Trek Nation is a personal documentary retrospective into the huge, worldwide impact of Star Trek. Available now, DRM-free, on GOG.com!

Eugene Roddenberry's father is the man behind Star Trek - Gene Roddenberry. Twenty years after his father’s death, Eugene sets out to document the impact of one of the most influential franchises of all time. In a series of interviews, Eugene Roddenberry talks with not just the people who worked on Star Trek throughout the years, but with those who drew joy and inspiration from his father’s legacy. Trek Nation features interviews with George Lucas, Wil Wheaton, Stan Lee, and many other pop culture icons.

Matruchus: I wish that somebody would make a new Star Trek series but not in the new mirror universe used in the cinema now. It should be the old which much more interesting and not just about brawn.
I don't mind the mindless action but yes it is veering away from some of those original ideals of Gene Roddenberry and into all action territory. I guess the latest generation of movie goers don't have the patience for something more nuanced .

Matruchus: Anybody watched Gene Roddenbery's Andromeda with Kevin Sorbo?
Never saw that one, had seen it in store or online on DVD but couldn't bring myself to chance buying it all in case it was just awful. These days I'm steering towards Blu-ray which is a filter to stop me buying everything (not a hugely effective filter, but better than my lack of fee will during specials).

Oh god, I don't even remember that, perhaps my mind couldn't take it and blocked it out. That is awful.

On second thought, I'm feeling quite well, Dr. Crusher.

deonast: Hmm I'll take a look for that Mod as I do have freespace 2 from GOG. Thanks for that.
You're quite welcome - if you do play it I would be curious as to how it is. I always have trouble with space flight sims (for some reason, issues with depth perception in space games), but it is on my try-to-play list (that I will probably never get to).

Interestingly enough I do, and I guess I am more forgiving than most since I understood what they were going for there -- I just forgot the details. ;-) Still, enjoyed the rest of the show and since it is only a pilot I try to make allowances for things that can be improved (case in point: the original presentation of Delenn in "The Gathering" versus the rest of the B5 series).

I'm not so crash hot in Space Sims either, I must have a lousy sense of direction or spacial awareness (or both) I seem to get lost easy. That said I had better improve quickly as I have backed Star Citizen for some pretty large and pricey ships so I don't want that to be a total loss.
