Nightmare Reaper is now available DRM-free. Get it 15% off until October 8th, 1pm UTC.

Explore the cursed depths of a nightmare while finding powerful weapons and improving your abilities in this retro first person shooter, inspired by the classic of the 90s like Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, Rise of the Triad and Wolfenstein 3D.
The game can become literally unbeatable if you picked the wrong weapon in a certain later world which also includes infinite mob spawners who have too much hp and no way to break the l.o.s to stop them from spawning more. Also, knives are more effective than explosives, it is a very janky experience which is very unoptimized even on high end computers despite the ugly art style.

merin: Cool. So, Dusk when?

TheMonkofDestiny: SOON
This is probably the week of the ugly retro shooters. :(

I hope we get something decent this week. Something for people who do not live in the niche.

Cheers for a more detailed experience of why you don't like it.
Great game. Had a lot of fun so far already with the Steam version. I'll for sure now switch to the GOG version. Happy to see it here finally.

To everyone saying this game looks like shit: I recommend playing it before judging. Screenshots and compressed YT videos don't do this one justice. It looks better in full motion on your own screen with your own resolution and framerate.

Not that your framerate will be high all the time. Considering how badly it tanks.

I've had no major problems with the framerate. Sure there is still room for improving things but what is available has already been very much playable.

ShadowWulfe: How about Hedon?
You can safely get that one on Steam. It's completely DRM-free. That being said I wouldn't mind seeing it here on GOG too.

antrad88: This is probably the ugliest game I have seen on GOG. Low resolution is not the problem, it's how you use it. The colors are just all over the place, there is no clear artistic vision. There even seems to be bump-mapping or bright specular lighting on some of the shots, it's a complete mess.
I love pixelart and pixelart games, but this is too pixelly even for me!
RADICAL, I was waiting for that game to release on gog. Instabuy. Thanks a lot.
I don't mind old games. I don't mind retro-styled games. I don't mind pixels out the wazoo. I do mind bad aesthetic designs though. I guess I have to pile on with the naysayers because looking at the video and screenshots makes my eyes bleed.

(scratching head) do assault rifles work against horrors?

David9855: Amid Evil was awesome and took it's own place but that doesn't hide some games who just want to use a simple old and outdated for a reason engines and cash in on the retro nostalgia craze.
Such as? I see very very *very* few games developed using old engines. Like, virtually none. Ion Fury is a good example though, and it pulls it off really well. Easily a personal top-20 first person shooter for me.

All the ugly-looking "retro" crap is almost invariably made in Unity and despite looking ugly and dated, it gives you none of the merits of the old engines.

If anything, I'd want to see more games made using old engines.

Read what I wrote earlier.
Game's great. No idea who picked these screenshots but it makes it look much worse than it is. It's more Quake inspired than anything like Doom. Been progressing well over on steam. Recommend it if you can look past some visuals messes.

Honestly, the description for the game is so off the mark it hurts. Guy is making good stuff and deserves success. Give Gman's video a look, some stuff has been fixed though - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGyiAe7O1aE

It doesn't look "retro", it looks like Minecraft to me.
The cover illustration art is badass. Metal rifferama. I'm hooked. Then...Minecraft. Meh. I'm gonnna pass hard on this.

Let me tell you that you're missing out on a very good game. The movement is a nice mix of running like in Project Warlock and the b-hopping is very much in the vein of Painkiller. Also the weapons feel very strong in this one, especially with a huge knockback bonus etc added to them.
