I do not enjoy the new "hostile" direction of some users; as it will not help their cause. People should remember, in general most Japanese companies are pretty protective when it comes to their franchises and Sony was no less one of those being very protective.

So it is actually a miracle and a good sign Sony is nowadays considering some releases on GoG, which is a pretty fortunate direction to the community with "another taste". I think, the society as a whole was somewhat losing a lot of humility, towards individuals but as well towards many matters including companies. No, i am generally no human with the ability "to behave", this is not my strong spot. Although my ability to be thankful for some pretty major steps is even bigger than my ability of "not behaving that well", or in other words, there are fragments of my rather critical attitude that is purely lead by my heart, not only my brain. Same can happen to absolutely anyone, including some decision or maybe trouble-maker in the "higher positions". However, for it to happen you will have to hand out trust and still keep a peaceful attitude.

Sure, it is a fact that Sony currently is in favor of EGS because EGS is paying some good coins for it to happen. Well, they are a company and unfortunately coins are playing a important role, so i guess they will simply serve EGS first and GoG will come "some time after". As long as GoG is not willing or capable of "pushing" it themself... this is simply how Sony will sort it out for themself. Luckily i am a very patient being with everything that requires "connection" and "good will", as it will not work another way and it goes "both directions".

There is indeed many truth with those words. My view regarding this matter is, the "coming soon" spec kinda got abused by many directions. One part is sometimes caused by publishers all of a sudden "stepping back" from some agreements they did with GoG and the other part is probably caused by GoG themself trying to boost even a very slight hint from a publisher... for example "we are considering a God of War release if the previous sells goes rather well" and GoG may take it or present it as "almost for granted"... although most likely there has never been a very clear agreement on the publisher side. We as customers are lacking this important insight, so we can only guess.

Still, i was playing games for almost a eternity already and i got some personal insight regarding the general shape of the industry. Based on this "little wisdom" i would say that Sony is generally very strict to their agreements and not one of those all of a sudden "stepping back from some kind of agreements". The difficult spot simply is that Sony most likely did not make a clear agreement, rather hinting at a possible outcome. While it may not sound to nice actually many people or companies are behaving like this... and it is still a step up from the position of "never ever"... this is just how the cookie crumbles.

Well yeah, the things are not always that clear and the one thing that will surely help any cause is simply to stay peaceful and not to lose your trust in "miracles able to happen". As long as people keep supporting the rather not so preferable stuff... it will always become tough becoming support for something in favor of... so patience goes a long way.

I will admit, my post could come across as slightly hostile, I do feel the same as another person said where if it was not shown on the front page as often, it might make people not ask as often.

I think another aspect that you didn't touch on and a big reason some people use gog over Steam/EGS (including myself) is that here the games are released without any form of DRM and publishers not wanting their games to be pirated. Yes, we all know it still happens, the drm just makes it take "longer" to happen.

Hint: A lesson even CDPR had to learn, even if a game is simultaneously released on any platform... around 70-80% of the gamers still are jumping on the "Steam-bandwagon" and if a game is released on GoG only, the sells may become reduced by more than 50% compared to the "prefered platform," (at least, it can be way more than this). Gamers do not really care any conditions... as long as it is on the platform "with many friends..." comparable to Whatsapp which is as well "the platform everyone is going, so only this one used and they will protect this rule°°" and the Chrome browser which is the mobile browser every sheeps is using. I could go on with this "route of insight" forever... human are simply sheep by their very nature, a proven fact. °°If another friend is telling them "but i only use Signal, so please use it for me"... they usually say "no way... then you can be gone, deleting a friend". They may have hundreds of apps installed, including spambots from Google, but the App without their "friendzone" is not worthy of their time.

Sure, it is a very degenerated way of "thinking"; because they may say "what you use Signal or GoG... then you got just a few friends". I would say "well yes, but i do not suffer the [choice overload] so i can actually still get true friends and not just a gigantic kind of friendzone which will never leave its dry surface."

Ultimately the outcome simply is: GoG is nothing more than a backup, a backup for everyone else... including the companies out there but not a "racing horse" or a "cash cow", rather a hopefully peaceful panda bear instead. Socially rather a hungry bear or a wolf, not a cow or a sheep.

Sure, EGS is pushing it by handing out the highest amount of free games in history along with many rewards, yet they still not even barely can challenge the biggest platform and are kinda in the same boat such as GoG. But who cares, as long as we are able to support the stuff we truly enjoy, the room for changes will never stop, such as life is always in a constant change too. I am sure we will see many more new stuff from Sony, but the time of arrival simply is uncertain.

Besides; DRM in the beginning of GoG surely was a major concern but this issue is not anymore the major concern, rather the simply "to low sales" instead. Companies like Capcom love their DRM, yes... but in case GoG got the sales of the biggest platform... they will remove any DRM... no problem.

Pretty sure GoW was supposed to be part of this sale, but there's still some hiccups.

Got every Sony published game on gog, any addition would be neat, it doesn't have to be GoW. I'd honestly rather see something else in stead of GoW. :)

Why can not another one "bring the (those) things" to you? How comes it can only (to a certain extend) be provided by a "ethically bankrupt company"?

Fact is, thanks to a company such as Sony we was able to get a high amount of great games and it was clearly improving the gaming culture in many ways. Of course, Sony got many more activities (same for MS and a lot of other huge companies) but they had some big influence on gaming and currently they got the by far most sought after next gen console too.

Is it forbidden to provide Linux games with open source and maybe a Linux console? Nope... but why is almost no one doing it and if so without any success? A system thing? Well, "the system is worth as much as the users supporting it", this is simply a harsh rule. The users... yes, they enjoy things that has been served "on a silver platter", preferably ready to be eaten right from the platter no matter the cost. So, they need some herder able to provide the things they are demanding... a feed trough for the sheeps. As it seems some big companies was great at executing it and luring all the necessary resources into their home. Maybe you have your own insight... if you let me/us know.

I do not care... nor GoG (i am certain) "how much impact" it is able to cause, it is fully sufficient if the impact is only hitting GoG and no other place. The biggest weirdness... a paradox, is the thing that you actually care acting the way you do, because according to your own theory... those words on a "podunk forum" got no more impact than "any insults"... most likely just about anywhere.

I strongly have to disagree, this is not how a human is working and a company is a accumulation of many humans with a certain structure and philosophy. Insults, any kind of, will slowly accumulate and the outcome of this accumulations will always "hit the weak at first", so ethically you are doing something pretty worse... lets think about in a hopefully more soothed manner.

No issue bringing issues "to the table" but insults are always wrong.

Maybe they could stop calling it "soon", but I'm not sure what to call it instead. "In pipeline, release probably in next year or year after that" - yeah... no. Maybe just keep soon and add "approximate release date: [2024 Q4/unknown/we'd tell you if not for NDA]" field to game card.

I have to agree, GoG should hand out more transparency to the users and, if possible, hand out a more specific release date. If very unsure... probably rather stepping back from announcing it way to early.

Exactly. Personally I do prefer to know the game is coming. If they hadn't announced GoW last year I think I would've got it on Epic during their extremely generous sale. But seeing many people are waiting for it and we are talking about already released game for PC giving a more spedific time period for release would be a good idea I guess(like late feb or early march) if they have a date... We don't really know anything about the deal though so we should consider all possibilities including that there is no date but rather there is something else

GOG release is better than Steam or Epic though.

While I personally don´t mind it much (the DreadX stuff have been marked as "coming soon" for much longer, and how many years was the System Shock remake listed as such before it finally released?), they could use the term "Upcoming" instead pf "soon". On the community wishlist they used to use the flag "working on it" as well, but I don't see them use that one anymore.

In the case of GoW, it was legitimately meant to be "coming soon" not long after the Winter Sale, per what we knew via Clownski. Unfortunately apparently there have been some hiccups, also via Clownski.

No it's not. I've never seen a GOG release be better than a Steam release. The Steam release is always up to date. The GOG version *sometimes* is kept up to date and *sometimes* has achievements. I don't really know about Epic.

And if I needed to I can play the Steam release without the Steam client same as the GOG version. But in practice that's never been necessary.

All that said I would have bought it on GOG, they just took too long and I didn't know it would show up here until long after I had already bought it. That's probably why they've been advertising GoW in advance to give people notice that they may want to wait if they plan on purchasing it.

Statements like these always puzzle me, especially when coming from GOG users. If GOG does EVERYTHING worse, why use GOG at all?

To me, DRM-Free trumps everything else. Achievements, Updates, any other social media fluff that Steam has. I like achievements, but I'd rather have a game on GOG without achievements than not at all. Also all 3 Sony games feature achievements and are up to date

Maybe because your reading comprehension is lacking? I never said GOG did everything worse. You just made that up. I said they were not better than a Steam release and gave examples of why that is.

It's my preference too but since these games are playable without the Steam client it's not a reason for me to rebuy them.

That's great. If you have not already bought them for PC then no reason not to get them here. But in my case it's the same as what I already have. I did buy Horizon and Days gone on GOG. But GoW and Uncharted I got from Steam.
