Men of War: Vietnam is a new game for the critically acclaimed series.

The new, story-driven campaign lets you taste the explosive mix of the jungle, Hueys and rock-n-roll in 1968.

The US campaign focuses on a team of elite special ops soldiers, and each one of them has a personality. The unit includes Sergeant John Merrill, machine-gunner Jim Walsh, sniper Sonny Armstrong, grenade launcher operator Carl Dillan and combat engineer Bill Kirby. In some missions they can count only on themselves, while in the others they act together with regular US and South-Vietnamese troops.

The North Vietnam campaign tells the story of two Soviet military consultants and two soldiers of the North Vietnam Army who are the only survivors of an ambush prepared by the US troops. The task of getting back to the North Vietnam territory is a difficult one – they have no means of radio communication, no wheeled vehicles, and it’s too far to make it there on foot. On their way these survivors get involved in a chain of bloodbath engagements and find themselves in the dead center of the well-known Tet offensive. Missions range from special operations (rescuing a shot-down pilot, escorting a reporter, etc.) to full scale battles.
  • There are two sides in every story, so two new story-driven campaigns attempt to show the war from both sides.
  • Breathtaking missions including an ambush on the Ho Chi Minh trail, a game of cat and mouse in the Mekong Delta, raids into Cambodia and Laos, bridge defense during the Tet offensive and more.
  • New weapons and units: M-16, T-54, M-113, Patton III, M-60, AK-47, M-14, RPG-2, M-72 LAW, RPK and many more.

WORST of all the "MoW" series

There are only 6 vehicles! The "M113", "YW-531", "M24 Chaffee", "M48 Patton", "T-34/85" and "T-54". Not even 10% of what the WW2 "MoW" titles had! There's no M114's, M3 Halftracks, M50's, M60 Pattons, M47 Pattons, M46 Super Pershings, M26 Pershings, M551 Sheridans (because they could NOT be arsed adding new code to handle ATGM's), M4A3E8 Shermans, M901 TOW Vehicles, T-55's, T-10M's, IS-2's, IS-3's, BTR-40's, BTR-50's, BTR-60's, SU-100's, SU-85's, PT-76's, ASU-57's. There's only ONE artillery piece, the US M114 of WW2 vintage. None of the 1000's of pieces of Russian artillery used by Vietnam. NO self propelled artillery vehicles. No AT-Guns, fixed or self-propelled, including none of the high-powered, high penetration "recoilless rifles" that were very common in Vietnam, types such as the B-10, B-11, M40 etc. No ATGM's, vehicle or manpack whatsoever. The only modern AT included are the M72 LAW and RPG-7, which are still pretty much same as the WW2 title's Bazooka's and Panzerschrecks - just with higher penetration stats. The only real new thing they've added is helicopters, just TWO, the Mi-4 and the UH-1..... no AH-1 Cobra! As for aircraft, only the old WW2 IL-2 Sturmovik appears..... not even the post-WW2 IL-10 version!!!!! No MiG-15's, 17's, 19's or 21's, no jets at all for the Vietnamese! The US only has the F-4 Phantom, AND THE RETARDS COULDN'T EVEN GET THAT RIGHT..... LABELLING IT "F-14"!!!!! The title sequence video shows an A-1 Skyraider in action..... THAT ISN'T EVEN IN THE GAME NEITHER!!!!! Ok, you may be saying, well Vietnam was mostly an infantry war. Well yes, but even in this, "MoW : V" is only HALF as varied as the WW2 MoW titles, with only half as many infantry weapons and items included. On top of this the difficulty levels are STUPID, and it is bug-riddled / crashes constantly like "Red Tide" and "Condemned Heroes"! WORST OF ALL THE "MEN OF WAR" GAMES BY FAR!!!!! SPECIAL ADDITION? IT ADDS NOTHING!!!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!

Another disappointment

I think the creators either replace a few people or think about a couple of things right away (I add them, they won't happen because we are talking about game developers). Let's start with the positives because it is less. The targeting system has improved somewhat, the maps give the Vietnamese atmosphere well, and the units look very good. I liked the Russian-Vietkong campaign, although there were problems on the first course, but later, it was completely acceptable. Especially the second and third maps were great, give me back the old Soldiers mood. I want to write here that the music of the game is simply fantastic, especially the combat music is amazingly good. Unfortunately, that was the positive, the negatives. Serious, a lot of problems. An RPG only blow up a helicopter? We are talking about one of the strongest rocket launches of that age. Still, no vehicle is destroyed, just damaged. When it comes to helicopters, they are very buggy. The main problem, however, is that the American campaign and the bonuses are not at all entertaining, annoying and ridiculous like the Allied campaigns in the Assault Squad. The first map is to go here and then there, oh, this was missed, oops another task, it's ridiculous. And the first bonus map is completely pathetic because, as I wrote, the rocket launcher does not destroy anything except the helicopter. It starts in the right direction, but we are the same. I don't think we should finally deal with boring formations and reality chanting, but to return to the well -functioning things. I'm sorry, who liked the game I wish all of you more fun, but that wasn't what I wanted. So I won't be good -hearted, this game gets what it deserve.

SP missions

This game is not like the other men of war games, it almost exclusively features a 5 to 6 man squad that you keep basically the entire campaign. However I loved that fact because it gave me the opportunity to kit out my guys and really pay attention to their inventory, most of the time on large scale you don't bother with any of that unless you have to.
