Find what you're looking for faster, easier, and with style.

As some of you have already noticed, today we launched an overhauled navigation system for GOG.com. The goal is simple: to make it faster, simpler, and better for you to explore our store and find what you're looking for.

Browsing our catalog has never been easier: mouse over the Store tab for a neat dropdown menu that contains ongoing sales, a detailed breakdown of our games categories, and several top-tier suggestions.
To bring our games closer to you, we've also made several improvements to our search engine, so locating the title you're after should be much more straightforward now. Those accessing our store through mobile will notice that these changes have dramatically improved their experience, as well.

But that's not all! If you want to reach Support, interact with the Community, or manage your Account, you'll find that the intuitive dropdown menus make for a much more fluid experience, saving you time that could be spent playing your favorite games!

Your account name and avatar are now clearly visible on top at all times, so you can tell at a glance if you're logged in and on which account. Last but not least, redeeming gift codes and switching between languages or currencies is now more readily available with no need to scroll to the bottom of the page.

Enjoy!

ValamirCleaver: I recall that GOG used to find the IP owners of what were long unsupported & largely considered "abandonware" games, work deals to legally release them to the public and apply whatever neccessary tweaks to the games to help them work on modern computer operating systems
Nightdive Studios is doing that too. http://www.nightdivestudios.com/

I'm glad for those who are interested in old first person shooters, but since that genre doesn't appeal to me I don't personally find much solace in that. My comment was in refference to was GOG the retailer used to do well in the past...

Well Nightdive do it for more than just FPSes, they've re-released adventure games like I Have No Mouth and Noctropolis and (on Steam) the Tex Murphy games. Basically what GOG did and still does to an extent (since we still get classics like Throne of Darkness).

Hey GOG, I'm sure you didn't realize it, but the notifications on the website are missing.

You...

elcook: Just wanted to drop in and give you some update about the forum & chat notifications. Yes, we're aware they are missing in the web version. It's because we decided to work on those from the grounds up. For the time being they are working in Galaxy only, but we'll bring it back to the web eventually. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Any further information, how long it will take for bringing them back to the web eventually? It's really very inconvenient.

P.S. Problem is that elcook might not get notified of me asking...

Since GOG probably forces all its workers to use Galaxy, I guess he will. ;)

A bump to remind GOG of the missing notifications on the website. It's been six weeks now that your site isn't really usable without external userscripts (or without the "optional" client).

I'm sure it'll be soon. =P

If in fact Gog is working on bringing back notifications to the website, how about marking my community wishlist entry to "in progress". That way it would give us a sense that there is at least some progress being made to bring this back.

But if they did that, it'd make it harder (although not impossible) to say "Oh, we had no intention of..." :/
It's been a while since I've posted on the forums, and I see GOG is not one bit better with the notifications on the website.

I'm pretty sure I still have a pending friend invite thanks to Galaxy telling me so, but without Barefoot Essentials I cannot see it on the website (via Opera). I'd like to see my notifications without being told "install xyz" (with all respect to Barefoot Monkey, seriously, thank you for the Essentials). This is a feature that used to be a GOG standard, and it's been a month already without it!

Thanks for your patience all! Wanted to let you know we haven't forgotten about the notifications system, and our team is on it. The feature should be back, in a better form, within the next few weeks. We need to add some finishing touches and test it thoroughly, so we can launch it properly on the website.

Great, I look forward to seeing what improvements you've made :)

I'm so excited. Will eventually™ really arrive before soon™?
