Let's turn the page.

Visual Novels have arrived on GOG.com! Our first selection includes acclaimed games, revered for their intricate artwork and stimulating stories, up to 66% off until May 29, 1pm UTC.

Higurashi When They Cry Chapters 1-5 (25% off): Spawning a popular anime and manga series, Higurashi is a "sound novel", where meticulously designed audio plays a crucial part in these unique stories. Chapters 1-5 are available today, with Chapter 6 slated for release in the near future.

fault (50% off): Sometimes it takes a healthy dose of pulp sci-fi and a dash of fantasy to weave a powerful cinematic story about the human condition. These two episodes of the ongoing series star the perky princess Selphine and her sarcastic guardian Ritona, as they desperately try to make their way back to their homeland.

Sunrider series (66% off): An alternate universe, intergalactic strife, mech combat, high school, and love all around. Sunrider: Mask of Arcadius (free!), Liberation Day, and Sunrider Academy are a beloved and unique mix of strategy, romance, and visual novel. De-censor patch optional, but come on.

eden* (66% off): Stock up on tissues. This critically-acclaimed love story on a dying planet is a real tear-jerker told with stunning cinematic flair. Humanity is about to be wiped out by a red star but this story is destined to stick around for much longer.
Stuff like this is how VHS won over Betamax.

Sell the people what they want.
I only played one VN. I'm going to take advantage of the fact that one of the ones that are available right now is free :)
As someone who literally lives next door to a school, I'm happy for y'all who have certain constraints on your choice of residence, but GOG, can we have a "not interested" catalog flag?

MarkoH01: Oh not many at all. I started Hatoful Boyfriend and I played through one game I got for free on Steam (something about an Assassin on a Highschool - Azumi or so). I guess I also took a quick glance at one of those Sakura games which were pretty boring for me. So yes, I am aware that I don't know anything about this genre but I also do know that I enjoy this VN. Maybe because I am a Sci-Fi fan ... and don't mind cute anime girls in it :)

JinKazaragi: No suprise you got the bad first impression in that case....
VN like that (maybe aside from Hatoful Boyfriend, I havent played it yet) are one of the main reasons for the Genres bad reputation.
Maybe you woud like a typical vn with sci fi theme in it but with a good story? But if one dont like to read books then i woud probably not recomend playing one. The only VN i have played so far are tsukihime and clannad and i liked those.

Sounds good to me. Maybe I will check out others then as well.

LordEbu: Quite unexpected decision considering gog's past disapproving attitude.

victorchopin: I'll leave this for ya to ponder on a bit ;P
Humanity evolved for better :P
Wow, this is the fastest boom i've ever seen on a gog thread. I've never seen a thread here more active than this one. Maybe i'll take these a bit more seriously, then.

Disgaea Infinite is a really nice one. But it's a PSP game, and knowing NISA...

the ones listed here now are definitely better than the VNs you played so far, the best ones aren't avaiable here yet though so you still have much to look forward to if GOG manages to get more VNs.

Since you seem to be a Sci fi fan Steins;Gate might be something for you, it's avaiable DRM free on JAST's store and one of the best VNs I played so far. (You'll need a flowchart though if you want to reach the true end without too many retries, the choices are less intuative than in most other VNs).

Started to like VN's more and more lately so this is great!
That all the added games are ones I haven't played yet is an added bonus.
Looking forward to buying them all, eventually.

// Woops I bought them all, will be allot of noodles the coming month.

Thank you GoG for the releases ! I will surely be buying most of them in the future ! Here's hoping to many many more VNs on GoG !

Also, to all the people that say mean things about the genre and people who like the games in it, let me say this. You are sooo close minded that i'm impressed how oxygen reaches your brain. Yes many VNs do have sex scenes but most of them are complimentary to the story ! VNs for me and many other fans have the best stories compared to every other media ! Try Steins;Gate, Danganronpa, Zero Escape trilogy, Ever 17, Never 7, Katawa Shoujo (romance-contains sex scenes but it's also free), G Senjou no Maou(also contains sex scenes), Clannad just to name a few and then come back and try to say the same things as before ! I am most certain you won't be able to ! And even if you do, then sure, this genre is not for you and that is perfectly ok but let the rest of us have fun !

To most of the commenters in here, thank you for being civilized even if you do not care for the genre ! We should not judge one another for the games we like, we should be happy of the variety of genres in this industry we love and if something is not for us then we can move on to something else ! :)

I'd love to see Ever17 here.

Also the Narcissu titles, even if they are freebies already available elsewhere.
Ok, done taking it seriously, now. Looks like huniepop without the match 3. Hey, at least there's strategy in the game. Make sure you focus on keeping your strategy game on point here.

But, eh, at least more things are coming to gog.
