Imagine, I have my own giveaway, here at GOG. And I say, white people only. So nobody here has the right to call me a racist? LOL

wpegg: The main difficulty I forsee is validation of the keys, and the fact that GOG then locks the validated key out for 10 minutes.
avatar
pH7: Just curious; will the key get locked if the one checking it already has the game(s)? That is, GOG could safely skip locking in that case as that wouldn't contribute to a racing condition, but do they actually differentiate?
I'm pretty sure they don't. When I gave something away on the ninja giveaway, it kept being locked, because people were validating to see what it was, then realising they had it.

Come on, those are two entirely different things.
and there is a world of difference between posts that state something and posts that attack some point of view. You are free to have your opinion but don't act like it's the best one out there.

langurmonkey: Yeah, it's up to the person to come up with their own rules. But I have the right to tell them they are being unreasonable. So until some law comes out that makes that illegal, enough of this shit. Freedom of speech, ever heard of it?
avatar
gameon: I'm not saying you aren't allowed to show that you feel someones rules are unfair, but i dont feel that someone's giveaway rules would be unreasonable. Think about it. They dont have to give anything away, but they do it for others. It's just that sometimes, there are rules such as "please dont enter if you have this game already".....
I don't feel entitled to anyone's games. I just think it is unfair to not include GOG members because they haven't put in 4 months time into the community. It is basically saying fuck you to the new members. And why? Because of ONE guy who is a douchebag scamming people?

I didn't act like my opinion is the best one out there. It is all in your head. Why don't you relax?

Because that's even remotely close to being the same thing as requiring 100 rep.

It would also be quite difficult to enforce.

For the record, adding the requirement of murdering someone in order to qualify would also (likely) be frowned upon.

Edit: I'd also like to add that I wasn't actually supporting the thrown around idea of requiring 100 rep. I simply don't feel like it's my call to make. It's not my stuff being handed out.

No, they are not two entirely different things. And you are not getting it. My point is. just because it is YOUR GIVEAWAY, doesn't make it not allowed for people to share their thoughts on your giveaway rules.

Yes there is. White people = racism

rep = safety measure

That's a Fox News level straw man argument.

No, it's saying "Hey, join the community, and if You stick around, You'll get loads of opportunities to win games because it's a generous one". If that sounds unfair to You, You're free to find a better one.
To a degree it is a form of elitism and how does that stop it from happening again at best it just limits the pool of people.

I don't know what that is but it seems you don't get it. My point is, everyone had the right to say something based on what they see if they think something is UNFAIR or something is RACIST or something is INTERESTING or something is etc etc. Get it now?

That is how you see it. But that is not how I see it.

Safety measure at the expense of others. A bunch of people being punished due to one man. But you are missing my point. Let me make things more clear. FORUM = freedom of speech as long as GOG allows it and you don't say anything illegal. So telling me I have no right to say something is an opinion, I disagree with because I do have the right to say something is unfair, and I also believe if someone is unfair, someone should speak up. I am living by my beliefs. It is as simple as that.

this, 1000x times this. Plus, if they pad rep by posting stupid things and acting like trolls they can always get -rep so 100 or even 150 looks better and better with each passing minute :D

Giveaways have always been left to individuals to sort out for as long as i can remember. The only way you could get a general giveaway system would be like with steamgifts. But even then you get those ones that you have to pay to be involved in.

It's nothing personal about you.

Punished? That's like complaining that I can't get a loan to buy a house because I have no credit. You do have the right to complain about both if you want though.
