Sailing the Uncharted Seas

Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas, a delightfully colorful action RPG, is available now for Windows - DRM-free on GOG.com with a 20% launch discount.

Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas started out as a mobile game, but don't quit reading here. It was one of those titles that somehow made it to mobile devices first, despite the fact that its scope and graphics seemed to be more fitting for a bigger, more standard gaming device. Oceanhorn quickly became one of the highest rated, and most critically acclaimed mobile games recently released - the biggest criticisms seemed to lie somewhere along the lines of "It would be better on PC" and "It's a bit too similar to The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and A Link to the Past". How's that for a humblebrag?

Sail off on a charming, beautiful action adventure in Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas - available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 20% launch discount will last for one week, until Tuesday, March 24, at 12:59 PM GMT.
Looks nice. Wishlisted!
been watching the twitch play from piranjade and this game looks pretty fun, in an old school kind of way. The toony graphics kind of turned me off at first but the puzzle solving gameplay and path finding lured me in. I'll pop it on the wishlist for now.

I'll be more interested when they have a Mac and/or Linux port. Thanks Gog!
I read one of the few criticisms directed at this game was that the main character glitches through objects, but I didn't expect it to be THIS bad, lol. I only played for half a minute and even in the starting area, the character already passes through table and rocks as if they weren't there at all. O_o

I'm about a third done and have yet to experience what you are describing :-O. Up till now there were very minor glitches in my game.

Weird. Then maybe it's only in the starting area, and you missed it because you ran along instead of sticking around, trying to test it? Did you play with a gamepad, too?

Strange. I played the game with mouse/keyboard and also with gamepad and didn't encounter any of those problems (as you might have seen in my video).
I wonder if it has to do with certain hardware specs?

It works both at my desktop and my laptop, although now that I tried to reproduce what I saw yesterday, it wasn't quite as bad. I couldn't pass through the objects, but squeeze myself past them at their edge, and they would overlay the character's body. I would post a picture with the boy's head sticking out of the table or the rock but the screenshot button on the keyboard doesn't seem to work within the game. If you want to reproduce the issue, try squeezing past the table next to the tent in the starting area, to get to the area behind it.

Xbox360 pad. Works like a charm.

I am a huge Zelda fan ever since the very first games, absolutely love the series, and am more the explorer type than speeding from one quest or areal to the next. So I tend to explore much in These games and did so within Oceanhorn. I'll revisit Hermit Isle tonight and see whether I'll encounter your problems there. Maybe glitches are more prominent in the starting area than later.

mmm, I've already been playing the game for 3 hours (and I love it): while there are the usual collision pseudo-issues that most games have (arms going through walls, etc.), I haven't seen some serious issues yet.

Plus, keep in mind the game was developed for mobile devices (cool, it even works on my low-end laptop) and as such, collision boxes have to be simplified in order to diminish calculations times.

Makes me remember that I've only a 44% completion for this island, I only see one tiny area where there is a bloodstone but I doubt it consists of the "hidden" 56% completion I still have to do. I think, I'll have to search some walkthroughs to explore everything before ending the game :)

Started the game from scratch on a fairly low-specs system (@work *cuff, cuff*) and... HOLY GLITCHING THROUGH ABSOLUTELY EVERY OBJECT THERE IS, BATMAN!

At least on the starting island, I'm experiencing heavy glitches here while on my home System ingame objects I bump into react a little according to physics but won't let me outright pass through the whole length of them.

Me too. :)
Oceanhorn just received a new installer (setup_oceanhorn_2.1.0.2.exe), maybe that fixes those problems.

Thanks for the heads-up, sounds good! I wonder though if the fact that it's a new installer and not a patch means that I'd have to scrap my savegames and start from scratch? 'Cause in the meantime I've already played for two hours or so (not the wisest move, should have waited for the fix). :/
