Medieval Dynasty looks interesting and has good reviews. Just unsure of jumping on an early access game.
I'm in a mood for a good SHMUP! Fat chance, fancy pants.

How about Bannerlord?

If you are referring to Mount & Blade II I have never played it or any game in the series.
games for every mood

I highly doubt that.

@ciemnogrodzianin: Thank you, useful as always. Know your contribution is appreciated.
I liked Scanner Sombre – and I think about playing the game again, on a bit bigger screen. I'm usually bored by walking simulators, but this one is different. I really liked the atmosphere and the way you explore the surroundings. The game is short, but I think it's a good thing here.

The gameplay for Bannerlord was praised and loved by people who waited 10 years for it to be released. I saw a lot of videos and it looking very good.

Hello ciemnogrodzianin!

Another recommendation for "Scanner Sombre" from me, as well!

Initially, I was sceptical, but the premise and presentation as a huge point-cloud was very intriguing.
After reading your review (here on GOG), ciemnogrodzianin, I decided to give it a try.
And it was a fantastic experience for me!
Thank you so much, ciemnogrodzianin!

I do love games focussed on or heavily lending towards exploration. In principal "Scanner Sombre" is not to different from "Swansong" or "Devil's Tuning Fork", except that it lacks any kind of puzzle. Yes, indeed, it is a pure (so-called) walking simulator.
What made it so outstanding for me is the detailed realization of the depicted underground world of an intricate cave system, which you are discovering in reverse (from its deepest point up to the surface - usually it is the opposite direction). And what a surprise, when you turn around on your pass and see literally everything you have uncovered/marked with your LIDA until that point, because the game renders the entirety at the same time! Imagine how satisfying it is to do so at the end of your journey - both ingame and on the 3D map screen - and seeing the end result of your marked point-cloud!

For me there are only two downsides of the experience:

First, in the first quarter or third of your journey you reach some stone halls or quarters with huge wooden doors of the ancient type, where the individual rooms and elements (actual game assets or building blocks) repeat a little too often and seem to be copy pasted. Believe me, this sense of repetition occured only there. From there on, finding the underground river (...) the marvelous cave design is nothing short of remarkable and sometimes awe-inspiring!

And second, my system had a rough time to deal with the game, not because it is a resource hog, but because of its save system. For each safe file acumlates in the end up to almost 1 GB in size (and I mean really everyone of them including the auto-save)! Loading my final save file for screenshot taking took close to half an hour.
I do not know, whether my behaviour of "coloring" each and every surface with the LIDA had to do with it. Although, I made some brief tests and found that it did not change to much with the density of "points" per surface. I guess, once even a single LIDA point is associated with a surface, the surface is kept in the (video) memory.

A third minor letdown could be when you actually do realize how the illusion of the intricate cave and surface irregularities are being created (from a technical point of view).
Still, the experience was way more impressive to me than current triple-A graphics.

Final note to a now curious reader, please, do yourself a favor and do not rush through the game. Enjoy every step of the discovery and soak in its unique atmosphere.

Kind regards,
foxgog

Thanks for your opinion and I'm happy you've liked it. Perhaps it's something about type of imagination, because the game seems to "click" for some people and does not for other. In my case sense of depth and space in the game was very strong, actually starting from the trailer. I remember some old games with terrible graphics making the same strange, impossible to explain effect – you fill height, claustrophobia or space much stronger than in some photorealistic games.

Regarding save size – interesting, I don't remember such issue; or perhaps I didn't noticed. But I remember my PC was quite busy, indeed, and the final sequence was a bit too challenging :D

Anyway – the game is definitely completely different than anything else – and I think it makes it worth trying for the current price.

Hello again, ciemnogrodzianin!

Indeed, even though at one time I could see right through the illusion in "Scanner Sombre", it stirrs my imagination like no other game did before!
And I agree with your conclusion about some of the old games, as well. Even certain rogue-likes can be more effective in giving me the sense of "being there" and "feeling" something, than modern photorealistic games.
Our imagination can go way further than even todays technology allows. Besides, with older lackluster graphics it is really easier for me to forgive and overlook graphical shortcomings.
Modern photorealism in all its commendable fidelity fails for me in two aspects: My eyesight is not the best anymore (actually, it never was) and I do not even see neither such kind of sharpness nor color-depth in real life. Hence, modern photorealistic graphics in high definition (I know we reached 4k and 8k) feel unrealistic and therefore "uncanny" to me!
And secondly, even very small details or rather inconsistencies, e.g. in lighting, shadowing, or less than life-like animation destroy the illusion in my head, completely.

Independently, "Scanner Sombre" gets a whole-hearted recommendation from me, too!

And do not forget to give the two included prototypes a try!
I especially liked the humor in "Wrong Wire", with its homage to hilarious movie contraptions.

Kind regards,
foxgog
Phanthom doctrine and the deluxe update are at 80% discount. The deluxe version is at 60%. Separately they cost way less than together. It does not make much sense.

(Maybe GOG might want to check this with the publisher? or something like that)

Anyone has tried Professional Farmer: Cattle and Crops?

or Farmer's Dynasty?

I wonder if there are levels of automation, like you can plan to plow a land plot or to sow and it will be done, in case you do not want to drive the machine. So that you can actually perform the tasks "manually" if you want to.

I would like to focus on managing the farm more than on performing every little task (unless I want to). Planning before sowing, taking strategic decisions (some of them long term) and then managing the crops with tactical decisions. With a solid simulation (of which some elements might be switched on or off at will, like in the most detailed flight simulators). From weather to plagues to machinery and credit availabilty to agricultural policy in the country the game is set. I am not sure what would be a good game for that.

All Worms on Promo!

Please let me recommend you (and thank you for all interesting opinions here)

• £5 • -75% • Worms W.M.D

I was so stubborn and skeptical for 5 years! I thought there is nothing better than WWPRem. or WormsArm. played through programs like Hamachi or Game Ranger, where I played with my Brazillian and Worldwide friends and we have (re)invented endless moves possibilities with the use of ninja rope...

...until now...
it has it all and more... cheesy as never before, can`t stop playing like in 1999

Carradice: What might the best version to get into Worms as of now? Which would you recommend for starters? Getting back to the original Worms? Do you think it is even worth for SP?
: ) Thanks! I still do think that Worms W.M.D. has it all, as for starters as for experienced players.
There are New Worms on the horizon https://youtu.be/DIF9T0dWAuA Worms Rumble Real-Time, but this is completely different game, looks exciting tho.
