Tarhiel: I too think people are unreasonably negative.
EE are good remasters, and Beamdog has learned from their mistakes of releasing buggy BG games, patching them later - Icewind Dale EE was stable, relatively bug-free right on the release.

It seems people are still spewing hate because of BG.
I haven´t yet seen argument, which would explain me why are EE editions so inherently bad.

Only one I got is when people say that they finished the original games not so long ago and since EE do not add significant new content (ironically, other pole will argue they do not like EE because they add new content), they do not wish to purchase them.

Lebesgue: Then you clearly haven't really looked around. If you actually read the threads in BG forum then you will understand.

But one important reason is that they took down the classic editions from gog. And it seems the same will happen here too.
Again, I want to hear reasons, not patronising banter.

You saying it as if classic editions would be out of sale, instead they now will be bundled with EE.
And from what I read, this step is actually endorsed, if not initialized by D&D (Wizards of the Coast ) themselves, so quite possibly you can thank them for that.

Wonderful news. Just pre-ordered and can't wait for the release.
Haven't had the time to play the original, and in any case considering the history of those "enhanced" versions, I will gladly wait for more information.

Not gonna buy it just because I have 30% off if I buy it before reviews, GOG. Not gonna work with me.

Harzzach: But bugs were fixed, all good now.
not really true... the bgee (from Beamdog) games work but the bgee (from gog) are still bugged to the point of being unplayable as a sharman or cleric moving into bg2ee.

the transgender issue is 'much ado about nothing'

How so? My first playthough on BGEE was with a ranger/cleric and I was able to import him to BG2EE just fine

I assume you didn't play Dragonspear then

Any plans for a soundtrack release?

Yes! We'll have an official soundtrack available on Beamdog and Steam.
No soundtrack on gog? So will it be the version with less extras?
I am interested in the GOG version, but I read achievements will not be present.

Is it true, they are only Steam exclusive?

richlind33: As far as I'm concerned, as soon as the option to buy the original by itself is eliminated, it will thenceforth be in the public domain.
It continues to be available, repacked together with the new version...

DieRuhe: [...] I've got the original, I don't need another copy (that I'm assuming I can't give away) [...]

HunchBluntley: I'm pretty sure how it works with the other EEs is that the old version bundled with the EE is just a redemption code in your library, and you can give it away to anyone you wish. I assume this will work the same.
Oh! Cool. Thanks for pointing that out! I missed that.

F*ck, yeah!! Finally...!

Long awaited for, since the enhanced editions for BG and ID started...

Never have preordered before, maybe never again, but this is as close as a no brainer as you can get.

Nice release! But do i want to buy this game because original game is still unfinished. I have not had time to play RPG games recently.

I am disappointed changes, what Beamdog did for Baldur´s gate EE. I hope Beamdog not screw up with this game. But If Chris Avellone is assisting the making of the game , what possible could go wrong!

Let´s see, what happens, when game is released. I hope not game breaking bugs.
Well, this could work. Torment was the most complicated infinity engine game to make look good in modern machines. The enhanced editions of the other games were really good after the first patches and before the useless 2.X versions. The boatload of bad features on these patch really put me off (nothing to do with the ridiculous community backlash to SoD). I will probably buy this, but never as pre-order. Breamdog became notorious to release half-broken products, so let's wait a bit to see how this Will be.

I hate the bundling. Worst thing to come out of this EE business IMO.

Harzzach: You have to differ between reasonable critique and stupid, politically motivated hate. Beamdogs Enhanced versions suffered from some nasty bugs, their release quality wasnt that good. But bugs were fixed, all good now.

Those Gamergate freaks however ... they freak out over ONE EFFIN line of dialogue and behave like its the apocalypse and the Second Coming of Jeebbus. Fragile little children, you really have to pity them ...
Sure, but the line between the two has been really blurred with people reacting to these enhance versions. I basically got started with BG2 when it was released and never played BG1 before I bought it recently as the enhanced version here.

What I found most striking about BG when reflecting about the outrage the gender issue caused was that there are simply so many dialogues where your response is simply "Ok, thanks for telling me" while many complains where seemingly directed at not having an option to react harshly to the gender issue.

I simply found it nearly impossible to role play in any way in BG (compared to for example Fallout or Arcanum). Overall my impression was that there is commonly one best way to do things with some occasional minor path and character choice.

I also like some of the implemented features that make playing just more convenient, like zooming with the mouse wheel. I also had very little problems with BG:EE so far, but I also came really late to the party, and presumably missed the worst part of the bugfest.

However, what I find also very noteworthy is that I feel like I can usually tell when content was added by beamdog, may it be dialogue, characters (who usually can be told apart by the different portrait style anyway), or environments. That's not really a plus.

I was hoping for a PT enhance version, since I somehow always had problems with the highres patches for PT. However, I might wait a bit and see what the initial release quality will be like.
