timppu: I've yet to find an XInput game that wouldn't work fine on my Logitech F310 gamepad.
Crackpot.756: Even better, I've yet to come across a PC game that wouldn't work fine with a mouse and/or keyboard.
I kinda assumed that games were compatible with the XBox controller either because it's a Microsoft product (like Windows?) or because they were developed with an XBox version in mind.
Actually, I'd like it if more games with gamepad support actively supported the XBox controller rather than generic pads because I'm too dumb to figure out which of the buttons is "Button 1".
...though generally, I guess I understand the complaint. Meanwhile, I've also played Runner 2 with a PS2 controller and XPadder before I realized (once again) that I'm bad at games and gave up on it.
The problem is that a lot of games like AC show the controls on an XBox controller and will not change to reflect where they actually are on the keyboard. So, you're left doing a lot of translation in your head about where you have things mapped.
It's probably not as bad if you're using a controller that has buttons in similar places, but it still puts a ton of strain at the beginning when you're first learning to play a game.
iphgix: You have a choice between native use of XBOX, or additional software required to make any other controller act like an XBOX controller. I agree that it is limiting, but I do not think the game developers are 100% to blame for this. I'd blame microsoft.
sunshinecorp: I usually blame Microsoft about everything, so I won't argue on that. :D
Indeed. MS is one of the worst things to happen to computing. Not only do they do a piss poor job of creating their software, they encourage developers to half-ass things so that they won't have competition from 3rd parties. It never ceases to amaze me when something doesn't work as described and they don't care about fixing it.
