The Human Empire strikes back.

Imperium Galactica, an ambitious mix of traditional 4X gameplay with real-time combat, resource gathering, and FMV, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 20% launch discount!

The fourth millennium finds humanity in a precarious position: spread all across the galaxy but also facing severe social unrest, we've become an easy target for imperialistic alien races. Dante Johnson, a young upcoming Lieutenant, is called upon to help push back the threat and strengthen humanity's position.
You are first tasked with securing a small sector, but soon your impressive feats will let you expand your domain and eventually become a Grand Admiral who can single-handedly decide the outcome of intergalactic conflicts. To get there, you must exhibit excellent commanding skills, both in combat and resource management, an aptness in diplomacy, and a good grip on the economic realities of the regions under your command. Good luck, Lieutenant.

Rise in power and gradually establish your formidable Imperium Galactica -- DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 20% discount will last until December 23, 1:59 PM UTC.

Impaler26: It's good to see another old game released on GOG.

But another sci-fi themed RTS? Aren't there already dozens of these in GOG's catalogue?
IG1 is not your typical 4X sandbox. It starts really small scale (you command a patrol cruiser enforcing a blocade around 3 systems, with no control over production nor research), then gets bigger as you play and the story unfolds.

I found it to be a real cool and pretty unique experience :)
Yes! Been waiting on this :-) Thank you.
Great surprise thanks THQNordic and gog. Day got better after the hangover from hell from yesterdays office party.
Wonderful release! The fact that the second title will also come to GOG soon is also great news. Thank you Nordic and GOG.
I just noticed the post of the Nordic dev. I didn't know they had obtained the rights to this series. The fact that IG2 is confirmed is great news, even if it won't be until 2017. I'll be watching for it!

Of course, if Nordic were to actually pick up the IP and make a PROPER IG3 (as opposed to that shoddy mobile cash in i saw on Youtube, or that capital ship simulator that abused the engine of Galaxy Andromeda, what would have been the spiritual successor), that would be sheer awesomeness. I might even pay full retail for that!

GOG you are the best!

By the way where is my Reunion (1994/1995) from Amnesty Design?
OMG this is amazing! I used to play this so often with my dad when I was little.

I wonder if we'll ever get Reunion here as well!

mystral: Nice release, but the one I really want is the sequel, which is one of my favourite space 4X. Any chance we could see IG 2 here anytime soon?

ThomNG: Soon - yes, this year? - No :) Hope you enjoy the first part as well!
Bought and certainly buying Imperium Galactica 2 when released, will finally replace my CD copy. Saving space a few mm at a time :)

tburger: Change of plans...sorry Seven Kingdoms :-P

muttly13: Nonsense! Why not have both... Check you PM, Merry Christmas (or whatever it might be for you).
Redeemed...Thank you and Merry Christmas for you as well! :-)

r-ichi-e: Let''s not forget about Reunion, the spiritual first part of this trilogy

huan: Hmm, Reunion... Now THAT is a game that rings a bell. Now I know why I had the feeling that those colony management screenshots remind me of something.
I loved Reunion.. would kill to see that on here! Hard as hell!

The difficulty was mostly OK, except for the third invasion. You had to micromanage your resources like hell to survive that one, after that the alien attacks stop scaling as much. Also I'm not sure if I ever found out how to build aircrafts, without those the ground figts are major pain until you get launchers.

I wouldn't kill to get it here, being in prison is bad for your gaming time :) But it would certainly be insta-buy.
Hopefully this is a sign we will be getting IG2 in the near future.

It isn't. This, however, is. =)
