Finally, the sky is within our grasp! Did you reach out to it already? Are you planning on doing so during the weekend? Well go on, show us how your universe looks like!

Every planet in the vast, boundless galaxy of No Man's Sky is a unique ecosystem, with different vistas, creatures, and environmental conditions greeting each and every one of us when we begin our adventure.

So to all you explorers out there: capture these opening moments of your journey in a one-minute video or grab some luscious screenshots and share them here with the rest of us spacefarers.

So, GOGarins, how does your universe look like?
It took me less than 2 minutes to break it..

"Xyem" is in their profanity filter. I do not recommend using "><" as a substitute for 'X', as nothing after the ">" is rendered[1] when, say, entering the system, rather than saying "><yeminion", it will just say ">".

Unfortunately, that means either '>' or '<' is being handled specially or improperly, which does not bode well.

[1] Or anything after, including the '>'

EDIT: Other than that, I've only just come off it after playing it since launch (9 hours?).

No Man's Sky, WTF is that? I think it's one of those games that will be loved by a certain type of person and become a bit of a cult game over time after the hype wears off, but most people won't ever "get" it.

My playlist for the weekend for now is Resident Evil 4, on a REAL gaming machine, the Wii. In glorious 480p. It's awesome, no idea why I waited this long to finally play it.

anothername: Does anybody know how to rename? To have my ingame character (or ingame anything) running around with my gog forum name is annoying like hell.
Why, were you wanting to switch to using another name? :)

<sorry, couldn't resist>

Piranjade: There are several streams of No Man's Sky on the GOGcom twitch channel. Memoriesin8Bit showed 4 hours of the game, right now NaturlaDave is streaming for 3 hours, followed by RetrogradeTom, after that it's Kilg0re_Tr0ut... So yeah, this will go on for a while. Tune in if you like! :-D

The streams are still going on! Kilg0re_Tr0ut will stream until 10am CEST, then there might be a small break if nobody jumps in, then comes ArvanEleron for two hours followed by PantslessAaron for another two hours!

Working perfectly for me - no issues at all.

Having a blast wandering about the first planet. Been to space, been caving, had advice from my wife and daughter on naming species, upgraded multitool several times already. Accidentally started a battle with sentinels that I just survived. And mined a floating rock of copper too. And some of the asteroids as well.

4.5 hours so far - loving it.

fronzelneekburm: I'm trying to force myself through Dead Space (which is supposed to be the unofficial System Shock 3 or something...)

mistermumbles: Only people talking out of their asses would claim such things. Officially nobody ever claimed that.
I wish that was true. Actually, check System Shock 2's wiki page, which implies that Dead Space was supposed to be the official System Shock 3 at some point. Visceral Games was supposedly working on System Shock 3, EA couldn't figure out the rights situation, the project got dropped and a few years later they come out with Dead Space, which is System Shock 2 Extra Lite. Hmmmmmmmm....

drealmer7: I've tried playing the game twice so far and can't make it past 10 minutes without being bored already, and I am farrrrr from having a short attention span or needing things constantly happening or whatever, it's just boring, fast. I intend to give it 1 more try and force myself to play 1 hr and see if my opinion changes.
Spoiler alert: It probably won't. Thing is, the game constantly throws stuff at you that's supposed to startle you or make you feel on the edge, but none of it worked for me. After the umpteenth mutant pops up out of nowhere for me to mutilate, I just roll my eyes, thinking "Oh jeez, here we go again... again!" Not exactly the sort of reaction a horror game should strive for.

I'm unsure what kind of computer you all play on, but mine isn't brand new and I installed the game right at launch time, booted it up and... not problems. Runs great on default settings. No lag, no bugs.

I got my ship repaired, got a warp drive installed, talked to some aliens... sorta... at least they didn't kill me. just found the recipe for antimatter for the warp drive. Things are going well.

You have to learn the language.

You slowly start to understand them.
This game! Damn, it's so cool landing on a new planet and discovering cool new species. I'm excited to see what else I'll find.

Yes it is extremely fun!

Just remember to take small breaks once and while when you hit save points hehe
I just noticed that i can't minimize the game: if i do, i can't maximize it its just staying black and i can hear music but i cant no longer play :(

Switching to borderless windowed mode seems to fix that.

Also apparently frame limit set to "Max" and V-sync to "On" will improve the game's performance. :)

Well, there's my gaming week-end, right there - Kilgore, Arvan & RetroTom - with the hilarity of the chat-room to boot.

I raise a fine ale to the devs of the game, for working on updates & patches - seems they're even taking into consideration purchasers with below min spec systems.

That is exemplary.

It is kinda a win-lose for streamers right now..
This game just screams streaming specially considering you can name everything.
And most are really enjoying it.

All the raging kiddies that we all see/experience right now all over that have toy computers...
are even trolling streamers. Not to mention steam , gog , youtube and reddit.

Not sure if they infected twitter but wouldn't doubt it.

So most of the player base has toy computers that can't run the game properly even above min spec?

Total biscuit had a gtx 1080 and he was having major problems, stop defending terrible optimization. They seem to have rolled out a few good updates but the launch wasn't good.
