Matruchus: What about the Enteprise series. I liked that one although somehow it did not get that good reception.
I have to admit that it is an okay-ish show - at least it's better than Voyager ;) It took some time to accept this though...
The only thing i did NOT like about the TV series 'Enterprise' WAS the ... awful... opening music. watched the first season on Netflix...
Very nice! Actually a first film here that I am properly interested in.

Well people said the last 2 seasons were when things started to get good.

Sort of like how Seinfeld got better in its 4th season.
Now this... this is something I would buy for sure, I think this will be my first GOG movie purchase, outside of you know the free ones.

Not sure why the star treek series was so interesting.
maybe because the thougth of exploring new frontiers got my imagination in gear.
Though i didnt like the first seasons that much, just too old for my taste.
But i liked TNG and Voyager alot.
Havent watched Ds9 so cant say anything about that.

Well DS9 got a lot into spiritual stuff with the prophets, Vedeks, visions and other stuff but it also shoved a lot of corrupted side of people with Quark the ferengi ultimately transforming him in to a good guy and so on. Too much stuff to talk about there :)

I once heard the theory (somewhere online) that Star Trek was/is so popular because it's one of the few series where technology is presented as something positive for humankind, who has evolved in a rather positive manner...
It's kind of true, I guess, since it seems that nowadays visions of the future always seem to be somewhat apocalyptic.

As for the movie - might go for it, but I'm still undecided. I used to watch TNG and Voyager, never got much into DS9 though...

And it showed another, darker side of the Federation. In other Star Trek series, the Prime Directive is violated sometimes to do good things. In DS9 it gets violated often, because people just don't give a shit what the Federation's favorite PR booklet says.

Now if only we could get the Star Trek games here :)

Neat looking film!

*gets in the mood for some Earl Grey*

I'd take Armada, Elite Force, and even Klingon Honor Guard, among others...

There's actually quite a few! :O

Matruchus: This is actually a very interesting release. I love Star Trek. Hope they got Patrick Stewart in it.

JudasIscariot: I saw Patrick Stewart in the trailer but I have not had the chance to watch the movie just yet :)
I saw it once on Discovery Science, it's a great docu for Trek fans.

Stewart is only in it during inserts from the episodes, but Frakes was interviewed from the TNG's crew, just like Wheaton for example. The movie is focusing more like GR's life, and on Trek as a phenomenon and as a TV show (production, airing) and less on the lore / canon itself. It has lots of footages from interviews with GR, and archive and/or present interviews with the crewmembers and the writers, fans, etc.

ed: apologies, a buddy with a better memory corrected me, Stewart also talks in the movie about the times when TNG started and he got the part.
