babark: and I used to do this exploit where I'd cast Bound ____, drop the item, then pick it up to obtain a permanent daedric level piece of equipment that only weighed 1. They patched that exploit out later, though, after which I didn't do it (or use some equivalent console cheat).
I read somewhere there was a flaw where if you damaged the bound item(s) and then repaired them, they would remain permanently in your inventory... Honestly i did repair a lot so i actually did this a few times...
Contrary to most I would recommend a "Remove cliffracers" mod. Makes the mountain regions too empty. Instead look for some "rational wildlife" mod (the original one seems to be gone). It makes the critters less aggressive - only diseased or provoked cliffracers (and other "animals") will attack on their own.

Emob78: Cliff Racer remover.
Never understood the psychosis about them. Sure, the critters are nasty, and hearing their cry WILL get you instantly in "full alert mode", especially when you're low level, but they are not that much of a nuisance, and they make fine archery or spearfighting targets.

Well, at least, I didn't mind them during my 3 playthrough of the game. Neither did they really bother my brother.

They're just part of the reason you have to be careful during travels when you're still "young and crunchy".

rtcvb32: because athletics, acrobatics and swimming are some of the slowest raising skills in the entire game.
Strange, it wasn't my impression. My first character, a sort of barbarian/ranger type, levelled too quickly (and thus got crappy stat increases) because he had athletics and swimming in his main skills. Simply running around exploring the mountains made the athletics/acrobatics increase at a brisk pace.

I remember running and jumping all the time and it felt like it took forever to level those stats... Even after beating the main game, and Tribunal, i think i only got them to maybe 80 each... While i had half my weapons and most of my armor skills at 100.

While Acrobatics and Athletics were the first skills to hit 100 in my playthrough. Although my orc barbarian was big on exploring, finding new passes between the moutains, jumping from one roof to the other as a shortcut, and other "parkour" style stunts, so that probably helped. ;)

I LOVED traveling and exploring the countryside in that game.

Hmmm... I do recall running everywhere... Well except when i was sneaking and backstabbing... :P Or enchanting... But definitely running everywhere otherwise, as walking was too slow...
Mmmh. I may mix some things up with my "Daggerfall Nord Ranger playthrough", but I'm pretty sure I hit 100 fast for those skills (and for the stamina stat, whetever it was) in Morrowind. Weird.

rtcvb32: One mod you can do yourself is modifying how many skill gains it takes to get to +5 on your stat during level up, which i'd do all of them, otherwise to be optimal you might end up with a notebook full of notes of which skills you've leveled up and which you haven't, and purposefully acting certain ways not to level other skills up so you can work on primary skills needed to get the +5 per (which would be +15 or +11, if you put 1 into luck...)
I never read the manual. I played mostly on my room mate's PC. What is that +5 stat increase? I though that a all stat increases were the same!

Take a look here. Morrowind uses a weird leveling scheme, and it's possible that the rest of the Elder Scrolls game do as well.

And I never noticed it. I played Arena and Daggerfall too. I really suck at RPGs!
Thank you for the quick helpful link, JMich. You seem to know everything about every game!

Now I need to rest and meditate on what I've learned.
Morrowind Overhaul is out of date, I'm personally just going to wait till the guy gets around to updating it before installing GOG morrowind version.

No! Not the same!

In short, you get bonuses to specific stats if you use skills that use those stats. So alchemy would be intelligence, heavy armor strength, light armor dexterity, etc. To get +5 you need to get 10 skills that use those particular stats; And to be optimal 10 of those should be your primary skills.
I acquired and installed Morrowind as well as the Morrowind Overhaul 3.0 package. No problems from what I could see and the game looks better than I remember.

When you install the "Overhaul" package, it claims it doesn't work with digital downloads, but it apparently worked with the version from GOG.

from what I recall that was because other digital stores often encrypted the executable files so programs like the code patch couldn't work.

Yeah that would make them have issues... But if Bethesda just removed the CD check for GoG, then that would make it a superior version to the steam one... (i think?)
