I will go to my grave crying about the suck that is Xenoblade Chronicles X. I loved the first game so much and wanted such a pure experience with the sequel that I shut myself off from all media coverage, pre-ordered the game and went into the experience totally blind.

I can't put into words the ensuing disappointment over my ~40 hours of gameplay.
Zelda II. Probably amplified by the fact that young little me bought it because I couldn't find the first game for sale. I still had some fun with it, but the levels of disappointment were off the charts the first time I started playing.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II...REALLY underwhelming compared to the first game :I
Diablo II was boring as hell.

Also, Panzer Elite Action was quite dull, they sitched the series from simulation to pure arcade, which ruined the gameplay.

HERESY
Well sorry, but I only went up to the third of the game before giving up.
While I I really liked Diablo I, the II was a real disappointment and I really don't understand all the hype around this game.

You're stupid, get out.

Just joking, but this is really weird, I know only one person beside you who really likes Diablo 1, and finds 2 boring. Why do you find it disappointing?
Diablo II throws tons of monsters at you, most of them you kill in a single click. So you spend 99% of the time in the game dispatching not very dangerous enemies. The remaining 1% sends you more dangerous enemies that require more carefulness, and then, the game become a little more interesting, but it doesn't last long.

Where Diablo I had a moderate quantity of intersting difficulty enemies resulting in a fun gameplay, Diablo II spams you with tons of mobs resulting in a boring clickfest.

Besides, the game is much longer which should be a quality, but since it was so boring for me, it became a flaw.
Maybe I'll resume my game someday, but it's really not on my priority list...

EDIT : on top of that, whenever you relaunch the game, enemies respawn on all areas you already cleared, resulting in always more clicking.
Actually, this game is a clicker game... Much like cookie clicker, clicker heroes and the like... (Yes I'm trolling, but not much...)

Dragon Age 2, Ultima 8 and 9, Might and Magic 9.
Lords of the realm 3 if it hasnt been mentioned yet...
Might and Magic 8. The plot just made no sense. It was like there was in-house disagreement about what was supposed to happen.

I can totally buy you not liking D2. While I loved it, I understand not everyone does. What doesnt jive is saying you really liked D1... Its essentially the same game, just more of the same in a bigger, brighter package. Its more understandable reading your comments on only playing a third of the game. I assume you mean an act one or two on normal. I would argue thats about a 15th of the game as the real game starts at nightmare. But again, your not gonna plow through that of which you have no interest.

I'm actually always tempted to try this one. Knowing what it is (and isn't) I'm still interested and like the "Lord recruiting mechanic." My only fear is that I'll pick it up and barely play it or just "backburner it" and never really get around to it.

Mine is Borderlands 2. I LOVED Borderlands. Everything about the game was fantastic - the humor, the gameplay, the way each environment was crafted with multiple approaches to the encounters, THE LOOTZ - all of it.

Borderlands 2 was exactly what I want from a sequel - more of the same in all the good ways... but it never clicked for me. I have no clue why. The game itself isn't disappointing and to this day I have yet to figure out what went wrong for me. But I was seriously bummed.

So I felt this as well and gave it a good try. Assuming you have no inkling of getting something in the Lords of the Realm ballpark... Essentially its nothing more than an medieval RTS that has you endlessly fighting what is similar to LoTR2 type battles. Gets old, very, very quickly without the meat around it. The recruit mechanic allows you to set what a province would provide your kingdom. So the knight for example would recruit men. Thats the only economic control you have, what noble you put in charge. The focus was very much on getting you into battle. Not unlike a Dawn of War campaign mode if you are familiar with that. Minus all the fun of course...
Many sequels compromise to pander to a wider audience, but some go beyond even that by losing all faith in the original creative vision. Such franchises generally have one thing in common - they were helmed by major publishers who'd recently acquired the studios. Dragon Age: Origins was in deep development by the time EA bought out Bioware (it was too late to ruin it, so they got to the sequel instead). Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts was the first Banjo game under Microsoft's watch. Bomberman: Act Zero came about right after Konami became the majority shareholder of Hudson Soft.
