Huinehtar: Total War: Shogun 2. Steam required. Had to download 6 Go of data with Steam after installed on the first week after release?! Wtf.

It was how I stopped caring about AAA gaming.
Yep. Another;

Empire: Total War, bought the retail disc version, have to download the entire game from steam anyway, 40gb or more.

It was my last Total War, which makes me unhappy. Steam makes me unhappy.

Steam also broke my X-com with a 4gb expansion patch, that I didn't even own or have. This is an unforgivable travesty.

My list of games:

- Witcher 2 (Couldn't get past the tutorial because of the awful controls and combat. Still considering trying to give it a second try with the combat overhaul mod though)
- The Settlers 6 (this game was a horrible mess and ruined the series imo.)
- Neverwinter Nights 2 (i've finished it, but it took me coming back to it three times. And i still felt i fought the UI/camera controls and ai for party companions through the entire game. SoZ expansion did improve the gameplay somewhat though. I enjoyed the story of the expansions. The first's campaign felt like it dragged on a bit too long imo, however still slightly above nwn 1's original campaign.)

For me I would start with Ultima VIII. Ultima VII is to this day, one of the best RPGs ever made. It was a completely interactive world and believable. You really felt like you were in Britannia. I even had dreams about it in which I was walking in Lord British's castle. Then came Ultima VIII. It was an early action RPG with an unfinished story, poorly implemented arcade elements such as platform jumping. and it was full of nearly invisible death traps. When you died...game over.

While IX was also underwhelming, VIII left us with pretty low expectations, so, to me, VIII was the most disappointing.
For honorable mention, I would point out Zork Nemesis. Zork did the near impossible with Return to Zork. It turned a legendary text adventure into a fully graphic adventure. This seemed blasphemous at the time, but the game's quirky characters, off-beat humor and references to the rest of the series proved us all wrong. I still replay the game now.

Zork Nemesis threw most of the humor out the window and brought out a dark, horrific side of Zork which seemed like Myst's evil cousin. The game was good as far as play was concerned, but the story was grim and sarcastically killed off the characters in a series of Zork children's books from the 80s in horrific ways. If the game were released on its own as a dark adventure and not as a Zork game, it would have actually been a good game.

Haha. I actually loved all those three games you listed.

Loswaith: Agreed, to much trying to ride the coat tails of Assassin's Creed series (and failing), not enough trying to be like the Thief games.

Cifer84: Yeah, the cities in Assassin's Creed and the old Thief games are alive, the city in Thief (2014) is just dead and then the horrible loading times. Maybe worst the stupid story. It pains me to say, but better no Thief games anymore than something like that.
RIP Looking Glass Studios... they put out some great ones.
Captain Tsubasa 3. I remember how much i enjoy the previous game. It was in japanese, but that doesn´t matter to my brother and me. We ended that title play every day and starting it again. It was the first time we enjoy that much a vieogame. I´ll never forget the disappointing we got when we play the secuel.
Windows 8

tinyE: Windows 8
For me, every Windows version since 3.1, except 98. All of them promised to make things better but actually made them worse, except 98 which made 95 actually work with things like graphics and USB. Shame we had to pay for it twice. 2000, XP and 7 worked reasonably but added practically nothing worthwhile.

No no no no no, Vista was worse

Probably blasphemy, and maybe it's not THE most disappointing sequel I've ever played, but...

Master of Orion 2. Just felt so clunky after the original game, without adding that much more to the formula. And it's quite ugly. Okay, you got individual ship combat instead of big clusters of ships. And more detailed combat. But even combat got fussier; for me, it certainly wasn't more fun. Micromanagement, bleh.

Another is Battlefield 2, a sequel to BF1942 (skipping over BF Vietnam). This may have partly been the result of the title stretching the capabilities of my PC at the time. Online didn't feel as fun, either.
Tomb Raider V Chronicles.
Mediocre. . .

Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness.
This game is so bad, the whole team got fired for creating the monstrosity.
I hope games where I played only ˜20 minutes count, because I couldn't endure the torture of finishing the whole game, and quickly got away from it. I think not even an officially distributed nude patch could fix the wrath of the fanbase, it's this bad.

Silent Hill 4 The Room.
Yes, disappointing, but it doesn't means I hated it. The previous games set the bar too high, this game doesn't comes close to the great experience I had with the first three (my favorite is the second one, btw).
Unfortunately, it only goes downhill for this franchise after the fourth game, it's in limbo right now (thanks a lot, Konami).

Silent Hill Downpour.
Like previously stated, it only went downhill - this game is not scary at all. While SH4 didn't live to my expectations, it had a well made horror vibe, with an excellent soundtrack and all. Not this one, what is scary is how much Silent Hill got worse. Also, there's some interactive cutscenes that are lame as hell, this is NOT Silent Hill.
The team should've learned some lessons from horror movies and books. Or I don't know, perhaps played the (nearly) universally liked Silent Hill games. No, who would think understanding what the fans loved in the franchise is a good idea?

Doom III.
Previous titles set the bar too high. This is not a godawlful game (hence why I could play until the end), but it's NOT a Doom.
Diablo 3 then maybe Fallout 4; not that they were BAD games they were just so disappointing for me :\
Got around to Commandos 3, put 4 hours into it, rage quit and uninstalled.

Granted I read some of the reviews to C3 and was expecting to be disappointed but games can be disappointing and still have some redeeming qualities. Some of the reviews of Commandos 3 led me to believe this may be the case as some people said it wasn't "a bad game per se"......WRONG!!! The fiddly controls, wonky camera angles, timed missions, OP enemy snipers, trial and error game play and perhaps most importantly, the INABILITY to analyze the problem the game sets in front of you, which was THE KEY element that made C1 and C2 such excellent games. These flaws made C3 rage inducing and I would rather wipe my arse with sandpaper than play this game again.

Commandos 3 was not only disappointing but utter shite, -9999999999 / 5 stars.
