QC: I vote Ian and wpegg for GOG's official trade commissioner
I nominate xyem.
I can only suggest for folks here to trade with reputable member. GOG has become much bigger and popular. There are loads of silent reader monitoring gifting threads daily. And i'm not surprise if scammers out there already take notice of GOG community's generosity.

Thunderstone: Could you post a screen shot of this please? (not sure how to get this line out of quote format :/ )
Sure, I've attached one now, remember they're in reverse order. What do you want it for?

There are, unfortunately, a few scammers with significant forum rep.

That's unfortunate. I guess it's time to do more research about the trader. Only trade with user which has proven track record or somebody which is well-known gifter.

Gone are the day we can trade with no worries.
This sucks. I've actually done the exact opposite of these scammers. Set up a trade, and then after I give them my end, I tell them to keep their game or money. I just tried to help people who might refuse a gift and wanted something.

People suck sometimes. It's really a shame to see people trying to screw over others in such a good community as this one. Maybe giveaways should be curtailed for awhile? Maybe if we tone it down, the scammers will move on to other places for more attractive targets?

It happens everywhere, the fact that we went without for so long can only be attested to good luck or just to the good nature of regular users. By the way, out of curiosity, can I interest you in an indie bundle?

Since he still hasn't gone away, rooshandark8. No doubt he'll start bleating about being innocent. As a recap: Solicits free games and money, trolls giveaways, trades the codes he gets, traded the same HIB code to multiple people...oh, and ruins P&P sessions. :P

Dean_Demon: Yeah scams and scammers are pretty easy to spot and doesnt take much knowledge, most are from eastern block countries where they appear to talk nonsense and appear to be arrogant and all are only interested in obtaining your ID,soon as someone wants that it is time to walk away,if it seems to good to be true then it obviously is.
I'm going to kick your arse if you first forward me your relevant personal details :D
One of the unfortunate things about having such a generous community is that gifts get taken advantage of. If it bothers folks so much, then just modify the way that you do contests. You're not realistically going to catch forum multis, but much of the rest of it can be handled.

Personally, I don't generally make gifts in public. I do occasionally drop the odd code where people find it, but creating an entire gift thread just encourages people to come here and begzor everybody.

Ultimately, if you really want to deal with the problem, there are two basic ways to deal with it, you can either stop trading with random people you don't know.

Or somebody can set up some sort of escrow service. Perhaps even an escrowbot to take codes and not dispense them until the second set are offered.

Ultimately, posting the names is unlikely to make any meaningful difference as there are easy ways around that.
This is very sad. But I guess it was bound to happen eventually with the large influx of new members and users. Just gonna have to try and be more vigilant on the people I recognize, and as much as I hate to do it, eye those with low rep a little more suspiciously. I haven't done any trading on here, but will now and then gift folks a game. I'd hate to think I have randomly given some scumbag scammer a game, who is on here screwin other members. I think by just being on here often, and reading the different threads, one can get a good idea of who the good people are...we all just have to be a little more cautious I think. Would hate to see these pricks cause some damaging discourse in our nice little community here.... Are there really members with high rep scamming others on here?
Favorited to see if it keeps being updated. This is one reason I keep a list of good traders going when I post in classifieds.

... really?

I only traded with him once a while back, had no problems. He keeps offering indie bundle codes to me though. :P
