Pupcakes: You mean art is subjective?
Nononono... That's an extremely common misconception that I disagree with. There is an objective side to art. Taste exists, but there's also "good taste" and "bad taste"; "unrefined taste" is a thing. Objective value of a work can be judged, though not necessarily easily. If anyone doubts this, I can show them amateurish scribbles that the world will "miraculously" agree are BAD in quality. It's just in the upper echelons that the issue arises, mostly because separate groups of things can get lumped up as one. Is an RTS better than a dancing game? Gosh darn it, this cannot be decided... EVERYTHING IS SUBJECTIVE!
It really isn't, though. We can compare RTSes with other RTSes, particular games can scratch particular itches to different extents, and reviews aren't simply describing the emotions of players, but can provide accurate information on properties of the art object and its aesthetic values.
The above are mostly my intuitions, backed by some basic education in the subject matter. I can't really demonstrate the veracity of this to a reasonable extent, much less prove my stance to be right. I refuse, however, to simply give in to the temptation of going with the postmodern flow and gladly embracing the idea that there is no Truth, Beauty, or Good, there are only subjective tastes, since there's 2x2=4, ET, and genocide.
Breja: I'm sorry, I don't understand you post at all. I don't think you understood mine either.
You chose to supplement your aesthetical judgements with strongly evocative expressions. Unfortunately, they partially fell within the bounds of one of my pet peeves. I understand that demeaning sarcasm and lackadaisical nihilism are all the rage these days, but I oppose nonsense.
More to the point: if you stand by your implicit claim of "all ambitious people have penises that are short", I am willing to demonstrate counter-examples. If you do not, then kindly fuck off with the tiresome "dick measuring contest" metaphor, because it suggests that ambition is bad. The fallback claim is "people who are putting in effort and like challenging themselves are defective, since normal people don't feel the need to prove anything to anyone INCLUDING TO THEMSELVES".
Yes, I'm probably putting more thought into what you are saying than you are, but I dislike messy thoughts, messy rooms, and messy code. Clean your shit up. Thank you.
