The fairytale journey just got a new dimension!

Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power, Frozenbyte’s first venture into 3D gameplay in the Trine series due to release in Autumn 2015, is ready to pre-order on GOG.com - experience the current version of the game before it releases for Windows with an up to 25% pre-order discount.

Before we go on, we have some good news for those who have yet to experience this series: Trine Enchanted Edition and Trine 2: Complete Story have been priced down at 75% off until Wednesday, July 1st at 1:59 PM GMT to celebrate the coming of part three!

Starting from the first game, the Trine series has been well known for being a great physics platformer with gorgeous, colorful graphics, and a fairytale atmosphere. The series’ third instalment comes back with all those qualities and tosses in a new dimension - but that isn’t the only thing Frozenbyte introduces in Trine 3, as there are also brand-new single-player focused adventures called Lost Pages, aimed to be the ultimate test of skill, requiring platforming technique and puzzle-solving cleverness.

This title comes bundled with GOG Galaxy support, including achievements. And for those of you who just cannot wait until release - an early, in-development version of the game is available as a bonus goodie today: just about half of Trine 3 (three Chapters and three Lost Pages) is already playable in single-player and co-op during the pre-order period. The in-development version of the game is available as a bonus goodie, so our standard pre-order refund policy still applies - you can always cancel the preorder and get a full refund even if you already played the in-development build. The game isn't finished, so we won't be able to offer technical support during pre-orders - but you can always get in touch with official Frozenbyte support directly.

Also, the game’s Original Soundtrack will be yours once the title launches in Autumn!

You can pre-order the game at 15% off until it launches later this year. However, if you already have the first two parts of the game, you can get this one at 25% off, with that extra 10% loyalty discount.

Pre-order the new Frozenbyte puzzle platformer Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power DRM-free at GOG.com, get up to 25% off (and 75% off the previous two Trine games), the OST, multiplayer, and GOG Galaxy integration, and enjoy the 3D of the third game in the fantasy series.

See Twitch.tv/GOGcom - MegapiemanPHD will be presenting its beta build on Wednesday, June 24th at 4pm GMT (6pm CET / 12pm EDT / 9am PDT).

JoelFB: I think we went over the first pricing details over the phone, I'm not sure if I was involved so can't really say either way, and I can't really give you a direct quote. We generally want to price our games the same across all platforms, if that's a reasonable possibility, and since Steam is very much pro-regional pricing, it is our desire to have regional pricing on GOG as well. I don't have any numbers here but I could bet that regional pricing increases developers' revenue in countries like Russia, so it makes a lot of sense to do it...

The general feel I've gotten from GOG and their people and communication, is that they are pretty honest about everything, and do care about their community/users. They want to keep their players happy (obviously) and it is evident from the way they talk and discuss various options with developers. We had a lot of discussions about the pre-order discount % (pre-order, loyalty, etc) for example, and both us and GOG wanted to make everyone as happy as possible. I think the percentages work out pretty well (we also have to consider our Steam audience etc, and GOG understands that while they try to protect and champion for their users - there's a lot of moving parts involved). Sometimes there's a lot of compromises because these things can get pretty hairy.
I really appreciate the detailed response so thanks a lot for that Joel, I understand its a complicated issue since the pricing has to be consistent with the release on other platforms as well. But, I do hope you reconsider GOG's preferred flat pricing for all regions (excluding the Russia/CIS territories) when the game is eventually released or at a later point in time.

We know GOG cares about their customers so its good to know that they had prolonged discussions regarding the preorder and early access to the game which is something new here. I appreciate the way it has been implemented since it is relatively risk free for consumers that want to try the early development version of the game by preordering since there is always the option to refund if it doesn't meet expectations. Not to mention the discount is also quite good and a nice offer eventhough I am generally not really in favor of preorders. :)

Dear GOG, if you decided to allow not-yet-finished games to store, then how about Underrail?

BTW, any mention of Linux version? Frozenbyte naturally was pretty linux friendly before...
This doesn't seem to be quite the same thing as Steam Early Access - but I worry that it could become a bridge to that.

gibbeynator: Is this regionally priced? It's showing 22 dollars USD for me.
I'm pretty sure GOG considers Canada part of the 'USD region'. Do you see regional pricing on other games and just not this one?

SirPrimalform: Hey there, thanks for coming to talk to us. I only speak for myself obviously, but here's my take on the whole regional pricing thing. GOG originally held "no regional pricing" as a principle alongside the DRM-free thing and it's not really been that long since they dropped it, which was a fairly unpopular move.

You'll find that a decent number of people here object to regional pricing on principle, so people are questioning why this is regionally priced when the previous two games are flat priced and you are clearly ok with flat pricing.
For the record, I am strongly against 'lazy' regional pricing that prices games in different currencies without any fluctuations. The infamous equation steam has been using for years $=€ is very insulting for consumers in my opinion.
However, GOG has been updating its prices on several occasions, and there is the "fair price package" so I am quite fine with this form of compromise.

JoelFB: Oh wow, a lot of things to go over! I think I/we understand it a little better now. Let's start...
Hey Joel, big fan of Trine here. Thanks for bringing this to GOG like this, I believe it's a nice way to reward pre-orders, plus I had a great time with the previous games, and number 3 looks as awesome as them.

Also, thanks for releasing the games with Brazilian Portuguese since the first one.

And +1 to have Trine 1 & 2 here on GOG with complete galaxy support (achievements and such). Also, as someone mentioned before me, Trine 2 could have a more complete version, with all the goodies that are available elsewhere.
yikes. another pre-order. what is this? steam?

Just this one, but it's listed as 22 CAD on Steam, which is 10% and the usual USD-to-CAD price increase there.
