Bohemian rhapsody.

UPDATE: Attention, hedge knights! The game has just been updated to v1.4, which brings several fixes and cool bits and bobs like new beard and hair mechanics, an unarmed mercy kill, and the free HD Texture and Audio Pack, which significantly enhances the game's audiovisual fidelity. It's a good day for some not-so-noble errants, isn't it?

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.
Your sword is vengeance. Your sword is destiny. Your sword is all you have left.
The civil war that ravages medieval Bohemia took everything from you and now a life in the service of a local lord seems the only available path. But only momentarily, because this dynamic open world is packed with role-playing opportunities and challenges, opening up into a gut-wrenching narrative involving historical characters of the era.

Get the game together with its OST and digital Art Book for a 10% series discount.

takezodunmer2005: Hey it's not my rule/excuse it's only speculation :)

They did admit that they would release it here after steam...It's the most logical conclusion that I could come up with...But yeah, we all know that there is nothing on this green earth that could stop the code smiths and master hacksmen of the internet from cracking this or any game! But still, the alternative to steam-denuvo infected games still stands well in my book!

micktiegs_8: Oh I didn't mean it was your excuse. I've heard/seen developers say and still say that having no DRM is the reason their games get pirated or having poor sales. There are great examples of games without DRM that do just fine.
It can't be considered a valid excuse anymore. Kingdom Come: Deliverance was cracked a few hours after the Steam-only release: https://www.oneangrygamer.net/2018/02/kingdom-come-deliverance-drm-cracked/51620/

A DRM-free release has no effect on whether piracy happens or not.

Vainamoinen: There's a tangible reason for developers+publishers hoping to break into AAA sales to only publish on Steam, and that is that landing in the top 10 Steam charts directly increases visibility and therewith sales. Koch Media wasn't sure they would make it there, so they didn't risk it. They explicitly wanted customers to hop from GOG to Steam, that was the plan.
Odd reasoning given that the game was announced on GoG. If they wanted customers to buy from Steam why announce that it's coming to GoG at all? It doesn't make much sense - but then neither does DRM so it doesn't really surprise me.
A giant stab in the knee was when I found out that they withheld the full ending and they're deciding whether or not to include it as a DLC or in the next game...That is such an EA tactic, I am disappointed in them and puts a dark cloud on my purchase, I rarely pay $60 unless I believe in the game!

It was a strange move, I'll say that. But gamers are gamers, and a heap of them still insist on playing a game literally the minute it's released, and if it's released two hours later, they get irate AF. That games in the Steam charts start selling themselves however, that's solid. I've heard from a game developer that Valve even advises some game devs against offering pre-orders just to make it into the charts day one at all costs. But, the info is from 2014, so maybe even not recent enough. Who knows what these guys are doing behind the scenes.

At least it settles the debate about whether it's a AAA game or not :p

I am loving KC:D anyway though; excellent immersion in this game.

I loved the immersion as well, played it in french VO but I'll wait 'til the DLC/Next game for the complete ending, and it goes on sale before I get it again as $60 is too much for a cliffhanger ending!

To be fair, the devs have always said this would be a multi-part series. In the original Kickstarter they made it clear that the story they wanted to tell was too large for one game, and would be spread over 3 episodes (now reduced to 2 larger ones). However if it does end on a genuine cliffhanger (I haven't finished it yet), they should probably have been clearer about this in their marketing to non-backers.

Thanks for this bit of info, I was not a backer; so I will wait for the second game to come out; I'll most definitely buy both games then! And yeah, they should have made this more widely known, as cliff-hanger endings (If true) is no way to sell your game to old-school gamers!

To be painfully honest, the endings in games such as Witcher 1,2 and Mass Effect 1,2 actually felt like endings. This one doesn't in the slightest. I won't be waiting years for another game, if anything I'll be playing with mods if they kick off like they did with Skyrim. They should be perfecting this one, adding bits and bobs to it that flesh it out properly. There's so many areas that a bare or just non-existent, that have the potential to flesh the game out if only a little love were put into them. Sword fighting tournaments were reached in the Kickstarter, but aren't here; horse combat just isn't there (did everyone really not use horses to fight on?); open warfare CAN be done on a better scale; crossbows are absent; polearm skill and training options are in dialogue but actual stats and purchasable weapons aren't.

For them to say 'hey we planned another game to begin with', just seems a little lazy on the development front, as if they can hype the shit out of this game, throw it at customers, in a clearly early state (even the devs weren't happy). I'm tempted to ask 'got milk?', or 'Kickstarter under the guise of finished game?'.

Yep, that's why I'll wait, as I have plenty of games to keep me company! Like the one's I got with my refund (Elex/Hellblade) not to mention my other 600+ gog, games! Hopefully, they'll flesh it out more like HG did with NMS! I am sorry that you got duped with the Kickstarter fiasco!

So... impressions!

The latest update / patch went a long way toward pushing the game to downright special. I haven't tried it yet, but Save On Exit is huge, and the performance of the game is what it should have been on release. In other words, I installed the latest version and didn't have to do any tweaks, cheats, hacks etc. to get the game to play well. It just runs nicely out of the box. No stuttering, at least so far, and no annoying performance issues.

As for the game - I like it a lot. It doesn't have that steep a learning curve but again I'll reiterate that it feels like Gothic. You suck at first and the game is all too happy to remind you of that. But spend a bit of time doing basic stuff (in my case, picking locks and doing a bit of sword training) and all of a sudden you start to feel pretty competent. The game does a great job of rewarding character progression. Once you get "over the hump" you really start to get it and get into the game. You'll either hate this, love it, or find it incredibly frustrating getting there... but once you do the game really opens up.

I found it a bit funny that the game really seems to hammer this point home by not even running the opening credits until you've spent about 5+ hours in the game LOL. It's like it's taunting you that you haven't even really started yet, and you expected to do THAT???

Also, the swordplay seems awesome. Initially I thought it was cheap. To this point in my current playthrough I really haven't engaged in it too much. But the second tutorial on swordfighting (you don't even get it until a solid several hours into the game! Spoiler: In Rattay) really starts to show you just how far down the rabbit hole swordfighting can go. It's sort of an "ah ha" moment when you learn the deeper mechanics... and it really matters. The first fight or so after Iearning that stuff was so different from my initial clumsy and pointless attacks (damn did I have a terrible time fighting that first Cumen as I was supposed to be running from Sigismund's attack).

Long story short - the game is a bit tough, but gets easier as you put time into it, "grind" basic stats and learn the general rules of swordplay. If you liked Gothic, this is right up your alley. It really "feels" like living in a world (my time thieving, pickpocketing, running and wandering to locations to fence all sort of attest to how you move about the world in an organic fashion and not just chasing quest markers). It's frustrating at first, but once you hit your rhythm it's really a good game.

I went from "F-this, it's glitchy, frustrating and annoying" to "Okay, I get it, and now it runs like it should... Damn this is fun."

Will it be possible to buy in the future the Flac version of kingdom come deliverance OST. ?

The company who created that game has sold a collector version with the Cd containing the OST.
Why only mp3 version of it in the GoG store ?

Please negociate to sell the Flac version on the store. That s would a great bonus for collectors.
