I recently got gifted an adventure game called "Al Emmo & the Lost Dutchman's Mine" on this service. Anyone here played it?

SirPrimalform: Boo, Steam key only?
Yeah. Two separate entries. One for game. One for soundtrack

Nirth: I recommend Papo & Yo. Peculiar experience and great atmosphere. Don't expect the most revolutionary gameplay because it doesn't have it but at least it's consistent and makes sense regarding the game setting.
I bought it on your recommendation.Lets see what happens ;)

Azrael360: I just bought it with the soundtrack, and just to let you know, there are two Steam keys: one for the game, and the other is this DLC: Papo & Yo Soundtrack. There's no separate soundtrack to download from IGS.

OvaltineJenkins: So, I should have 2 steam keys in my game wallet. I only got one, and I'm pretty sure I beat the average.
It was $1.19 but when i switched to purchase screen i needed to pay $1.20 (silver star lights up) then paypal.i got both keys

Even though, it's a steam-only release, I strongly recommend this game because you won't see that kind of topic in videogames often, the gameplay is pleasant and the artistic direction is great (be sure to get the soundtrack). It's only 3-4 hours long but it's clearly worth it.

True, one of the best game I played on 2013.
Add me to people who love the game too. It's a little gem that didn't get nearly enough attention in the game media.
Bought, I'll definitely play it before the end of the year.
Hmm, do I gamble on the possibility of them eventually adding a DRM-free version?
low rated

The biggest gamble would be betting on you posting about something other than your vehement dislike of Steam.

Want to show us on the doll where Steam touched you, so we can get over this once and for all? It's fucking tiresome.

Can you put a sock in it? There are heaps of people who dislike Steam and only buy games for it, if a given game cant be gotten here (im one of them) or the dev makes a boneheaded decision not to make it available drm free - their loss)

I don't know what exactly got into you, but I think this personal attack was completely uncalled for.

Personally, I value SirPrimalForm's input very highly, especially since his posts are often well-researched, and are based on direct communication between him and the respective other party. He seems to put a lot of time and effort into providing information that is of interest for the community here (i.e., whether or not a game is DRM free or which unannounced DRM traps might be included), and I'm very happy to get this information.

Actually, I have never seen him talking in the same disrespectful and condescending manner about Steam, in which you just talked about him.

Wow. I must have done something horrible to you at some point for you to get this grumpy over something this minor. It's not exactly like my opinion of Steam is unique on the GOG forums either, I could understand that reaction if this was the Steam forums bit come on man.

Thanks for the back up guys, nice to know some people don't mind me.

The reason I mentioned a gamble on a DRM-free version being added was partially because of the wording on the IGS page ("at this time") and partially because when I asked the devs about the possibility a while ago they seemed receptive. I might just ask them again during the course of this sale.
I've already played through Papo & Yo and I had mixed feelings. It's definitely worth playing, and a steal at this price, but it isn't perfect. The premise and story were interesting but also pretty simple. I was often really amazed at how great the soundtrack is, only to be annoyed by its repetitiveness a few minutes later, when it took me longer to beat the level. The environment is pleasing to the eye, but also a little empty, and a lot of time is spent running through it all by yourself to get from point A to point B, which I guess kind of fits the theme of loneliness though. The puzzles and mechanics are awesome at first, but then they are more or less repeated in variations, and sometimes the mechanics can even get a bit frustrating, especially when Papo gets in your way (which also fits the theme pretty well, but is no fun with regard to the gameplay). There are some clipping issues and once I had to restart a level because Papo got stuck in a corner. It feels a bit like one of the better student games due to the lack of polish, but also due to its originality. The game is rather short, but in the end I was kind of glad about that. All in all I enjoyed it, the minor frustrations and occasional boredom did not manage to drown that other initial feeling of pure delight, but I don't know if I would recommend it to friends who aren't as passionate about gaming as I am and not that open when it comes to trying something different just because it has an interesting premise. Maybe a 6 or 7 as a game, an 8 for theme, atmosphere and visual design.

On another note, I bought this a while ago on the Humble Store for $4, and now I'm kind of disappointed that they didn't include the soundtrack when you can get both game and soundtrack for as little as $1.20 on IGS ... :(

Anyway, $4 wasn't that much either, so I guess I'll just buy it again for the soundtrack. I take it gifting the key to someone else would be unethical and/or against the TOS, so I should just ignore it?

Also, most games on IGS so far were DRM-free, so commenting on the fact that this one is Steam-only is valid, no matter whether one likes Steam or not and whether one likes SirPrimalform or not (as for the latter, I do though, count me among those who value his input and opinions.)

Yeah, 2 entries for Papo & Yo (big icons). To get the bonuses on IGS, make sure to always pay at least 1 cent more than the average in the main page (the star for bonuses should be in color instead of grayed out). Paying the same as the average doesn't unlock the bonuses (I know because it happened to me once... :P). That's why nijuu needed $1.20 when the average was $1.19. In my case, the average was $1.26, so I paid $1.27.

How do you get access to the soundtrack then? Will it be extracted to your Steam folder so you can move it somewhere else, or can you only listen to it via Steam or something? (Sorry if this is a dumb question.)

It would be great if you would, I'd be very interested to know as well!
