Need for Speed: The Run PC Version seems to expect one to use an Xbox 360 controller since I tried to play it with my joystick and it definitely feels awkward trying to juggle buttons on my joystick. Not just through the QTE, but also throughout the entire game. Haven't played it solely on the keyboard though.

Add the AVGN game in too. From what I heard, default key bindings aren't really useful and can't be changed, so gamepad away!

If you get a decent amount of GOG games listed, do make a GOGmix!

timppu: I've yet to find an XInput game that wouldn't work fine on my Logitech F310 gamepad.

Crackpot.756: Even better, I've yet to come across a PC game that wouldn't work fine with a mouse and/or keyboard.

I kinda assumed that games were compatible with the XBox controller either because it's a Microsoft product (like Windows?) or because they were developed with an XBox version in mind.

Actually, I'd like it if more games with gamepad support actively supported the XBox controller rather than generic pads because I'm too dumb to figure out which of the buttons is "Button 1".
...though generally, I guess I understand the complaint. Meanwhile, I've also played Runner 2 with a PS2 controller and XPadder before I realized (once again) that I'm bad at games and gave up on it.
The problem is that a lot of games like AC show the controls on an XBox controller and will not change to reflect where they actually are on the keyboard. So, you're left doing a lot of translation in your head about where you have things mapped.

It's probably not as bad if you're using a controller that has buttons in similar places, but it still puts a ton of strain at the beginning when you're first learning to play a game.

iphgix: You have a choice between native use of XBOX, or additional software required to make any other controller act like an XBOX controller. I agree that it is limiting, but I do not think the game developers are 100% to blame for this. I'd blame microsoft.
avatar
sunshinecorp: I usually blame Microsoft about everything, so I won't argue on that. :D
Indeed. MS is one of the worst things to happen to computing. Not only do they do a piss poor job of creating their software, they encourage developers to half-ass things so that they won't have competition from 3rd parties. It never ceases to amaze me when something doesn't work as described and they don't care about fixing it.

Riptide GP2 refused to recognize a single button on my Logitech Attack 3 stick, but worked flawlessly with the 360 controller.

Added Bastion and Gateways.

Gateways is another example which recognizes directinput but randomly, which prevents QJoyPad to function as an easy solution. -.-

Better no directinput support than one without button mapping, dammit.

Coelocanth: Just to be clear here, you're looking for games that are XBOX controller specific and not just games that just don't work well with KB+M? Like Dark Souls?
Works fine for me.

Hell, there's a guy who beat it with a Rock Band controller.

This. I play both new and old games and every single game that messed with my older controller works fine now. It is pretty cheap too, so I do not see the problem. You might want to complain about new games don't supporting Windows 95 as well.
Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition
King of Fighters XIII
Ace Combat: Assault Horizon
Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition
Assassin's Creed series
Dark Souls series

Plenty of games forcing us on the XBox controller....
This list would ideally mention whether a game works with x360ce (which is most games except those using the Unity engine).

Klumpen0815: Grand Theft Auto IV
DirectInput support was apparently added in Title Update Version 1.0.3.0 but has to be enabled manually in-game or with a command line parameter.

I haven't even found an easy to use x360ce equivalent for Linux yet, anyone know one with which you can do everything in a gui (like with QJoyPad)?
Many of the games in this list have Linux ports, so this is quite important.

Brothers: a tale of two sons (in the OPs list) is one of the games who do not work fine with M&K. You controlled each brother at the same time with the left and right side of the gamepad. There are a few games like this, build especially around gamepads.
What about the dark souls series?

craig_ethan_123: What about the dark souls series?
From what I gather, they don't even work properly with the new Logitech gamepads in XInput-mode.

Yes, so they force you to get a xbox game pad
