher) or not. I see nothing wrong in that, really, and he can still buy a lot other games from people who has say nothing about specific or polemic questions. All of us have the right to have an opinion, and of course also the dev, but i can refuse having anything to do with that dev if i dislike what he says. Also, i don't see how is this all a reason to downvote or attack SirPrimalform (not talking about you, but in general!)

Imagine that some dev makes a fantastic game and then goes to press and talks about something you consider extremely offensive. You choose to ignore his or his products. There is something wrong with that? Nope, at least for me.

Not giving examples, but there's something called ethics that imho should be also in consideration when doing business. Because business is not only a transaction without any other implication, and this goes in either way: being a consumer who doesn't care who is buying from or how, or being a company making profit from something or from someone in some situations. For instance (ok, just 1 example in an extreme situation), making a lot of money in times of war because, why not, let's take profit from the situation, it's just business.

Nope, i strongly disagree here. You can choose as a consumer, and there's no difference between his opinion and when others say that they will agree if the company was one of those that treats their consumers as trash (that is, also, not a matter of fact in most of the situations, but just another subjective opinion, like mine also)

A positive example could be supporting GOG because i feel they defend a DRM-free stance, i feel identified with this positions and i prioritize them before other platforms, with the obvious contradictions in-between: i also use steam when i have no choice (with some limits, not all is valid to me) and this, i admit, can be somewhat hyprocrite to some people.

Did they by chance update the CryEngine to recent version?

What the heck is audiovisual fidelity? Is it something along the lines of better graphics and better audio? Does anyone notice a difference after applying this update?

Wow, very happy about this!
Did they seriously poke at Beth by making a Horse armor (dragon slayer even) DLC?
Game is now £50 with the two dlc and apparently isn't even a complete storyline. Shame, seemed interesting but will go on the back burner until way in the future when a complete version comes out.
It's nice

I just noticed this. Finally preorder DLC done right (meaning that if you want it, you can acquire it later).
