Return to the Arcade.

The wait is finally over: 15 -count 'em- 15 essential SNK NEO・GEO classics that no gamer should be without, are finally available DRM-free on GOG.com!

These are the games that devoured our entire allowance when we were skipping school to beat them at the Arcade. For convenience's sake, we've broken them down into three bundles:

METAL SLUG Bundle: Easily the most insatiable coin-eaters of the bunch, METAL SLUG 1, 2, 3, and X are still just as fun as you remember them from these blessed times. They all come sporting GOG Galaxy support complete with leaderboards, and -with the exception of METAL SLUG 2- both local and online multiplayer functionalities.

Fighting Classics Bundle: These games' legacy is made up of fierce combos, brutal takedowns, and lots of broken controllers: FATAL FURY SPECIAL, SAMURAI SHODOWN 2, SAMURAI SHODOWN V, THE LAST BLADE, THE KING OF FIGHTERS 2000, and THE KING OF FIGHTERS 2002 CLASSIC. Are you up for a rematch? We thought so!

Arcade Games Bundle: The collection would not be complete without these lesser known but equally addictive hidden gems: BLAZING STAR, BASEBALL STARS 2, KING OF THE MONSTERS, SHOCK TROOPERS, and TWINKLE STAR SPRITES.

Get each game individually for -50% or together with its bundle for 75%.
These discounts will last until June 6, 1PM UTC.

NOTE: Make sure to check each game's individual store page for details on their GOG Galaxy supported features.

I own the whole neo geo set on humble but are the games here the same as the dotemu or better emulated ones??
there has to be someone who can say if metal slug 1 and 2 lag like shit??? cause I will buy these no questions asked if they are not like the dotemu versions.

omega64: Question to GOG:
Are these the terrible terrible Metal Slug ports by DotEmu?
Haven't tried it yet, but KOF 2002 at least is by DotEmu so... yeah, most likely.

the original cartridge I own of metal slug 1 and 2 lag like hell just like the dotemu ones on humble bundle. my guess is they emulated the exact same frame for frame from the original cartridge from the arcade unit.

I hate it personally but lets hope these roms or something have constant frames going on
Hem . I was hoping for the Alice games .
My, those are... things. Those are definately things. Yeah. So there.

I have no idea what I'm looking at.

Foxhack: Interesting. DotEmu just said they had no involvement in this.

So where did these ports come from?

I'm PERSONALLY thinking these are their ports, but repackaged by SNK somehow.
I can confirm they are DotEmu ports . In KOF files there is DotEmu logo :)

EDIT : Also rom files seems there as unencrypted . So you could play them with your favorite emulator :)

BTW I checked again and those Mac and Linux unsupported games have Galaxy features . So you know , Galaxy is Windows only . And that explains everything . That's the reason why they are added as extras .

This is one of the largest single purchases I've ever done, being 15 games (not price, just by the quantity alone).

Thanks for all of these GOG! I missed these back in the day!

Hope you can score many other fighting games as well (and just Japanese made games) :)

Can't wait to see what you have in store for the next few months!

They probably fell off the back of a truck.
So are those ports by DotEmu that bad? And if so, are they all like that?
It's.. something.
I suppose one could buy them and then use a better emulator to actually run them.
I CAME

I totally recommend grabbing at least The Last Blade! Such a wonderful fighting game with awesome music that was never seen in other NeoGeo games!
As long as the roms can be extracted and played in an emulator, it's fine.
Do you get a legal ROM file that you can play in your MAME of choice?
Are these the same DRM-free version as the Humble ones? (Dotemu roms plopped into an emu?) Or are they like the more fleshed out versions that made it to Steam later?
