Sailing the Uncharted Seas

Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas, a delightfully colorful action RPG, is available now for Windows - DRM-free on GOG.com with a 20% launch discount.

Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas started out as a mobile game, but don't quit reading here. It was one of those titles that somehow made it to mobile devices first, despite the fact that its scope and graphics seemed to be more fitting for a bigger, more standard gaming device. Oceanhorn quickly became one of the highest rated, and most critically acclaimed mobile games recently released - the biggest criticisms seemed to lie somewhere along the lines of "It would be better on PC" and "It's a bit too similar to The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and A Link to the Past". How's that for a humblebrag?

Sail off on a charming, beautiful action adventure in Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas - available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 20% launch discount will last for one week, until Tuesday, March 24, at 12:59 PM GMT.
Wishlisted!

Zoidberg: I'm still wary of mobile ports. Also isn't this much more expensive than the mobile version?
From what I've been told, it's much more expansive than the mobile version, but someone with first hand knowledge is a more reliable source than I am. =P
What happened to Link?
has the obvious Zelda vibe. windu waku is my favorite one and this seems a bit like it. I don't really care where the inspiration comes from as long as it's fun. I'm going to think on this one...I might buy it today. hm...
Looks like a nice game, wishlisted for the time being.
Looks nice, also it seems a good game for kids ^_^

Russonc: looks like an old Sega Dreamcast RPG... might add this to my wishlist for now
Do you mean Skies of Arcadia? That game was great :)

Curious, from a visual standpoint it looks like someone tossed The WInd Waker and Minecraft into a blender.

I'd prefer more organic layouts, I'm not too keen on the blocky grid like construction... I'm definitely interested, but definitely waiting for some reviews.

I was going to say it but it looks like others said it first, and it's uncanny how much this game reminds me of Zelda: Wind Waker :)

That's not a bad thing though, as the PC could use more fun games like that, and Nintendo won't let any of their IP's out of Nintendo platforms, even from their cold dead fingers :D

EDIT:

I might be eating my words, though details are not given and it will be a while before we actually know what extent this will effect Nintendo games on PC's, let alone mobile devices. It's more about their own unique platform in any case though:

Lol, this is heavily inspired on Zelda Wind Waker, the boat, the islands, the hearts, the menu buttons on the screen (you can argue it's for the touch controls on mobile), the sword+shield and bow, the combat, the puzzles, the treasure boxes, destroying bushes to get coins, grabbing and throwing jars, etc.
Not that it is a bad thing, i loved that game and i wish there was more games like that (especially outside the nintendo ecosystem), i'm definitely interested in this game but again, my backlog is already haunting me....
Seems great, anyone who played it that knows whether it has gamepad controls/if the controls are any good?
Wow this looks great! Wishlisted!

A bit depressing question but considering the state of the industry and Nintendo in particular: How did they not get a lawsuit over this?
Wind Faker
I have bought the game from itunes store and it was a joy to play. I have wishlisted it for now ad will buy once my new 4K monitor arrives.
As far as mobile ports go, this one is very enticing. I quite liked the little I've played on an iPad demo unit. The art style reminds me of the DS Zelda games like Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks and the as said Wind Waker island environment. That said, that's hardly a coincidence. Seeing how there are hardly any Zelda-likes on PC this should make for a nice addition.

I'm game! ;)

The original iOS games is $9 so not that much more. Not every mobile game goes for a buck, you know.

According to its game page on the other DD platform, it has full controller support. I haven't played the game though so don't know if they are good for PC since its a mobile port of a touch based game.
